Premier League Matchday 21 (January 1-3)

Why doesn’t Sane play on the right? I’d feel he’d be a lot more dangerous if he could cut in and get shots away as well.

Strange match. City doing peak Pep: passing relentlessly without any intention of trying to score. Liverpool being organised and showed one moment of quality.

Lots of the match is more about how successfully the two stubborn defenses can pass it out of the high-press than actually trying to score goals.

Exactly what I thought. It would help them if he is closer to Fernandinho and build from there. Aguero has been doing his job as well as being their main striker.

They did the same thing at Anfield and it worked handily. I think he's 'solved' his problem with Klopp. Don't contest the midfield and use long balls to the wide players to get at the fullbacks.

I'm sure the whole cafe's arse almost fell out when Stones booted that clearance into his own keeper!

What a recovery though, literally cms!

A whole bunch of meh so far. City looking a level below their best, Liverpool parking the bus trying to pick up scraps. Liverpool look a little more comfortable just hope City get the next one.

These teams for all their 'pressing' and 'playing out from the back' - don't come close to the likes of Barca when it comes to keeping composed and playing it out from the back and retaining the ball from the press.

Well Barcelona had Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta to play the ball into. Liverpool have Milner, Henderson and Wijnaldum...

City look sloppy doing that because David Silva has been abysmal, they are usually pretty good at that.

There will be a Liverpool chance. City can’t keep this pace up

Guess you didn't see Barca vs Betis.

#AnybodybutLiverpool trending on twitter.

Neutrals choice my arse, feck them in to the ground City.

I’ve never understood this “Neutral’s choice” that the English media like to peddle about Liverpool. Literally everyone hates them and wishes them to lose except for Liverpool fans.

When we parked the bus under Mourinho we showed nothing going forward. Liverpool look a threat and have had the best chance.

Maybe this season but last year we had one big chance that Lukaku missed at Anfield. Liverpool have literally had one chance so far.

City look the better team. Liverpool parking the bus for long periods relying on the counter. Second half they will have to totally change their approach which will open up the game a bit more. Should be very interesting. I expect City to win by at least 2 goals.

I nearly fell asleep, I‘m serious.

Liverpool is sitting to deep and playing the first pass forward too quick, which means it is usually a bad call. Cowardly approach.

City wants to play some football, but Laporte and Danilo are far from being great attacking fullbacks and both Silva‘s are gash. I know David Silva had some injury, but Bernardo Silva was supposed to be the next big thing this season and so far his big game performance has been deeply disappointing.

Considering Kompany and Laporte both have mobility of an oil tanker I wouldn't be surprised.

I personally think you lot have been completely shite in 1st half, I could sense the tension from my screen. So many sloppy mistakes in possession. Also, you are not keeping a CS so I don't understand your attackers slowing the play down after going 1 up. There were multiple chances of counter after that and all ended up with backpass.

100%, Aguero bailed them out with a worldie but they were very poor.

I don't think we've been that bad, we're playing Liverpool. We're doing what we always do, keeping the ball, waiting for opportunities to present themselves. Liverpool have created feck all as well but I expect more from them 2nd half. Its very similar to the Anfield game that finished 0-0 except we're much shakier at the back. We'll need a 2nd for sure and hope the red card doesn't come until the 80th minute. But we're def conceding and we're almost certainly getting that red.

City are better and look better.

Liverpool are nowhere near what they were when they smashed them.

Fully expect Liverpool to get something or everything.

I think going defensive and countering was the right approach but we're not implementing it very well.

City are pressing us well tbf but that midfield always lacks creativity going forward.

I know a fair few Arsenal fans who want Liverpool to win as its 'more competitive' and 'better for the league'. It makes me sick

Sourness defending Kompany with the “he’s not that kind of player” line of defence. He’s exactly that kind of player and that was a red all day.

oh do bog off with the ''possible red card'' - what do you expect him to do?

(Kompany)

Have you seen Barca play the last few seasons?

Sorry I meant Barca in their prime, but even more recent versions of Barca.. in the big games, they tried to play football albeit they have become more direct with the passing of time yet you wouldn't see as much careless losses of possession under pressure.

City need a couple more goals. Can't see Liverpool not scoring.
