Premier League matchweek 2 (august 19th-21th)

Looks like Moses is being played as an attacker.

Courtois
Rudiger Luiz Christensen
Azpilicueta Bakayoko Kante Alonso
Moses Morata Willian
with Rudiger and Azpilicueta probably the other way around. Interesting.

You're probably right.

Still pretty grim to have Moses as one of your attackers, way I see it they are essentially playing with just two attackers in Morata and Willian. Gonna be tough for Spurs to break them down.

Interested in how Bakayoko will do. Can't say I was impressed when I saw him for Monaco in the CL.

Chelsea relied on Hazard and Costa a lot last year attacking wise. That's why Jose's man marking tactic on Hazard was so effective. This selection is negative but they don't really have many other options do they?

Or maybe something like this with either Luiz or Christensen in midfield?

Courtois
Azpilicueta Luiz Rudiger
Moses Christensen Kante Alonso
Bakayoko
Morata Willian

Hopefully a draw, but a Spurs win with about 4 sendings off each would also suffice.

At the bottom where every point is important, 6 from 2 is a great start for Huddersfield. 30 more should keep them up.

Same. Very interested to see how he and Kante do as a duo because they really don't seem like a natural fit. They're both quite well-rounded technically and physically but you'd think one of them will have to adapt to a more disciplined role than they're used to. Or they could just take it in turns as midfield dynamos, setting up counter-attacks and destroying opposition attacks in equal measure for fun.

Interested to see that Kante-Bakayoko midfield two. Two physical specimens but neither are very smooth on the ball

They're both very good at carrying the ball forward and breaking through the midfield lines, in fairness. They have a good first touch to enable that too. Kante certainly lacks the passing range and weight of pass in the final third. Interesting to see if Bakayoko's the same. From the highlights videos that did the rounds he looked to have a more diverse and incisive passing range than Kante's, but given Monaco only ever played at one pace it's hard to guess what he'll be like in controlling the pace of the game.

Very odd lineup for Chelsea. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some confusion early on. Tottenham can capitalize on that.

Huddersfield looked quite stale today, but when they had their chance, they made it count. Newcastle forced them to try and break them down, and it looked like it was working as Huddersfield struggled to open up Newcastle. However, Newcastle were quite poor going forward on the other end with Hayden and Atsu being shambolic on the ball with Gayle being completely ineffective. Gayle, in particular, has really struggled to link up with Perez. He seems to be a player who'll need a target man to hold the ball up and play him into goal, but Perez is the exact opposite of that.
