Premier League Gameweek 17-19

We played better under Ole
Barely. Same basic set up. Sit off, cede control, and try hit fast going forward. They’ve even been doing the go behind in every second game before a second half comeback to get points. We just had a better team than Spurs do now.

Anyone still think we're a joke of a club for not getting Conte?
He’s a class manager if you give him an underperforming squad good enough to win titles. Give him a Spurs team with glaring issues and it’s a different story.

we also had loads of glaring issues so he’d have probably been shite here too.

short answer; I’m glad we got Erik.

Hopefully Spurs keep Conte for a while longer but surely he'll be given the chop at some point this season? His football is dire and he's getting zilch out of this squad

We're still just a Kane penalty and Son bit of magic away from the resident Spurs fans turning up to let us know what a genius Conte is again.

We played better than this though. Better team or not isn't the question

It’s hardly a great squad though, is it? When Kane and Son aren’t performing they have feck all about them.

sorry but Wolves are atrocious.
They just changed managers and Lopetegui is a decent manager! They're front 3 is atrocious yes (big part due to injuries) but their defence and midfield especially is good - far better than any of the other in the bottom half. So I do give them hope, but they need reinforcements in attack.

That's a pretty niche market!

ETH brought in 5 players and transformed us. Conte brought in 5 players and they made no difference. And at his best his teams are not very entertaining. I think the club were bang on to avoid him.

Don’t get the fuss about him. Good player but they’ve been going on like they’ve unearthed some absolute diamond. The Swedes don’t even bang on about him as much as Spurs do.
I think he compliments Kane and son well.

Was a good signing and helped them get top4 last season (amongst other factors of course)

Sitting in 4th spot, 4 pts behind City in 2nd and a game in hand on 3rd and 5th. Happy New Year everyone! :D

Our game against them was worse than a League 2 game. Both sides were embarrassingly poor for the Prem.

He‘s just been named Sweden player of the year

he spent loads in the summer.

Conte has brought more than 5 hasn’t he? He got players in last Jan too

Not a big fan of Conte myself - but in fairness, Spurs havent got a top-4 squad

Squad you may be right but with everyone fit their first choice XI is better than their form this season

Not the best no but the football shouldn't be this bland if they're not getting results. A more progressive manager would at least make them a bit more tolerable to watch. They're up there with Wolves for me in terms of entertainment value.

Yeah he’s a good player, that’s what good players do but he’s only been there 6 months at that point and he was ‘world class’ apparently, they’d ‘robbed’ Juventus.

Call me old fashioned but play consistently well for 3 seasons and we’ll start talking about what a quality player is.

Nah it's a good squad.
Kane, son and Kulusevski in attack with Richarlison and Lucas as depth is nothing to sniff at. Bentancur, Hojbjorg, Bissouma is good and solid as well, but lacking a more creative guy IMO (which is why Kulusevski is vital), Romero obviously is a class CB and Lenglet is also good. Lloris is good too.

They have shite fullbacks, Contes system is built defensively and to be a 343 which isn't ideal for them IMO, and they should get a creative midfielder. And they've accumulated loads of garbage squad players. But put Ten Hag in charge of their squad with that front 3 and he'd work wonders IMO, there's enough quality pieces and almost a quality first 11. Much easier to fix a creative mid and fullbacks than the positions they do have sorted.

Son Kane Kulusevski
Bentancur Bissouma Hojbjorg
Davies Lenglet Romero Doherty
Lloris

Wasn't it gnev who got absolutely trashed here for saying he didn't want conte

I did think at the time based on what he did with Chelsea and Inter that he was the perfect man to revitalise our squad, not going to lie. Then Ralf came and it became clear there were far more deep rooted issues than simply not getting enough out of the squad. We did well to avoid him in the end.

EtH was clearly the right choice. Thank feck we actually made the right choice for a change.

Romero very lucky.

I think this is fair

he spent loads in the summer.
Yeah conte has been backed with half a lineup in two windows. He just sets them up so poorly until they concede one or two

Amen. I did think Ralf could shake us up too, and wouldn't have protested too much at Conte, considering how dire and desperate we were.
