Pro Evolution Soccer 2012

Anyone still playing this? Just picked it up last week. Why the feck is Chicharito rated so poorly?

I am and I have no idea, it's ridiculous. Would anyone be interested in doing a PES tournament?

Out of all the Pes games this is the one i've played the least. Either I'm getting too old for video games or it's just not very good. I only stick it on when a mate's over, and even then i get bored of it.

Going to pick it up again tonight maybe. Have not played it in ages, have found footie games to be a bit of a let down in general really, next year I might wait until after christmas to pick it up when they are cheap as chips. Bit of a rip off when they are initially released really

I think it's great. Passing and movement is spot on. It just lets itself down a bit with daft defending, and the computer's 99.9% success rate at booting freekicks into the top corner from anywhere closer than about 60 yards out.

Plus they've bafflingly and deliberately ruined the Master League, which is actually one of the greatest crimes in human history.

Haven't played it in ages because I've just kind of given up having time to play computer games. I tried Fifa again briefly last night and it was robotic garbage...people are idiots.

I'd be up for a tournament if anyone else is.

I'm definitely up for a PES12 tournament, might have to open it up to newbies as well though.

Totally fallen out of love with FIFA this year (it's been coming) so thinking about getting PES next year. Especially after I dug out my PSP and have been playing PES5 recently. So much fun.

SO, what's the verdict with this year edition? I bought PES2011 and quite enjoyed it but some very silly things ruined it for me so had to pick FIFA up too. Has this year been a progression? How's Master League these days? Still awesome?

It's great, as always IMO. I am playing Master League almost every day. Master league has a few problems, money, transfers, training settings are shit, but even without those things it's excellent overall, but I hope they will finally sort that out.

Picked this up again after a long time and surprising enjoyed it. I beat England in the world cup final with Ronaldo scoring a hattrick and Nani assisting two of them.

I hated Fifa 12 so I hope PES is good again this year so I have a good game to play.

I picked it up about 2 weeks ago now. I'm enjoying it but there's still some things that are really irritating that ruin it. That said, I still enjoy it more than FIFA's single player.

I'm contemplating renting this for the Master League.

How good is that mode this year? Are there any glitches in player development or regeneration? Do new players crop up effectively enough to play past 5 or 6 seasons or is there a dearth of good players like in FIFA where the youth players are shit?

Haven't played it enough to tell you. The master league I mean.

Same here. I'm only in my 2nd season of Master League.

Yeah same. I haven't played it in so long I actually can't remember all that much.

The Master League's the same as ever except for the annoying bitty parts they've put in which add absolutely nothing to the game. For example, they've added loads of pointless screens you have to flick through where your assistant tells you loads of pointless information, pointlessly. You have to keep changing the training schedule, for no other reason than to force you to keep changing the training schedule. Players whinge about being tired, then you leave them out for one game and they whinge about being left out...except this seems irrelevant anyway as no matter how many times they whinge, you just tell them you're resting them for another game and they say "ok right, I understand"

Bitty things like that which are just annoying, but it's still as addictive as ever (as a gameplay mode) once you get into it.

I can't really remember how the development and younger players coming through worked. I know I had a young team and the likes of Cleverley, Jones, the twins etc. had improved a huge amount. I think it still does that thing where a player retires, and then a 17 year old super human version of them suddenly spawns into Bolton's squad the next season.

Thanks guys. Don't think I'll be able to rent it for a bit given some kid has had the library's only piece for the last month and refuses to answer their calls as to when he'll return it. fecker.

Is it worth the wait, though? Basically I'm holding off taking a one month rental plan till it becomes available. I've spent months on FIFA but I've grown tired of the repetitive gameplay.

Two more questions that are more general:

1. Is the hardest difficulty tough enough? Nothing worse than a game that becomes to easy.

2. Is there more variety than FIFA or do most goals happen the same way?

 Yup. Available for free after my first season were 16yr old versions of Zabaletta, Cudicini and many more.

All of them turned me down even though I was in the top flight for some reason though with my "assistant" giving the reason of "we'll have to be patient here." which I have no idea what it fecking means.

De Gea just scored a header from a corner right at the death for me to beat Citeh 2-1. 36 years old and screaming like a lunatic at a computer game  Been playing PES since back in the SNES days and never had a keeper score from a corner. Anybody else had this in PES?

I find it pretty hard on the hardest difficulty, but I don't play it much. I used to be great at Pro Evo 09/10 but hardly play anymore.

Headers are massively overpwoered so a lot of goals come from crosses, but the reason I like the game is that you can really make the play fluid with short passes - that's how I like playing.
