I am not even mad - the team over the weeks radiated so much positive vibes. I'm happy for the way this tournament went for us. We showed Spain wasnt really all that unbeatable, -although possibly still the best team of the tournament. Now lets enjoy the rest of the show!

It's hard to say what things would have looked like without Kroos. But my point was more about previous tournaments anyway:

The biggest issue in 2018 was that Löw thought that Khedira/Kroos (with Kimmich as an attacking RB) would somehow work out against all evidence to the contrary.

In 2021 there was no pretence anymore and Löw just gave up the midfield, played a back three and hoped for the best.

In 2022 Germany actually resembled a functioning team again. I think the absence of Kroos was a big factor in that.

Kimmich/Goretzka falling apart as a partnership changed things again and things seemed fairly okay this time, but having such polarized roles as Andrich/Can and Kroos was more of a pragmatic necessity than a recipe for success in my opinion.
 
Bloody hell, I already thought it was bad bringing on Conceicao after his performance against Slovenia, but to take Bruno off for him is mental. Your best penalty taker too.
 
Bruno subbed off is good. And Dalot remains on the bench too. I hope Portugal get knocked out today as two of our most played players will get some rest before next season.

My thoughts exactly

No disrespect to anybody who may be Portuguese here, but if Portugal gets knocked out, we get Bruno and Dalot back sooner :) We don't have anybody in French squad, so just being shamelessly selfish United fan here
