Premier League monitoring 'mocking' goal celebrations, threatens punishments

Can we also ban the colour red in kits, because blood is also red and someone might get offended?

Is this in relation to the Skelly celebration? Personally, I think it was funny and good banter.

Give what happened in the last game, it's hardly unprovoked either.

I can't really think of many celebrations that have been out of order, particularly from a mocking an opposition player angle.

Take humans out of football completely, I say. Just leave a ball on the pitch and check up on it after 90 minutes, let the natural elements determine what happens.

Would be better than watching our games.

It's great they are looking this...really valuable time spent. Amazing...

Bet you we will have the first and last player red carded for this.

I was going to say I think it'll be us instead, but then I realized we'd have to score some goals first.

Memories of Ronaldo playing for us and everyone fecking Suiiiing us every week.

It's like they sit in a room and purposely come up with ideas to chip yet a little bit more joy away from the game.

Afrter consultations with legends of the game all goals must be celebrated by raising one arm aloft in the "Shearer" pose, any deviation from this will be considered morally reprehensible and punished by a 5 match ban to be served cleaning the boots at the Etihad.

What a load of nonsense.

Adebayor giving it to the Arsenal fans for the racist abuse was iconic. He’d get banned for that now.

Surely total nonsense, football is meant to be fun.

Game’s gone.

Instead of clamping down on poor/inconsistent refereeing, this is what they’re concerned with.

genuinely embarrassing, pathetic stuff. they should have to cite at least 10 examples, where this has occurred to the degree that justifies punishment, to explain why this is even being considered. for example, imagine a fully grown adult involved in professional sports saying, 'well, umm, there was that one where the everton player flapped imaginary wings in front of brighton fans.'

piss off you sad fecks and do some actual work.

Even as an Arsenal fan, I thought that fully justified. You can’t tell abuse at someone all game and then cry when karma bites back.

What was the mocking towards Arsenal?
Haaland also mocked Lewis-Skelly directly by shouting “Who the f*** are you?” at him when we played each other earlier in the season. The fact that you don’t know that proves that no one seemed to care all that much about players mocking each other up until now.

I can only imagine what type of absolute useless knobhead that came up with this idea.

I genuinely think that anyone who cares about this kinda thing needs help.

If you want to take offense then I guess it's part of it but I don't think it's one particular thing. Vardy celebrates mockingly a lot. I don't see a problem with it. I'd have a problem with it during a Boca match because of easily those fans get riled up but England is fine.

Should just go back to a stiff handshake on the field and a stiff hand job in the showers.

Haaland literally threw a ball at Gabriel’s head to taunt him during a celebration (which incidentally was for an equaliser at home - something that would have been derided as small time had Arsenal done it) and no one batted an eyelid.

City are like that the mouthy kid who cries to the teacher the second anyone gives them even the slightest taste of their own medicine.

So true.

Yeah exactly, or something like Adebayor against City. I don't feel like we've seen anything like it since.

The Greatest Goal Celebration Of All Time. Ironically, also scored against City.
