Premier League - Gameweek 15

Can someone explain to me how on Earth that a club so haphazardly run like Chelsea, by an American billionaire, is doing so well? What the hell are we doing wrong!?? Surely we can’t be that different?

They chuck money at players with actual ability.

Such a Spurs performance.

Chelsea look better than Liverpool if you ask me.
Not with that defence they don't.

Ironically, they're playing like Liverpool in the season where Gerrard slipped at the end. Just outscoring teams while conceding loads.

Big deal. City don’t seem the type of club to give in to flavour of the month managers.
They’ll go for whatever the best available manager is. No one’s winning anything with spurs. Just the way it is.. managers aren’t going to be judged after leaving them

Playing some great football, but their limitations to going the distance will be the CB partnership and Sanchez in goal.

Will go the closest though as it stands.

They bought 400 players, someone was eventually going to make it work.

They've recruited well, got the right structure in place from the get go and backed the right manager.

This is a mad take. His teams are absolutely suicidal and can’t defend. They were 2-0 up here.

He isn’t a top coach.
Never said he’s a top coach but he’ll land another big job. Managers aren’t judged after spurs. Fergie wouldn’t win anything with them

They spent 1B on young players. They get rid of the manager when he's not getting anything from the players. They don't wait 3 years to do anything.

Money spent and no distraction of European football the expectation last season was top four for Chelsea.

Getting them to play well when top four chance was gone was very poor under the over rated Poch let's be honest.
I think you're overstretching there.

The spending was chaotic and took a long time to gel. They were markedly better after Christmas and there was no expectation in reality of converting 12th to 4th given the Boehly daftness and long term injuries in their back line during that season too

Poch took them from 12th and out in the first round of both domestic cups to 6th, a cup final and a semi.

Liverpool just seem extremely reliant on Salah.

You're giving them too much credit before they've done anything.

They bought every player available while spending loads and kept cycling managers, one of whom seems to be the right one in the moment.

Huge win for Chelsea and looking at their run of fixtures it's really opening up for them.
Still don't think they've got enough, but they've finally shown just throwing 75-100m at loads and loads of players eventually pays off.

What? it’s a third of the way of the season and they’ve finished outside the top 5 last two seasons. We haven’t even had more than 1 season in a row out the top 4 and have had numerous seasons in the last 10 years where we’ve been looking half decent at this stage, but still a decent way off the top, same as they are. People on here make out like we’ve been battling relegation for 12 years.
Ye but have we actually ever been in a title challenge? I don’t think so. All the 2nd place finishes since fergie left haven’t been classes as challenging for the title and usually teams that finish 2nd more or less go onto become regular challengers for a few years. We finish 2nd and then go onto miss out on the CL the year later by finishing 6th both times. And actually we have 15/16 season and 16/17 season we finished 5th and 6th.

Liverpool just seem extremely reliant on Salah.
True. But their strategy of "get the ball, give it to Salah" has been working for close to a decade now.

No reason to expect anything different this season.

Exactly. The difference between Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal is that Liverpool have done it and they have Salah who is just inevitable.

Hopefully I jinx it.

People keep bringing up the money they’ve spent as being a reason why there doing as well as they are but we’ve also spent a ton of money over the years and are still awful. As anyone mentioned that Maresca is doing a decent job… does anyone think potter would be 2nd with them and with the same team?

If he were to land another big job, that team wouldn’t be paying attention to what he has done here. It just doesn’t work in a top league. The defending today was worse than anything you’ll see from anyone else in the division.

He has had time to work with the players and that should be unacceptable.

Crazy how quickly Chelsea have surpassed us.

It's not too long ago people were laughing at them being a banger club but I could see what they were building.

I got laughed at a while back for saying they were closer to being a top side than us.

They used to have Mané on the other side and Firmino was pretty good too.

Yes you’re right. That doesn’t change the fact it’s not “amazing how quickly a club can turn things round” as you say we’ve been in a similar cycle before. If Chelsea catch Liverpool and win the league it’s a different story. As great as that’d be they’re still in a much inferior position.

Other than two slips we are fully in control. Well done. Enzo Fernandez getting into score sheet third match on the bounce. Onwards and upwards.

There's levels though aren't there.
Just a a centre mid combo they have spent about 220million! Then you add up all the likes of Mydryk and assorted gubbers who are now fringe players.

Unfortunately he would have been a much better option in amorims system than garnacho or rashford
I agree. He has the technical ability to play as one of the 10s. I’m hoping Amorim decides to make a change and plays Amad in one of the 10s now that with have Yoro back or frees up Maz and Dalot for WB position.

I don't think he's an Amorim player at all.

Don't be fooled. He's a bit part player at Chelsea and things are going well at the moment. When the chips are down you can't rely on him.

I agree. But we’re the last fans that should be complaining about that. The amount of money we’ve spent on awful players. Antony alone was like 90m and he’s now a fringe player. Pogba who we re signed for like 90m then let go free. So to be fair we’re just as bad as them when it comes to wasting money.

He definitely is an Amorim player. We need to stop confusing a player and a person. We don’t want him at our club due to attitude problems. When he’s in form he’s miles above Rashford in terms of quality.
