Protest at Old Trafford

Gotta say Carragher has gone up in my estimation after what he has been saying on Sky today. They're absolutely bang on, there's akways going to be done dicks going too far, but that shouldn't take away from the original message of the protest.
Was just watching that and he totally resisted the anchor's (cockney rhyming slang intended) attempts to reframe the debate around the actions of a minority. He spoke passionately about what we're already seeing in the Torygraph, the focus on criminality rather than the reason for the protests.

Top man.

The red-haired girl on the video. Is she falf naked to see the lads she's proper red then pay her but if that abomination of a pink-cream colour to match her looks the get her a fine for bringi g the morale down.
I've read this post 3 times and I can't figure out if I need to phone the police or something

This is marvelous. I have never seen a fan protest gain so much publicity. Glazer shareprice should take a kicking. Sell and piss off

So you suggest what? Violent protests? That's such a stupid notion - Against who exactly? I'm sure Joel Glazer wasn't even in the vicinity.

u think today was violent? how come? this was a statement and if Roy Keane, Gaz and Scholesy are finally speaking with us, then it’s like Roy said today “this is just the start”
time for people like u to pay attention! Glazers have taken 2 BILLION POUNDS away from our club that should have gone to our training base, academy, Old Trafford and our squads over the years!!
Glazers have done more damage to OT than people did today

This will go down as a great day in the history of the club.

I'd be interested to learn how many people got hurt before the police started to force people away from the protest. I don't mean the ones who removed people from the stadium, but the lines of officers in riot gear we saw in videos, who started pushing crowds away from where they were gathered outside.

I've never once seen those tactics employed on protests without things ending violently. That said, I'm sure 99% of police officers out there were just doing their job to the best of their ability, and just like the 99% of fans who did a great job protesting, we shouldn't let the 1% wrong 'uns dictate the story of the day.

I am now hammered and turning in for the night but what a superb day.

Genuinely emotional about it all. We still have it in us.

How long is it going to be before we get approval for any matches to be held at OT? We might struggle to fulfil the rest of our fixtures (most of which are at home).

They're probably go to a neutral venue for our home games now, the Premier League will want to keep sponsors happy, I think the Glazers are selling anyway there was a story a few days ago about them going to sell for $4 bn, it's more who will buy.

Anyone thinking today is violent need look back at the 70s

I seen an account on twitter before claiming this is the same guy that slashed that officer's face and he apparently threatened a kid for wearing a United shirt. There's a video doing the rounds of him trying to kick door in too.
Horrible if that’s true!

It hurts the club. That is the point. It is a shame because lots of people wanted to watch that game. I actually stayed up for it but fell asleep then woke up to see it was cancelled. Utd are not united.

fecking brilliant today.

I’m glad the game was called off, I’m glad the fans got in the ground. Keep it up.

Depends. If to report her so that she gets a fine for dressing as a walking hot-dog advertisement then you should. If she's indeed almost naked then good for lads down there.

That poor police officer, I hope he is okay. In regards to the protest, the fact that someone who was willing to turn towards violent assaults attended a group of thousands does not really have a anything to do with the message. They were not protesting against the right of police officers to not suffer violence, they were not protesting against cameras or stewards either. When venture/vulture capitalists involve themselves with something that many people have a deep and personal connection with and proceed to trample over those emotions for nearly 2 decades due to self interest then unfortunately this is what can happen. I condemn those that carried out acts of violence and feel a deep sense of pride for the thousands who showed up and simply protested.

planes can be paid to fly around Raymond James Stadium. I am sure there are enough Reds in Florida to get media coverage

Can you hire those supertanker planes that drops loads of water? Drop a load on the Glazers every time they leave the house until they sell.

Love United Soak Glazer.

Those who are saying the protest is violent, my ass! We have been robbed 2 bils by the leeches and its criminal. The leeches only in it for the money.

We were one of the best club in the world and now a joke in European football. Playing in Europe League and can't challenge for EPL year in year out.

The protest should continue until the leeches feck off. Those protestors are the real hero. They have my respect 110%.

No doubt not even the ignorant Glazer pricks could avoid the controversy with the worldwide coverage today.

It's just a shame that some of the US sports outlets just reported the protests as mindless hooliganism.

There much coverage in the states about this?

Would be nice for their leaching ways to be highlighted over there, if nothing more than to embarrass them on the golf course in front of their business buds.

Yes and no. With yank cops regularly showing us what it looks like to have law enforcement actually go rogue it’s hard to feel bothered about some low level scuffling during events like today.
You haven’t thought this through very well. Discipline/respect/restraint among police and among angry fans keeps people safe.

Hopefully the leeching cnuts will feck off now. They are scum of the highest order

Interesting comment. If this is coming from a Liverpool fan in disguise, then probably unwise, because Liverpool team has been well rested and better prepared to take points from MU. If this comment is coming from City fan in disguise, then probably unwise as well, because City could be crown tonight. If this comment is coming from a Chelsea fan in disguise, doesn't make sense does it? if this comment is coming from a Roma fan, well, it only gives MU extra few days to rest.

Ah, may be I am wrong. if the match is re-scheduled to Tuesday, then perhaps MU must field a U21 team, or the best 11 play 2 games in 2 days. Liverpool or Roma, your pick?

That's race-to-the-bottom talk though. I mean, in the US they could tell people to stop complaining about the police because they should count themselves lucky not to be in Russia or North Korea. Surely that's not where you want to be heading (the situation in the US, I mean), and hence not what you want to be comparing things to.

Dunno how widespread it was but NBCSN were covering it live over there during the Newcastle/Arsenal game.

Sad, isn't it?

As a Manc who has family living near where the violence occurred, I'm glad you weren't. The less people breaking the law and causing chaos near them, the better.
Violence? Seen more blood spilt and damage done on a Wednesday night in the local bingo hall. Catch a grip mate.
