Press conference and other interviews thread

Bodø / Glimt press conference:

Amorim on whether Maguire and Martinez will be fit to play:
"Not Harry. Lisandro is ready. I felt he had enough time so is ready. A different situation with Harry.
"We need them both, but they are in a different situation. They are both training. Harry will be ready soon and on the pitch also."

Amorim on Yoro:
"He is available to train but we are working on his fitness, which is important. He is a young guy.
"This is a massive club. It is very important the first image so we will try to put everything together because he is a great talent. We believe a lot in him and we are trying to prepare the best way."

Amorim on his first home game as manager:
"Everyone has said to me it will be a special time. I just want to win the game. Just to give that happiness to the supporters.
"Before the match it will be like a new sensation, but after the whistle it will be one more game and we want to win that match."

Amorim on whether he plans to rotate his squad:
"We have to do it, especially in this moment because we have a lot of games and in the beginning of something they have to feel that they are part of the team.
"They are international players. We will try to rotate and try to win every game - have a clear idea of how to play and everybody needs to be on the same page."

Amorim on whether he risks a divide in the squad by splitting training sessions - between those who play in the Premier League and those who feature in the Europa League:
"They are already split because if Bruno plays tomorrow he cannot train for two days, even the day before the next match he cannot train - just slowly, or jogging.
"So they are already split. What I am seeing is that some guys that don't play, the next day after the match they will train and have an opportunity to have a real training session. Some guys will play, some will have the opportunity to have a training session and in the next game we will change positions."

Amorim on Ed Sheeran:
"Sometimes you overcomplicate things. It was nothing, a simple thing to say hello to one of the commentators. And I was with Roy Keane, who is a real star, so was nothing."

Amorim on opponents Bodo/Glimt:
"I am expecting a very good team. They can win the [Norwegian] league this week. They run a lot and that is a very good thing for us, we need to improve that. They have some special players on the wing and they can play in the pockets very well. They have that aura of winning games. I am expecting a very intense game and I am expecting some different things."

On whether Bodo/Glimt may rest players:
"I don’t know, I am not thinking about that. I am just focusing on winning a game at Old Trafford. We need that momentum. I am just focused on our team. I know the players and the way they play, they will not change if one player is out."

Amorim on how long will it take for his methods to start having an impact on results and performances:
"It is hard to compare things. We are in a different level, this is a different league, so it is harder than in Portugal, but I also have more experienced players, they all play for national teams. They just need an increase to their confidence.
"At the moment I don’t know how to answer that question. I don't know how long, but I know that with a lot of games without time to train it will be tough, for me, but it will be tougher for them because they are on the pitch and will suffer a little bit. I will try to help them."

Amorim on whether he would consider changing from his favoured 3-4-3 formation:
"We will do it, we have to do it and when I talk about our structure I believe we can play in different systems. We defend more in this game [against Ipswich] sometimes in 4-4-2 because Amad was with the left-back. Nowadays, every team changes the dynamics so we will adapt that. I think our structure, the power of it is to change the formation in each game."

Amorim on the team's lack of goals:
"Of course there is a concern in that but I think we have to improve as a team. We have quality players that can score so many goals. You can feel in the second half [against Ipswich] we control possession of the ball but were not dangerous.
"We will try to improve as a team, Rasmus and Josh will score more goals. Amad has to be better nearer the goal. Bruno has to score more goals. All these guys need to improve. We can score so many goals."

On how to get Marcus Rashford back scoring regularly:
"I will try to tell him that position is not the best one for him, especially in a game like that. He was fighting with two giants [in the Ipswich defence] and we will try to find the right solution for him.
"He has to be Marcus first of all and then you will have the help of all the staff and fans because he is a Manchester United boy. But he has to be the first one to want it."

Bruno quotes:

On whether the players should take the blame for the sacking of Erik ten Hag:
"If you change a manager mid-season it is because things are not going as you want and if the things are not going as you want then everyone has to take the blame.
"As I have said before, it is easier to get rid of a manager than 15 or 20 players, but now our focus is on what the future can bring and get as quick as possible the ideas of the new manager."

On his role in getting the manager's ideas across:
"You always have to adapt to different ideas and positions, even sometimes on playing in the same system you have to adapt to different ideas of playing - on the ball and off the ball - because the manager can ask different things.
"It is not difficult for me to adapt in any position. I am really well aware of that.
"During training I try to absorb everything, of every position. I try to have an understanding of the game because being the captain the manager cannot always give the message from the bench to the pitch, because of the noise or whatever, so as a captain you have to try to resolve the situation together with your team-mates. Having knowledge of every position is my role."

If Amorim's system will be easier for older or younger players to adapt to:
"I think it could be worse for the younger players because for me, I know what the Sporting players were doing. I wasn't reading what the manager was doing there; I was watching their games. When I go to the national team, sometimes we play with a back-three, sometimes I play as a No.10, sometimes I play wide. You always have to move. I don't think age should be a problem, either older or younger. It is about carrying the most you can from the dynamics. As the manager has said, you do not need to overthink things, you just need to know you have a base and a foundation."

Not sure where to post this but Hake has done an interview, the transcript is in the comments below the post.

Cheers for that. Here it is, if people can't be bothered to click the link:

René Hake has given his first interview since leaving Manchester United. The former right-hand man of Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford reflects on a wonderful period.
Hake swapped Go Ahead Eagles for an adventure at United last summer. However, his time there came to an early end following Ten Hag's dismissal. "I hold no grudges, anyway. I worked well with the players, staff, and other personnel. I personally said goodbye to everyone to ensure a proper closure," he told Algemeen Dagblad. "I got to take a look behind the scenes at one of the biggest clubs in the world. Also in the Premier League, the NBA of football. When I take a step back, I realize how special that is, given my background."
With his humble background, Hake had to figure out the best way to guide world-class players and those on their way to becoming stars. "Rashford and Garnacho were quickly open to working on their timing with runs in behind," said Hake. "Using video analysis as well. With Bruno Fernandes, it was often about positioning during our build-up play. And sometimes, a player just says, 'I’d rather not change anything in my game right now.' Okay, you accept that too."
Hake also observed a clear difference between top-level players and those at a lower level during his time in Manchester. "It’s in football intelligence, in seeing solutions, in learning ability. But it’s also in the mental aspect — wanting to execute something well and continuing to do it well, even the 36th time," he said. "And with Casemiro, I sometimes thought: he senses things. When it really matters, he has an antenna, already feeling what’s going to happen on the pitch."

Says all the right things. It’s about humble hard working players and not about some prima Donna’s. Will be interesting to see if garna can learn how to pass as that’s what he will need to do if he wants to play for Amorim

There's several minutes of my life I'll never get back again. Can see why some managers can be so abrupt with journalists questions. That was pretty painful to listen to. Amorim so slick though, not sure how he managed to keep smiling throughout

During that pre-Tottenham press conference, there were 11 questions about Marcus Rashford and he asked zero questions about the game.

It's absolutely pointless doing them when journos just use them as an excuse to fish for headlines. Club should point blank refuse to answer questions that aren't related to the game/injury updates etc. This will go on until he's gone sadly.

These journos really are trash.....always fishing for the Gotcha! moment.
I like Ruben a lot and I hope he retains his sense of humour while he has to bat these mundane questions away.

It's quite cringe, especially the likes of Simon Stone

Yesterday was the first time I saw him showing signs of losing his calm and being petulant. I think he is feeling the pressure.
