Premier League Gameweek 35-37 + FA Cup semis

This Sheffield United game reminds me of the CL final in 2009 where I felt hopeless, and it's not because Leicester are good it's because Sheffield United are so bad

Villa have been so poor all season. They have left themselves with too much to do now.

To be fair we expected Bournemouth to lose, so one win and one loss, I would have taken that before the fixtures. We just need to do our job now.

We win our next two, Leicester win at Spurs and Chelsea lose at Anfield and ourselves and Leicester shake hands on a draw on the final day to screw Chelsea over.

Bad result for us that. Means we need a result on the last day at Leicester no matter what now.

Apparently we need a draw or win, as a poster above put, it's on the head to head record now, not goal difference (if we're level on points)

Head-to-head records
If two or more clubs finish level in the table when competing for the title or European qualification, or when relegation is at stake, their records in the head-to-head matches will now be used to separate them.

As @adam118 has pointed out

Isn't there a scenario where United and Leicester can play for a draw and both get top four on the final day, at Chelsea's expense?

Id bloody love to see West Ham and their absurd taxpayer funded (I believe we even pay for their nets and corner flags?) stadium get relegated

yes, Chelsea lose to Liverpool, we and Leicester win our games and draw in the final game.

Man Utd Starting XI
  • 1 de Gea
  • 29 Wan-Bissaka
  • 2 Lindelöf
  • 5 Maguire
  • 24 Fosu-Mensah
  • 39 McTominay
  • 6 Pogba
  • 26 Greenwood
  • 18 Bruno Fernandes
  • 10 Rashford
  • 9 Martial
McTominacy in for Matic, Fosu-Mensah in for Shaw.

There is no chance of Leicester beating Spurs away with Son in form and Wes Morgan at the back. I don’t understand why people are so interested in Leicester, it’s about United’s own results. If one cannot beat Soton at home when it really matters, perhaps CL isn’t the place for this team. Palace will be easy though, they are absolute shit.

We need them to roll over for a belly rub in the next match. Theyd better beat watford and be safe.

i can't believe how many people do not know the tie breaker for the prem. sweet jesus.

As @adam118 has pointed out
Just read the full thing, okay? Particularly this part:

In 2019/20 the team who have collected the most points in the head-to-head duels between the sides lying level on points, goal difference and number of goals scored, will take the highest finishing position, while the team with the fewest will take the lowest place.

That's only if the teams are level on points, gd, goals scored. If teams are level on just points its gd that decides the position.
That’s rubbish. Read the article it says after goal difference and goals scored.

Yes I stand corrected, I think United need 2 goals in each fixtures to make sure there's enough GD, a draw or win against Leicester will suffice in that case.

This will either finish in a United thrashing or resolute Palace draw.

Shame that Aston Villa nearly win would have shaken things up a bit at the bottom , West ham/ Watford play out a draw and it will probably be enough to send the other two down I reckon.

It's not a frequent occurrence where two teams finish level on points going for European spots and with rule changes.

I knew it was goal difference previously and the Spanish system was head-to-head, but another poster showed an excerpt to make the goal difference seem plausible.

Either way I do not know the whole FIFA code of conduct either, I'm not a football expert

What I don't understand is the doom and gloom after the Southampton game. Even if we had won, we'd still have to go and win tonight or else we'd be 5th again.

The Southampton game is done, it still stands that if we win our games we're in the Top 4. We'll beat Leicester, they've looked average for a while now. No chance that backline deals with our front 4.

We'll learn more about our squad in these last 3 games than all season. If we can't beat Palace, West Ham and Leicester then what's the point us being in the CL anyway?

We qualified for the CL with Jose through the Europa League and were knocked out by Sevilla in the second round. CL qualification isn't everything. Trust what we're seeing on the pitch, it's been better than what we've seen for years.

Draw still wouldn’t be a terrible result. We have to get a result at Leicester now on the final day anyway and I’d rather we have to win and it’s Leicester who can throw it away rather than us going into it needing a draw and inevitably looking nervy and setting up defensively to avoid defeat.
