Premier League Gameweek 35-37 + FA Cup semis

I'm glad Liverpool have killed off all of the "best team in premier league" history talk in such spectacular fashion, it was getting quite tiresome
Has it? They checked out after clinching the title, but until then they were arguably the most dominating side in a single season.

Liverpool players already on holiday. I just hope they beat chelsea

Only thing we hope for is Liverpool dislikes Chelsea enough and that they'll be more motivated on trophy day and their unbeaten home record.

According to livescore stats liverpool had 2/3rds possession, 13 corners and 25 goal efforts. Arsenal scored with just about their only 2 shots on target.

Seems like a smash and grab.

Was it? I didn't see it

Oh well on to Palace and fingers crossed for a good performance from the Blades

Weird game, we definitely aren’t sharp or intense enough but they’re one of the worse sides we’ve played all season.

Things I've learned from watching this game:
- Arsenal and Chelsea are lucky cnuts
- Salah has forgotten how to finish
- Origi and Keita are shit
- We should have signed Mane
- Arteta is on (the same thing as) Pep

So fecking poor, turning it on late when you've had all second half. This 'on the beach' mode and 'yeah but we're champs' from fans needs knocking on the head too. If I knew winning the league so early would see us playing like this I'd rather it have gone right to the wire with City, at least we would have tried to keep up our competitive levels. They need a fecking rocket up their arse for Chelsea.

A game where stats don’t tell the full story. Arsenal really should’ve scored a third through Willock and Liverpool didn’t create a clear cut chance.

Title winning teams this Liverpool side are better than IMO

Blackburn. Leicester. Chelsea 2010 and 2017, United 2011 and 2013

The idea they are the greatest PL side of all time is hilarious.

Liverpool could now finish the season with the same if not less points than they got last season. That highlights how far Man City have regressed in the last 12 months.
Not really. Liverpool have been on the beach since the restart, and City even longer than that. Their league form this season has been a combination of weirdness and lack of motivation once it became clear they weren't catching liverpool

Meanwhile they won the league cup, and are favourites to both FA cup and CL

They regressed from last season, sure, but it's like they want from 10/10 to 9/10. They're still one of the best sides ever

Sack Klopp

Sell Alisson and Van Dijk

Championship level carpenters masquerading as footballers

Momentum is important in football, and any sport for that matter, and Liverpool have completely lost it. Worrying going into next season.

I wouldn't disagree with that. The media has over hyped us as much as our own fans have.

Our fans should simply enjoy it instead of wanting to be held in some higher regard.

Record books wont show that though. Its going to be tough for this seasons Liverpool to say they were better City in 17/18.

Did I dream up City's Centurions?
If Liverpool didn't clinch the title in the 31st match of the season, they would have easily reached 100 points. Similarly, if City would have had no competition last year, they wouldn't reach 100.

It is always like this. Crazy total amount of points from a club happens only when they are challenged by some other club.

Alexander-Arnold was awful in that regard. Didn't beat the first man once tonight.

He played a beautiful reverse ball into Mane on the left side of the penalty area near the end which Mane controlled but he was swarmed by Arsenal defenders quickly and it came to nothing. Great vision, though.

They probably won't but I don't think it means much. Same as how the Invincible Arsenal are not the best team ever in EPL (or close by).

Until Liverpool clinched the title, they were easily the most dominant force I have ever seen in EPL, and if they had a half-decent challenger they would have easily reached 100+ points. The only silver lining is that they fecked up hard in Europe (despite being quite better than Atletico), so I think that United 99 and United 08 are the best teams in the history of EPL.

Honestly, this is revisionism. They were pretty shite well before they clinched the title. In their last six games before the lockdown, they won only two, losing to Atletico twice and Watford (0-3) and Chelsea (0-2), scraping past West Ham, and Bournemouth by single goal margins. And before that, they only beat Shrewsbury and Norwich 1-0. That's a pretty poor run going back to early March.

It's not like City were challenged in any way in 2018. Remember, that's when they got the 100 points.

Pretty much. Liverpool threw the game away quite inexplicably after taking the lead then missed quite a few chances in the second half.

Yes. As one sided a game as you’ll ever see. Both Arsenal goals gift wrapped defensive howlers. They were second best all over the pitch despite Liverpool making loads of sloppy mistakes. Arsenal didn’t deserve shit from that performance.

Fair enough, we ended 19 points below them.

In any case, I don't think that the form after clinching the title really matters. Job done, a victory or a defeat after that match when they got the title means nothing IMO.

This is actually a much better argument than not reaching 100 points. With Atletico they fecked it up, despite being the far better team. Luckily so, cause if the cnuts would have defended UCL, while winning the league in 31 (or was it 32) matches or so, they would have had a shot at best team ever, let alone best in EPL.

In any case, while there are clubs that did double (UCL + League) or even triple, I think it is unfair to consider others as best in the history of the league.

Good interview from Arteta there I thought. He comes across well.
Yeah I like him. He’s doing pretty well IMO.

Looked a bit shaky after the Brighton game but he’s steadied the ship pretty well since then with good wins against Sheffield Utd, Wolves and also tonight.
