Premier League Not So Festive Season

Well well well, Liverpool might be winning the PL this season. Personally i would prefer Pool to win it than City, its like a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea. But Pool haven't won it for decades and are one of the few clubs who have built their success on their own and not because of some oil rich sugar daddy.

Cool story but Pool can feck right off. This season is turning into a fecking nightmare.

:nervous::eek::wenger:

Silva, Aguero and de Bruyne didn't start today. Apparently it doesn't matter which players Pep inherited though.

Man City will dominate this league because of the Guardiola influence they said...

Well duh. Surely no one wants Liverpool to win the title.

Obviously I don’t want Pool to win. At the same time, City have been stupidly dominant since the start of last season. How often do they ship three goals? Seeing them get beaten like this is something to savor and enjoy.

The season is long, everyone is going to drop points. If Liverpool are good enough to drop the least amount of points, then so be it. I’m not convinced that they will and still think that City will overtake them, but even if they don’t, so what? City are our second biggest rivals, and have been much better than us since Sir Alex left, so yes I will enjoy watching them get beaten. My enjoyment of that isn’t going to affect the title race.

Edit: It’s just like last season when I was glad that Roma knocked Barcelona out of the CL, and all so many people could think about was “now its easier for Liverpool to get to the final”

So what? Much like city domestically, Barcelona have been stupidly dominant in Europe and it’s not unreasonable to be glad to see them knocked out. There is life out there beyond Liverpool, not everything in the world of football revolves around them.

I guess the euphoria and hype around Sarri have gone a bit now isn't ? It was tiresome here.
For all the talk about his attacking football, Chelsea only have 6 more league goals than us this season. You'd think it was more. They don't really have a striker in fairness.

This.

Win our game and the gap is back to single digit wit more than half a season to play.

We're still in it.
If we can give up a 8 point lead with 5 games to go. Chelsea can to with 20 games to go. Granted it's going to be tough and will have to improve heaps but it's not impossible

So don’t we...

Emery and Sarri were all the rage, caftards said that implementing a system can be done with a snap of the finger, just look at Emery and Sarri

Pretty much

Hi Jose what's up with the holydays in London? Enjoy the football.

Too bad Jose couldn't implement his style after three years. Both of those managers deserve more time

I'm not sure about the US commentators, but that City PA does NOT pronounce anything correctly, it's just pure cringe.
Fair enough. The NBC commentary does a decent job of not butchering foreign names.

With the rivals managers you feel like United fans consider anything they do as a progress. Emery and Sarri are challenging for 4th and 5th but United fans hadn't stopped drooling over them just because we had a shite season. If our next manager had us challenging for 4th and 5th after some more spending in summer our fans will be calling for his head but as I said, our fans look like they have different standards for the rivals managers than for us.

City losing is funny idc. I apologise for not being obsessed with Liverpool like you guys.

The feck? I've been Jose out since the West Ham loss two months ago. I just don't take kindly to emotional/reactionary thinking.

Get a rope...

You may have heard of the Inquisition. They had some rather quaint ways of dealing with heretics.

And that is why come may you will regret ever writing this crap because once they win it you will never hear the end of it. Also with things going so well for them and with the manager they have and the income they will make Liverpool is going to become an incredibly attractive destination for top class players. If they win it this season then they could very well go on to become a dominating force and that is incredibly worrying. It is the first time in my life that City lost a game and I am not happy because if the title gets lifted at Shitefield come may I'll vomit aggresively.

Rooney & Owen together in the studio... Eeek.

Question: If you didn't know which was going to have the better career, which of the two would you rather have based on their performances as teenagers?

Couldn't resist that one. It is something he would say.

Who said that they have to match them?

Well I was going off the fact that your explanation was "financial parity", but let's not get bogged down in semantics if you meant something slightly different from how I interpreted it.

The premiere league doesn't let you rest on your laurels, as has been said by countless managers that come from foreign leagues. Every season there will multiple top teams spending big money to try to improve, it is why retaining it is so difficult and hasn't happened in over a decade.

Interesting. Do you think there is greater financial equality than in the late 70s and 80s when Liverpool won something like 9 titles in 12 years?

If Liverpool win the league, feck sake we'll never hear the end of it from the media. They have been waiting with their headlines about the "fairy tale of a team went 28 years without title till the knight called Klopp arrived and delivered it". We'll go on for months hearing about the great Liverpool side etc. That will be totally shite.

One reason I always want someone like Chelsea to win these seasons is they're irrelevant team when it comes to media. No one cares much about their trophies and they forget they actually exist one week after them winning a league.

Let's see if Palace can generate karma and draw 3-3 with City despite being massive under dogs like against us in 2014. City pipped us to an undeserving league title with us also losing 2-0 to Chelsea. City already lost 2-0 to Chelsea right?

Wow. Wowie. Wowsers. This is what pressure does.

Except to finish fourth we need two teams above us to drop 8+ points as well as gain well over 2 points per game ourselves (title winning form)

Emery and Sarri have been here for less than 6 months and were comfortably outperforming Jose. That's why people were praising them. It's not realistic to compare them with Pep and Klopp who've had much more time and money to properly implement their ideas. If Jose had arrived this summer with them people would've cut some slack too but the man spent 400m on 11 players still coming off worse.

Rooney. Just felt like he'd do more.

Which he did!

Why are you insisting on comparing them to Mourinho like the world revolves around him and he's the perimeter of comparison ? Us aside, their season has been mostly average or decent, nothing extraordinary to drool over.

Because they are on their first season? And the 3 teams who are ahead on the League are the ones who have their managers working with the team for more years? Anyway only 1 team can win in the end, don't think the problems with Mourinho for me were only related with the results.

Another element that will make it awful is they'll be catching up on our 20 titles, and will be determined to match it the following season. All of our taunting back in 2012/13 will come right back at us. It's basically the worst thing imaginable for us, these cnuts winning it. Let's just hope they somehow implode and gift it to City like we did a few seasons back.

Thanks for understanding :)

That is a tough question. You would think that money was less of a factor in the 70s and 80s due to less globalisation. Most teams would be made up of players from the same country. There would be a much bigger focus on development back in those days.

Players like Van Dijk would be playing for a team like Ajax in those times, because scouting was not so aggressive with foreign talent back in those days. Talents would gravitate to the top club in their league, rather than going to a foreign league.

No-one is drooling over them. It's just a simplee comparison we made between them and Jose because people were making all kinds of excuses for our shite season like not being backed with Alderweireld etc. Once Emery and Sarri are given time and money like Pep, Klopp AND Jose were then we can judge them more harshly.

Conte on his first season with Chelsea side won the league title with 93 points.

Mourinho had been full of shite this season but I don't understand the insistence on comparing them to him when we talk about their season. Just because we're shite doesn't mean they're both great. Their season is decent at best imo, nothing extraordinary and if we were in a better stater we would have never cared much about them.
