Premier League Gameweek 37

Oh, and GD is virtually gobbled up inside a game. Arsenal need to smash us to keep the former status quo.

They're going to come out on fire.

City GD now at 58 only 2 less than Arsenal. Won't be surprising if they overtake on GD as well.

City seal their 16th consecutive win against Fulham in all competitions. Last time they failed to beat Fulham was September 2011 (2-2 at Craven Cottage). Last time they lost was 2009 at Etihad. So one-sided.

Anyway, tomorrow and Tuesday are key probably as you'd expect both Arsenal to beat Everton and City to beat West Ham at home on the last day.

I don't think GD will come in to it, City would have to drop points (which is possible) but if City draw vs Spurs and Arsenal beat you guys which is what has to happen that gives Arsenal a minimum 3 goal advantage going in to the last game. Only way City win the goal difference race is if Arsenal drop some points which will make it pointless anyway.

We know Arsenal are going to get at least 20 shots at our goal tomorrow and if they are clinical they could easilly score a few.

If Arsenal beat us tomorrow and City draw to Spurs, Arsenal will be level on points with City, ahead only on GD (by a minimum of 3 goals depending on how much they beat us by). Final game of the season could be a shootout on who scores more in their final game v Everton/West Ham.

For GD to become relevant Arsenal would need to win their remaining two games, whereas City would need to draw one (most likely scenario). So there is probably at least +2-3 additional GD for Arsenal in that, and they are already up by two. It's very difficult to imagine a scenario where City win the league on GD.

Arsenal will come out on fire regardless, but they don't really need to pump up the goal difference.

I don't see this changing significantly even if Guardiola leaves. In fact, with Klopp gone there's no one to challenge them. Arsenal will fall off next season, which will leave City free to just stack them.
Well, that obviously depends on whether other teams get their sh!t together. I'm pretty sure City will see a signifcant drop-off once Guardiola leaves (and de Bruyne doesn't have that many seasons left either ).

They are playing West ham at home next week. I could easily see that game being a 5/6-0 to City. If your Arsenal you don't even want to leave that possibility so go in for the kill tomorrow and try and cover that off as much as possible.

Neither side is going to let up in scoring as many as they can, just in case.

Arsenal were always going to come out on fire, but what this means is they will continue along that same vein for the entirety of the game now as opposed to taking their foot off the peddle if up by a couple - they'll be driving for the 4th, 5th, 6th or however many we'll invite them to score.

100% charges aside, Pep leaves end of next season regardless and things will open up again. The man is practically unbeatable over a 38 games season when given a top team. Struggles in cup football a bit but in the league he's untouchable. There's only been like 3 seasons in his career so far he hasn't won the league.

When Pep goes regardless of whether City are still in the position they are or not, everyone will have a much better chance. Similar to prime United when they won like 7 or 8 titles in 10 years and people thought it was going to last forever, all it took was a change of manager.

Which could be their downfall tomorrow. I could easily see a repeat of Crystanbul in their pursuit of more goals, they let us back in it.

Doubt they will drop points to Spurs, but their last game is home to West Ham, who they could batter, so gd is not out of the question.

They look really good, can't see them being vulnerable against our calamitous lot. But we'll see.

Like, what are you seeing in recent weeks for that to even be a possibility? Mate facking Palace walked through us at will on Monday night.

Few interesting games coming up in 20 minutes. Burnley have to beat Spurs not to get relegated today and Luton have to avoid defeat at West Ham also not to get relegated today. So good chances whole relegation battle could be finished in few hours. What was the last time all 3 teams that got up previous season got relegated following year? Don't remember that happening, at least not over last decade or so.

Tottenham surely desperate for a win finally after 4 defeats in a row and 5th place still not secured. They also have small chance of getting 4th still as Villa haven't been great lately either and got to play Liverpool tomorrow and at Palace on final day (they've been good recently as well).

You guys are due one big performance, you'll either beat Arsenal or win the cup but probably not both.

Interesting that Villa play today after playing in Greece on Thursday night.

We're at home and our players are game raising cnuts. I couldn't see us doing anything against Liverpool (twice) and yet they surprised us (twice). Also lads, it's Arsenal. Stranger things have happened.

No, that is not true. They can't get their shit together. Well, maybe Newcastle can, as I forgot about them. But the rest? No. You basically need two teams at this point to meet the demands of the insane calendar and remain consistent enough to win the biggest prizes. And only Newcastle and City can do that, because they have infinite money and the rules don't apply to them.

To be honest, I think the Premier League is heading for a massive crash unless those two clubs are brought in line. But I don't see this happening for obvious reasons.

Arsenal are a level above Liverpool. It will also not be a basketball game like that was. Arsenal will dominate possession.

To make this a really shit ending, we lose tomorrow and then spurs beat city.

Think Arsenal will beat us easily and City will beat West Ham easily so it all depends on tomorrow really and City against Spurs.

I guess they could be thinking along those lines, sure. Still, let's just say that they beat us 2-0 tomorrow, and City draw with Spurs on Tuesday. In that scenario, City would then need to beat West Ham with a score of 4 goals higher than what Arsenal beat Everton with. Granted that's not impossible, but still pretty unlikely. I'd say Arsenal won't really need anything beyond 3-0 in terms of GD, which I imagine will come very easily to them.

Game we raised for was Liverpool in the cup. In league it was 0-1 until Quansah's mistake and that brought us back in life, it was really bad until that moment.

Yeah, exactly. Can't really see how it wouldn't be like that. Pep has this team performing on an incredibly high level year in and year out. Great players, sure, but it takes a great manager to have them performing like this all the time.

I don't think so at all. There are a lot of clubs in the PL who can spend insane amount of money, United included. There's no reason these clubs shouldn't be able to compete. Liverpool managed to do so with a considerably lower budget than the likes of Chelsea and United (and even Arsenal) and would have had 3 titles if it wasn't for City having Pep.

Only 3 times Pep has lost a title in his career so far.. 2012 Real Madrid of Jose Mourinho, 2017 Chelsea of Antonio Conte and 2020 Liverpool of Jurgen Klopp. Thats it.

Real Madrid - 100 points
Liverpool 99 points, 26W 1D in their first 27 games

Chelsea was his first and only year with a non-juggernaut squad, and it came down to poor finishing and conceding on virtually every shot(the big data metrics still showed them to be the best team in the league in terms of chances created vs conceded)

If Luton go down and Doughty wants to leave I'd be tempted to try and cash in on Myko and make a move. He's a terrific attacking LB.
