Premier League monitoring 'mocking' goal celebrations, threatens punishments

Will Cole Palmer be punished every time he does Morgan Rogers celebration.

Excellent. I can’t wait for one of our players to get sent off and then they silently just phase the rule out, like Dalot vs Liverpool.

I was watching a Sky Sports show randomly of the best goals from some years in the 90s last night and its so bizarre how it feels like a totally different sport. From the goals that are scored, to the atmosphere in the grounds, the way the players act. It's night and day, and I wish I'd not watched it. I am now just an old man who isn't really that old, wishing for the good old days.

The atmosphere is better now IMO, and crowd more diverse. Just feels better in those death trap stadiums of yesteryear.

The rest, yeah. There's a steady monotony about the play and the players which has now almost reached its peak. Kids making academy step ups is literally the ONLY pure thing left in the sport.

This I'm very happy about to be fair. I don't think its the diversity that's killed the atmosphere.

Which ground are you referring to on the atmosphere bit?

I can't be that specific, it was a whole show featuring many many grounds. It just felt different. To be fair, just as someone who went in the 90s and goes now occasionally, its a very different atmosphere. Some elements being gone is great, but it does feel a lot more lifeless and soulless now at the top level at plenty of grounds.

What was the mocking towards Arsenal?
It was more of a personal thing than Arsenal. Haaland in arrogantly asked the kid "who are you?" when they squared up in the first leg. Am guessing the kid took it personal and so did the premier league officials on city's under the table payroll

I was watching that game and the stand out point was when Bernardo Silva fouls a player in the corner then swings and kicks him hard when he's lying on the ground. The ref saw it, did nothing, VAR didn't even bother checking an actual act of violent conduct but the goal celebration is now the problem because it can result in violence. How about the actual violence you ignored?

When did mockery and criticism because such an unacceptable thing. Christ.

There are plenty of things that are damaging the reputation of the sport - and incompetent refereeing is high on that list - but goal celebrations that might be deemed a little upsetting is not one of them.

No need for Halland to make the comments he did, but to be fair to him, nothing premeditated and the 'stay humble' was a fair point, also, he genuinely probably didn't know who the kid was

He did it three times. Twice on Trossard, once on Nwaneri. It's silly to expect referees to do anything against Man City, it's not how money works.

Shame they can’t concentrate on diving or feigning injury instead of finding a nice easy target in the heinous act of goal celebrations
