PSG vs Man Utd | Build-up Thread | Return leg Wednesday 06.03

I think PSG is a good draw and United has a better chance to go thru then most of you think. PSG are bottlers with a small club mentality United could knock them out. Also think Porto can edge Roma and Ajax can absolutely beat Real if they played like they did both games vs Bayern.

I hate PSG so much. So of course if we win i'll be elated. That's a one hell of an IF though.

They already held the draw for the 2022 season?

Yep. And Spurs - by then 3 times CL winners - were seeded in Pot 1 and drew underdogs Barcelona.

I fancy Barca to win it. If they turn up, they are probably the best team in the competition.

That's great but it isn't going to mean shit when you have Neymar and Mbappe running at you. Sevilla were hardly a big name either and United were in a much better place when they faced off.

United would have a chance if they got rid of Mourinho now, but with the current atmosphere around the club? No chance.

Bottlers ok, small club mentality maybe but they haven't lost to a team as shit as United in their recent knockout history. What you used to describe them is basically us in much worse

I like the draw for us, wouldve preferred City get tough opponents too. We're gonna get hammered and have no hope unless Mourinho is sacked. I'm worried that this is the year one of City/Liverpool win it though.

Well, stranger things have happened in cup competitions. The name is still Manchester United, and it might intimidate. Regardless of our form, this is one of the biggest games in their history.

Bottom line, I'm not going into this expecting a loss. CL and FA Cup is the only thing keeping this crap season alive, might as well harbor a fool's hope.

Time to sadly get real, the name makes football all over the world smile and laugh these days. Shit teams, lower league teams aren't afraid of us, PSG will relish this tie. A surprise is always possible of course.

No chance in hell with current Juve, PsG or Barça.
None of those are that good, and none of those are a clear level above City or Liverpool. Dont forget that Liverpool in the group really outplayed PSG in Liverpool and got the win there, but lost away (and would go out on away goals). City would dominate possession against all of those and will likely have De Bruyne back fit come the time they need to play any of them.
We might hate them, but both City and Liverpool are as good as any of the sides left in the CL for knockout ties, and that's hugely worrying.

At least we'll have a bit of underdog feeling, which could benefit us. If Mourinho lasts until these games, I guess this role is what probably suits him best. Can't see us going far neither never-the-less.

Trust me I don't think United are favorited and for sure will knock them out BUT I would not be surprised if they did. These type of games are mourinhos cup of tea. If it was Barca or someone else no hope but its PSG and they don't scare me not one bit.

Thought we were nailed on to get Atletico so Schalke is nice albeit tricky.

Think Liverpool might give Bayern a bit of a hiding if they don't buck up, tough draw for United but not impossible. Spurs is tricky too.

It has not been his cup of tea for a while. It has been a while since Mourinho collected a major scalp in the CL KOs

I mean we absolutely dominated PSG at home & they drew with Napoli. I'm not saying we'll win it, but I favour City over two legs versus PSG at the very least. Probably give Juve/Barca the edge over City, but saying City have "no chance in hell" is well over the top. City have more chance than PSG, 100%.

They are though and a style nightmare for them v Liverpool. They are slow as shit.
Hummels and Martinez got benched, Coman and Gnabry are getting playtime, should make us a bit faster. Did you know that Coman was only marginally better than Niklas Süle in Bayerns internal tests? :)

Liverpool Bayern is interesting with Klopp.
Kloppos strength is figuring out the other teams tactics. Will be interesting to watch him figuring out Kovacs tactics. Doubt Kovac has any.

Messi is hungry and most of the team still angry about the unexpected travestry of a game at Roma. Plus playing vs Pepus is always an extra motivation, especially for Messi. And Busquets-Vidal can cancel De Bruyne-Aguero out any day of the week.

Juventus has Ronaldo. Enough said. And italian teams are always a harsh mountain to climb in knockout stages. Plus experienced TopTop CBs.

PSG. If Neymar and-or Mbappé play to kill they are unstoppable for any team, even Juve. And don't be fooled by the Group stage matches. Totally different vibe.

City sure can trash Cardiff or Brighton, but that's about it. And Liverpool? Better chances than City, I'll admit that.

True that, but I just don't see it. They lack too much in midfield & defence to beat City for me. Also City did are currently top of the top 6 mini-league, having drew with us, lost to Chelsea, and beating all the others if I remember rightly. They can step it up on a big occasion too, and I just think their squad is better than PSGs overall.

I also think City have more chance than Liverpool to win the CL.

I know where you finish in the group determines if you play home or away in the next round but just curious from my fellow Liverpool supporters would you rather have had VVD suspended for the home or the away leg?

Unless things drastically change between now and February, the PSG games will be our last Champions League games for at least 18 months. Depressing.
