Premier League Matchweek 3 August 27 - 28

If we win later we'll already have a 5 and 4 point lead on Liverpool and Spurs respectively. I'll be happy with that.

Good result for us.

Spurs were absolutely terrible. Honestly can't remember the last time I saw them play so poorly.

Liverpool have thrown 2 points away there.

Frustrating as we should have won. Thought Matip did fairly well as did Mane until later on in the game. Henderson had a decent game despite my concerns. Wijnaldum doesn't look very good at all.

I'm not sure what to make of Spurs. They started slow last season but Champions League football could its toll.

I don't think either of us will get top four based on what I've seen so far.

What I'm saying is they don't have a problem with their names. They just don't want to give recognition for their dads in football stuff.

Could be, but I just find that silly.

Never once I thought about Rooney's dad...or Ronaldo's, or Messi's. Have about Neville's, but just because of his first name! ;)

And Giggs was same as Depay and Alli, wasn't he? But he did something about it, and switched from Wilson to Giggs. Which is also factually way better surname.

Kane has been woeful since the Chelsea match last year. I think it broke him.
He's never scored in August in the PL, apparently. So it's probably that. But still, Spurs need to get their starting attackers firing.

Defend like that, you shouldn't win anything. You got exactly what you deserved.

Going forward is great, midfield and defence are as bad as i've seen from you lot in two decades, even Phil Babb and Rigobert Song had more to offer.

Is that three away games in a row now? Odd start to the season.
Anfield wasn't ready for the start of the season due to the main stand improvements. It'll be ready for after the international break.

Its pretty hilarious seeing Rawk moaning about the ref after that game, ironic.

Ah okay. A win and draw away to the two London clubs would have been great results had you not lost to Burnley.

You need to look at assists as well. Mane had 6 last season and 3 in the one before that. Young and Valencia were very hard workers who supplied the strikers with brilliant crosses. Mane is mainly a goal threat, and Fergie would want more than 10 goals a season from an attacking player whose main asset is scoring goals.

Young's assists in his final 3 seasons at Villa: 8, 10, 9.
Valencia's assists in his 3 seasons at Wigan, 1, 4, 5.

He still bought them, and neither possess a great goal threat either.

I'd predict that managers/coaches/scouts are looking for more than just goals and assists numbers.

I wonder why Klopp waited so long to bring on Sturridge. Mané and Firmino looked done after 70'.

I didn't think we defended that badly. Their goal came from one lapse in concentration, not tonnes of pressure and chances created due our leaky defence.

People always say this is the worst Liverpool team they've seen regardless of who is playing. It's not terrible, but we lack a world class player to lift us a few levels.

Would you have settled for 4 points from your first 3 before the season started? It looks kind of acceptable to me, all things considered.

They need to sack off that Dutch mug and put Kane in his proper position with Alli playing off him if you ask me.
Huh? That's how they started the game didn't they? Kane didn't look good enough even then. Most of his poor play has little to do with Janssen. He's just really looking off key. Prime example was A) his losing the battle against the Liverpool centre halves and B) general play - see that pass on the counter he got horribly wrong.

Yes, and they found gold in Valencia taking his numbers from Wigan into consideration. I don't rate Mane as highly as the two in their primes. I think they offer more than Mane in terms of general play (not goals/assists).

Strange thing to take issue with. Couldn't you say the same about a lot of footballers? Valencia, Martial etc.

No, not really. They don't smile much but at least they don't look angry all the time.

Going forward is as good as you have looked since the Suarez/Sturridge season. But building a defensive unit with Henderson in the midfield (never mind captain) is just asking for trouble, hes poor, and those behind him are just as bad. They all have a mistake in them every game, and none of them do well under pressure. It will cost you, a lot. Just like today.

If he'd bought some decent defenders, I think you would easily be in the top 4 this year.

Yeah you didn't defend badly today. But then Spurs looked absolutely lost in attack. They were getting basic passes wrong and key players seem to lack sharpness.

I've watched every Spurs game and they are not up to speed yet. They could run for 90 mins last season. Kane is playing as well as he did for England.

Dembele is a big miss.
