You know, this does it for me. That award is going to be with someone else tomorrow if I have anything to do with it.

You've gone too far with this @afrocentricity
feck me, well if it had to go to someone then it's only right it goes to @esmufc07

As all the other candidates are cnuts....

*But really it should stay with me so it can keep @Bojan11 and @VeevaVee permanently triggered... Imo.

Great post.

May I suggest the replacement?
No, I've made my mind up and to be fair you've consistently put a lot of effort into this. Leave it with me.

Oh well, and this all started because I laughed at @VeevaVee getting rinsed by @Redlambs.... Bitterness.

You've said enough already. Things can get a lot worse you know.

Haha @afrocentricity has got the fanboy/agenda award.

Great job, lads. Now the whole forum can see the fanboy that he is. Well done @VeevaVee @Vidyoyo @Alock1 @Mr Anderson.

We knew the PS fanboys on here wouldn't vote for their king and queen @esmufc07 @afrocentricity. So we invented all this charade, so you would think we badly want that award. @oates and @Crackers got played too. You did them up good Veeva.
Obviously you are so much smarter than I gave you credit for. Good one. :(

@afrocentricity 2020 - the double
@VeevaVee 2020 - feck all

Congratulations @afrocentricity

You've taken a lot of unwarranted abuse and scurrilous libel, particularly from @VeevaVee and @Bojan11 and from what I've heard the two of them are under the microscope now with the modmins and @Crackers for some reason. I doubt they're the sort to learn their lesson from it but they'll get what's coming to them at some point.

It took a while to get the Award to the right place but I'm happy for you. Very happy.

How do the consoles stack up against each other as an entertainment console, not just a pure gaming console.

I'm pretty sure I'll buy one or the other this year, but I don't actually play games as much or rarely. How's the functionality of the machines and the availability for apps and such?

Yeah those 2 are bad apples, with shit taste in consumer electronics...

What are you looking for specifically? For Xbox - I use mine for Prime and Netflix if that's what you mean. Sometimes Twitch too.

One weakness is that I can't find an app that allows me to play subtitled movies easily. Xbox has VLC Player but it's iffy... sometimes when I load the subs the screen goes blank. Restarting the app tends to fix it 90% of the time.

PS4 had no ability to play subtitled movies so I dare say neither does the PS5.

Tricky to say. Best to get the opinion of American posters as the range of entertainment apps vary on country. I'd guess Xbox is better on that front purely because last generation they went all in on the entertainment side of things rather than games but could be wrong.

I'm currently at my parents house who don't have Sky or BT and I use my PS5 to log on to my Sky and BT to watch the football - I have zero issues on that front.

I also use it to watch YouTube, Disney+, Netflix, Prime, and Apple TV and again no issues at all. The only thing is that Disney+ doesn't stream in 4K, but that's a minor quibble all things told.

Had my PS5 since release day and I absolutely love it, no issues whatsoever and if you have the right setup to play it on it's insane!

From what I know they are pretty similar, here are the differences I'm aware of:

Xbox pros:
Slightly quieter fan
Supports Dolby Vision
Supports Dolby Atmos for streaming (PS5 only supports it for gaming & blu-ray movies)
Has an internet browser (don't think the PS5 does?)

PS5 pros:
There is currently a bug on the Series X which means blacks don't appear as black as they should on Blu-ray and therefore they don't look as good as they should especially on OLEDs
Quieter disc drive
The UI is 4k

The UI being 4k is clutching there like

So is a slightly quieter fan!

Tempted to add quick resume as an Xbox pro as it makes it easier for me to put down certain games when I want to switch to watching something without losing any progress (I'm looking at you Yakuza: Like a Dragon).

I’d say a quieter fan could be deemed important for watching stuff. Not sure how much difference it would make with these now though. Sounds like some ps5s might be louder than others.

oh an internet browser on my video game console, that'd have been great fifteen years ago when i didn't have one in the palm of my hand.

You can really tell the obsessed fanboys from this thread. Talk about getting wound-up by a list.

Anybody played The Medium yet?

I've played the first couple of hours and it's full of interesting ideas and has a good atmosphere. I'm not sure what it will grow into though as it's creepy rather than full-on horror at the moment. It feels very well thought out though.

So did the Dreamcast...
