Premier League Gameweek 9

We’ve got a weird mental block at your place. Players making daft mistakes and hiding. It’s just odd.

I’ll take the point and be happy with it considering how poor we were.

Thought you handled the game well in the first half but invited us on too much in the second. You needed more of a threat on the counter because the gaps were there.

I think you were fortunate we have so many injuries as if we hadn't I think we would have picked you off like we did Chelsea on the opening day with you chasing the game. Little chance of that though without a fit Pogba and Martial.

Our squad is just too thin at the moment but will take time.

I think the game would’ve been different if you had everyone fit. You lined up the way you did because of your injuries but with everyone fit there’s no way Solskjaer lines up with three CB’s.

it would’ve been a different game but it’s hard to know how. A fit Pogba would’ve been useful in that game though.

I spoke about this at length in a different thread about the unfair expectations Sky and the media are trying to dump on City. Here are the headlines for both games this weekend. A weekend where Liverpool were miles off form and we were absolutely brilliant.

How anyone could watch both games and come to the conclusion City were the nervous off colour ones is beyond me.

So the Champions of Europe could not beat a depleted United team for the second year running.

Ignore the media - they re only concerned with selling more. Watch the game and judge yourself.

Pretty much, they’re there for clicks and to build narratives. As much as we think it’s biased as does every fan it’s really not.

True, but if we win a title or a CL again nobody will be complaining. We just have a block at your place that we can’t ever seem to get a handle on. The tactics however did not help, with that size of pitch and the way United set up we needed to start with one of the subs instead of Henderson and then introduce the others depending on the game situation. They were solid but couldn’t progress the ball at all which has been an issue for us in certain games at points.

United played well but we lost a lot of 50/50 decisions and for a side with the amount of possession we had we committed an awful lot of fouls which isn’t usually the case. However if we play as we can do then the ref is largely a moot point. The implementation of VAR is a joke though, it’s going to help and hinder us at various points across the season but it needs to be evaluated.

It has nothing to do with city. Sky and other media wants Pool to win the league. I still remember the 2008-09 season when the media wanted Pool to beat us to the title.

While I agree with that yo an extent, its the fact if we don't win 8-0 we somehow struggled according to sky. Probably more a pep thing than city because of how dominant he usually is, but it reeks of double standards.

Nothing against Liverpool by the way, its just crazy expectations City are judged on in comparison.

Were the results swapped it would read comfortable Liverpool and lucky City.

What you state here still does not justify not having beat us with our present team.
That's no consolation for Liver***l fans and rather may feel like a loss of two points.

I think we're all focusing on the wrong team tonight. Utd also played FYI.

2 points off relegation places. Away to Norwich and Bournemouth and home to Brighton, among Thurs night games before next international break. International coaching of players quickly wearing off after tonight. Can see some draws in there.

Could have done with a guaranteed 3 points against a never-wins-at-OT manager/club.

Very disappointing. Couldn’t beat a team that is in the relegation race. I’m never going to expect 3 points ever again at OT. It will just make life easier expecting a draw and if it’s early in the season it will be bearable going forward.

No, no, no we must focus on Liverpool not United.

During the week Liverpool fans were sure of thrashing us with a great number of goals 5,6,7 !
It's certainly a disappointing result for Liverpool and not for United.

Admittedly I saw hundreds of posts saying that, but not me. My posting privilege on the main Man Utd thread have been revoked.

Any fan sure of a win at OT is deluded

I think you'll find that was your fellow United fans .

Fair result. United were disciplined and committed which was expected considering current situation United is in. Our performance was not great or bad, it was in line with how we have been for some time now but getting away with positive results. Old Trafford is always a difficult place. I think the only time I was confident of getting result at OT was during season 13/14 when Suarez was simply unstoppable and Moyes was the special one. We lack midfield creativity and that gets exposed when opponent is defending in numbers and set up for counter attack. In games likes this, I miss Coutinho.
My only complain today is about Klopp's starting line up. I do not rate Origi as starter and when I saw him in Line-up, I was pretty sure that he'd be the first one to get substituted. I would have liked Ox or even Lallana in starting line up. I think Klopp's substitution was on spot on and on time.
Next week a win is must against Spurs and considering their current plight, we'd be favorite but I dont think it will be an easy game. If we do manage to get a convincing win, I'd start to believe Poch has lost the team. I like Poch and find it hard to believe that resident Spurs fans here want him to go. I think for their current plight is due to their board with their salary policies, last minute purchases and inability to refresh the squad while they were on top.
As for United, today's result (and performance?)was great but I am not sure if this is the turning point for your season. Against open teams like us, Chelsea,Leicester your counter attack game would work but other teams who defend in numbers and onus is on United to create, i think you guys will struggle. No complaints or worry from me as long as Ole is in charge (and you don't get Poch in future.)

Leicester can still win the league here... If they can go on some massive unbreaten run scapping out many 2:1 wins along the way. They look very capable.

I bet alot of people have money on Leicester

If they can go on some momentum run again, which still looks in them, they will get CL football at the very least.

Jurgen does the same thing I’m cup finals and all too 6 sides away from home. He plays the occasion and not the game. That today was dreadful against the worst United side in decades. Totally unacceptable from Liverpool today.

Liverpool fans were atrocious yet again. Not a peep until they scored. Then they had the nerve to say our fans are shite  Twats.

For all their decline post Fergie i think City are the only big team to have a good record there since his retirement, we have a similar block at that ground as do Arsenal (despite you being miles better last season i actually fancied our chances more at Anfield than Old Trafford). I've lost count of the amount of times in recent years it's been perfectly set up for Chelsea/Liverpool/Arsenal to win there only for it not to happen, like today.

They don't have the week by week consistentcy anymore but they are always up for a big game at Old Trafford and apart from vs City tend to get a result.

It was the United fans who seemed convinced we’d batter than. These games never go like that.

Interesting run coming up for Solskjær now. I think they’ll beat Norwich but Bournemouth will be tough, plus there’s trips to Belgrade & Stamford Bridge too. One league win in nine now and a run of away games coming up.

It’ll be interesting to see where United are going into the next international break.

I do think it’s quite clear the players are behind the manager, however we were also capable of getting up for big games under Dalglish and Rodgers when we were shit but we just didn’t have the quality to do it week after week.

They can use this as a platform to go on a little run now or they could struggle again once faced with a different type of challenge. For us the great thing is we don’t have to do this again until next year and to get back on track and start a new run. Think one of keita Lallana or ox should always be starting from now on.

Everyone laughed at Bernard and Walcott before the game and then both played really well. We are an odd team right now but two things were clear for me - we should be starting Davies from now on - offers the same kind of energy which Gueye gave the midfield and we need that. Iwobi showed too that he deserves a start more often as a CAM. I’m surprised how well he can play there and thought we would use him more as a winger. Tbf whenever he’s played he’s down well and I’m impressed by his start so far with us.

So is Ozil permanently frozen out now? Seems like he doesn't have a future at Arsenal.

Iwobi is very good technically, and it was obvious his best position is central but no one wanted to play him there for Arsenal, maybe because of his built. I'm glad he's getting the opportunity at Everton.

What is the hate towards Emery from arsenal fans all about? I’m not sure if they just joking or not, but #emery out trending on twitter before a games kicked off. First tweet I read “get this Dracula looking nonce out my club!” So cruel on the guy.

That's just Twitter for you. Arsenal fans are among the worst (after our lot).

What does needing time to settle in have to do with missing an open goal?
