Premier League's highest-paid players, four of the top five mega-earners playing at Old Trafford

And fecking Mata is on 160k/wk?? I thought he had on reduced wage
Many websites claim him to be on 160k. But back when he was extending contract in 2019 and in 2021, there were reports of him taking paycut to stay. So ideally he should be on 100k or less.

I really hope he is not on 350k. Most websites claim that to be his salary though.
That should be the sort of money you get for winning two or three PL titles and a CL not just to persuade you to sign for us. How in gods name will that motivate you to try and actually win something.

But increasingly the problem is that it’s not the right kind of players, the sort of players that want to join for football reasons, and then we attract players that aren’t fully committed. Bruno is still only 9th best paid player and that’s more than he was on originally in a rare case of football over salary.
Players will tell u they are in for football reason, but first and foremost their financial demand needs to be satisfied first. Salah absolutely loves to play for Liverpool and Klopp, but they need to offer him market rated salary.

The Mata figure is definitely the contract he got in 2013. Not his last 1 year extension. He's more than likely on pay as you play or low basic with appearance fees.

Good news is if we miss CL they all get a 25% pay cut, right?

Difficult to believe that Sancho would be on more than Lukaku or Grealish who moved the same summer for big money - most of these salary figures are just guesses

Ronaldo and Varane I can believe

De Gea gets far too much

It was widely reported Varane took a pay cut to join United too at the time.

It makes a good story but I suspect those figures, and the top 5, is bollocks.

I imagine Silva is on a big salary too at Chelsea moving on a free.

I highly doubt Sancho is on that much.

Leaving them down to 1 year left on their contract. Player has most power in contract negotiation.

And fecking Mata is on 160k/wk?? I thought he had on reduced wage. Or is it the reduced number already??
I thought his reduced wage was either just under or just over 100k. Didn't think even his highest was 160k.

Personally I find a a couple of those figures highly doubtful, which makes me question the validity of all of them.

City will have a few on more than that. Wasn’t David Silva only “officially” on something like 75k?

Do anyone believe Varane left Real Madrid to join Man Utd for football reason? It doesn't matter what the reason is as long as he performs professionally.

I don't think there is any official way to know the salaries, when it is not revealed.

We all read DDG is on 375k and agreed that is the salary. Same with Pogba on 290k or Rashford on 200k.

He might have, the Spanish league isn’t as powerful as it once was and English teams make the CL latter stages regularly, might want to test himself against the best.

Varane had a new contract on the table from Real Madrid and figures were similar which was widely reported. He wanted a new challenge and was fond of our club.

Now if you asked hypothetically if he regrets it. Yeah, most likely.

Was Varane ever loved at Real Madrid? They seem to prefer Ramos and have other superstars, he’ll get that love here.

I don’t believe this list, very sure few city and chelsea players earn more than our players. And that’s how they built a great team tbh, giving competitive wages and making them highest paid.

The excuse that man City are fixing the books with their wages is a mute point as it still means our players are above Liverpool and Chelsea players in terms of pay which is pathetic.

Only varane has argument for his salary as he was joining at the top of his game as one of the best defenders in the world but the rest in that list are not deserving and that includes ronaldo who is on a decline and would argue Ibrahimovic was a better player at the same age and I bet he was not getting paid the same as ronaldo.

It's what we get for becoming a soulless club with a lack of ambition, we are attracting players to join for the wrong reasons first and foremost, I would even be cynical to say varane would have stayed at real had they offered the same contract as us.

No one would have questioned these figure had these players been playing to their potential and keeping us in hunt for PL & CL.

Well that's true for individual players but you can get total wages for most clubs from their published accounts and what's it worth last published Liverpool wages were greater than United for the same period , so the notion that their Star players are earning less than most United players and yet they are paying more than United in wages somehow is quite baffling but the narrative has been set and people would believe anything without just taking some time to do some research .

I actually think the worst of all these is Mata. I can't believe that Solskjaer wanted him to get a new deal as he never used him. That means the club gave him a new deal for non playing reasons, 160k a week too? Unbelievable.

That is absolutely absurd.

Isn't it because then have incentivized their pay model? So apart from fixed salary, they also get more from their contribution on field and results. And considering Liverpool's success on field, I'd expect their figure to be greater than ours.

According to one of these lists, Stoke were paying Saido Berahino (a forward who seemed medically incapable of scoring goals) £80k per week.

Must be a decent contender for worst transfer of all time, accounting for the size of the club.

Nah that's just media peddled narrative I highly doubt any player would agree substantial part of his pay as variable . And the link I have posted shows both 2019 as well 2020 total wages and Liverpool won CL in 2019 so it's bonuses must have been factored in 2020 Accounts it was around 5 % so nothing highly significant and before that Pool hardly won anything but still their wage bill was already on the rise.

As per popular opinion, pw salaries

CR7 - 470k or something
DDG - 375k
Sancho - 350k
Varane - 340k
Pogba - 290k
Cavani - 250k
Rashford - 200k
Maguire - 185 - 190k
Bruno - 180k
Mata - 160k
Shaw - 150k
Fred, Lindelof, Matic - 120k
Henderson - 100k

That is assuming Sevilla is paying Martial whole salary.

Enough to make you weep looking at those figures.

Cavani and Lindelof are squaddies, Matic is an occasional, and Hendo is an even rarer sight on the pitch!

Bruno will be pushing for parity with a few of those above him at the next renewal too.

Sancho is the outrageous one in there though.
We pay players as if they're the best in the world.

Martial is on £240k. £40k more than Salah.

If I were doing a rebuild, I'd keep CR7, DDG and Sancho.....unfortunately that's the wage budget fecked though. Good luck negotiating with their pay.

Jadon Sancho earning more than Mo Salah should tell you all you need to know about the self inflicted problems at this club. What the feck has he done to deserve anything remotely that high? De Gea on silly money too for a keeper.
If those figures are true, they may be a result of this long term chase of him. We gave him too much importance and his agents cleverly negotiated a juicy deal for his client

Makes you wonder the accuracy of that list then.

Why on earth is Sancho one of the top 5 earners in the league?

I mean I like him but he's barely an adult and hasn't achieved anything yet. You couldn't even blame him if he turned into an arrogant lazy sod now.

I mean I get Ronaldo and De Gea that's a past feck up, and Varane I suppose probably the only way to lure him from Real even though it's still dubious, but no player Sancho's age should be close to that list. No wonder the attitude of our young players always seems to go to shite.

We really haven't learnt a fecking thing.

The only issue is that those are arguably our 4 best performing players this year. I'd be curious to see the rest of the list and where the likes of Rashford sit compared to Mane and others.
Ronaldo is performing? Before the Spurs match he was probably one of our worst players in 2022.

Dont think those numbers are far off in most cases, if true, you have to laugh really.
