Ray tracing isn't just on or off. But I think I've conversed with you enough to know you know that.
The thing is even the best PC's can't explore the limits yet, but with the 30xx cards we are better off. But it is the next leap, that's undeniable. HDR, like 4k, is just a stop gap on the road to the next level of graphics. Truly raytracing light, sound, even AI is the leap that's coming.
I'm not surprised nor do I expect people to get it. But for now, "Properly" means tracing the light, reflections and shadows. Whilst I personally think Spiderman, Control and RE8 do a very decent job and I'll admit I'm surprised how many games are already taking it on board and trying to push for is especially on hardware that was already left behind, I'll say people need to stop acting like it's some kind of fad. Especially those who then down the line use them as weapons to argue over who's machine is better...like render resolutions...like fps...
