Proposal to ban X.com links

How ?

Overall people would just be less informed. Blue sky hasn’t yet got the numbers to be useful imo.
Less informed? We're in this political position because of the amount of misinformation, led by Twitter. Dumb people are being farmed by Russian bots.

In relation to football it would get rid of gossip and pretend journalists which are given far too much leeway in the media. Not to mention to people that don't use the site, X links are giant black boxes that show you nothing because you need to have an account to use it.

I think now is a good time for people to reflect if what they need in life is to really give a little bit of their money to a Nazi billionaire each month.

If we ban X, then we have to ban every single link to media outlets owned by billionaires.

Or does people think there are "Good billionaires"?
I think maybe let’s draw the initial line at the one owned by a guy openly doing Nazi salutes?

The question is how do we run the transfer tweets without it? All other uses of X could probably be replaced easily, is there an easy alternative for that?

Do your mental health a favour and live in blissful ignorance until the club announce something.

We either have a shortlist from Bluesky or we go without. I'm in favour of going without it as it's just become noise

What's the 88 mean in your username, out of interest?

Year of birth, 1988. I think I had made an account with hasanejaz as my usename long before with my uni email address but then never used it so it got banned  Had to pick another one then for the new account then.

Im on Bluesky as well as twitter and have found that a much more pleasant experience however my Twitter feed is largely from sources I follow and I have little exposure these days to the offensive shite on twitter. Its a bit of an echo chamber of my own making but I still think there are useful avenues of great information via twitter.
I understand the sentiment for a ban but if we do ban it we will narrow some of the avenues to credible information etc from the platform. I would be ok with a ban but it might be one of those cases of cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Most credible sources will rapidly be on bluesky if they aren’t already imo. Time to be part of the wave that bins off the Twitter cesspit.

Honestly, I'm fine with the notion. There already has been quite an exodus of both individuals and institutions from Xitter, and I feel like that will accelerate in the coming weeks and months. So telling the nazi platform to feck off is not only the morally right thing to do, but should also be bearable from an information sourcing perspective.

If that stops people linking tweets which link to articles and makes them link the article from the start then that's an added bonus to me.

I'm not in favour of this. Too much relevant information is posted on Twitter to get rid. Hopefully that changes over time but I think banning it now will diminish the forum's utility.

Are we really going to miss that much news?

Maybe some funny takes but are we to be less enlightened?

Bluesky integration is in the works but for technical reasons we don't have a timeframe for it.

In anticipation of some of the responses to this post, yes, we are aware Bluesky integration is on a wide number of XenForo boards, but on here it isn't as straightforward and requires backend work due to some of the requirements for it.
