Press Conferences 2012/13

It'll probably get it's own thread soon enough. For now, however...

FFS! Another waste of time pre-season contributing nothing but jetlag and, no doubt, a host of injuries. Why can't we just go back to the USA? It's the perfect balance between profit and football, providing a good string of matches played against decent opposition whilst training at top-class facilities. The 2011 USA Tour was basically the reason for our blistering start that season.

hear hear...would love to see the lads when they come to the US.

Announcement on United's website in 10 minutes about the 2013 tour. Australia all but confirmed, Thailand and maybe one other.

Not sure where to put this..

Might just go to thailand for this, wish they could come to Singapore though :(

Today's press conference was quiet judging by manutd.com, SAF just said Vidic would play against Sunderland and that's about it. Any reason behind this?

Seems a little early for a presser. Maybe the actual one is on Friday?

I'm an idiot, I thought it's friday.

11:45 am is the starting time of the press conference.

Vidic is back for tomorrow, Kagawa back in training & doing well, both Jonny Evans & Nani unavailable for tomorrow vs Sunderland

Any news on when Evans, Nani and Anderson will return? Hopefully Evans is back next week, he's played a lot this season so a 14 day break from matches might be good for him.

Hope we don't rush Vidic back for tomorrow. Sunderland will be up for this match, they were decent against Reading.

Kagawa is doing well but doesn't start training until Monday.

I'll be gutted if Rooney doesn't play tomorrow.

It's only Sunderland but it's so important that our attack is cohesive tomorrow and we don't have a drab performance and limp to a 2-1 win.

I want a minimum of 5 goals against these pricks.

Rooney said on his facebook page he is ok for tomorrow.

Aye, around 12pm GMT. You can keep track via manutd.com if you are unsure (news and blogs section).

Some points:

Team news: “Rafael is still out with a hamstring injury, Nani is still injured. Vidic might not be ready to start. Evans is fit and Kagawa takes training with the first team on Monday. Vida is doing great in training, it's just a matter of picking the time to bring him back. It gives me options with Smalling, Jones, Ferdinand and Evans.”

On Jonny Evans’ new contract: “We're very happy. It's keeping with our normal policy of players getting into their second last-year of their contract. We're delighted. He's had a fantastic career for us and is progressing all the time. He had one or two injury situations but hopefully they're behind him now.”

On Swansea: “You've seen the results they have had and the progress they have made as a football club over the last years. The important thing for me is they try to play and have the courage to play their football, which is good.”

On the festive fixture list: “This time of year, all the games are challenges and they come thick and fast now up to the cup tie on 5 January. Utilising the squad will be important, as will picking the right team, but hopefully we can get through it and be in the same position as we are now.”

I presume he meant Kagawa started training on Monday as he alluded to last week? Think that may be a typo. Shame about Rafael but we have more than adequate cover.

Yeah I wasn't too sure about that as well. It was a copy and paste job from the manutd.com website, so hopefully they'll correct the typo. Unless of course it's not a typo and he had a "relapse" so is starting training this Monday...

I'm expecting this to be quite interesting today.

I'm looking forward to the Chelsea one too. They'll obviously ask Rafa what he thinks about Fergie's behaviour.

Hopefully news on half the squad - Nani, Anderson, Kagawa and Rafael as well as updates on Welbeck, Young and Rooney.

For those asking, Sir Alex Ferguson's press conference is at 930am this morning. Here's hoping for good news on the injury front. #mufc

Nani - Nothing will be said.
Anderson - Still 4 weeks.
Nothing about Anderson as he'll be fit in February and something about Nani for sure, as he's been doing that every week since his injury.

He won't mention Nani, you can guarantee it
Why do you think so? Because he's not injured, huh?

30/11: "Nani and Valencia are still out. Nani will be out for four or five weeks. It's a hamstring injury and you have to take your time with it."

07/12: "Nani and Valencia are still out. It will be a few weeks with them."

14/12: "Nani is still out."

21/12: "Nani is still injured."

No, I never said he wasn't injured, I was the first to tell someone in a thread they started yesterday with his conspiracies it was rubbish, I just doubted he would say anything, a feeling?

Okay, but "you can guarantee it" doesn't express a feeling.

Nevermind.

It's an expression, don't get anal I explained myself. I think that because it always seems when there is controversy over a certain player SAF rarely comments (I'm sure due to the amount of crap he has had to put to bed over the years and gets sick of it), I am just saying since a lot are doubting, I believe that nothing will be said, that's all. Im a great fan of Nani's and look forward to him being back in the squad as IMO we don't have another midfield player with his directness when on form...
