Premier League Gameweek 1

This Trafford fella will become a game raising cnut at Old Trafford won't he? The headlines write themselves.
I can see it in The S*n right now, after Burnley take an early lead, defending for their lives for the rest of the game, Martial missing 3 x 1v1s, and Trafford raising his game making a last minute penalty save.

0-1D Trafford.

Whenever players grab a drink they always pour out a bit before taking a sip. Anyone know why?

Allowed to stop games until you've got your substitute ready now are you?

The act of pouring out a bit of a drink before taking a sip, often referred to as "toasting" or "pouring one out," has cultural and historical significance in various contexts. While the specific reasons may vary across cultures and traditions, here are some common explanations:

  1. Respect for the Deceased: Pouring out a bit of a drink is often done as a symbolic gesture to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away. This practice is especially common at gravesites, memorial services, or significant anniversaries. It's a way to share a drink with those who are no longer present.
  2. Offering to Spirits or Deities: In some cultures and religious practices, pouring out a small amount of a drink is an offering to spirits, ancestors, or deities. It's a way of showing respect and seeking favor or protection from these higher powers.
  3. Celebration and Toasting: Pouring out a bit of a drink before taking a sip can also be part of a celebratory ritual, such as toasting to good health, success, or happiness. It's a way of acknowledging the importance of the occasion and expressing gratitude.
  4. Superstition and Warding Off Evil: Some believe that pouring out a small amount of a drink before consuming it can help ward off bad luck, evil spirits, or negative energy. It's seen as a protective measure.
  5. Sharing with the Earth: Pouring out a libation, or a small offering of a drink, can be a way of sharing with the Earth or nature. This practice is often associated with indigenous cultures and can be a way of giving back to the land.
  6. Historical Origins: In ancient times, pouring out a bit of a drink might have been a practical way to ensure that the drink was safe to consume. By discarding a small amount, any potential contaminants or toxins could be eliminated before the person took a sip.
  7. Social and Cultural Norms: In some cases, pouring out a bit of a drink before sipping might be a tradition passed down through generations, even if the original meaning or purpose has been lost over time. It can become a habitual and customary behavior.
It's important to note that the reasons for pouring out a drink can vary widely depending on the cultural, religious, and historical context. Different cultures and individuals may have their own unique explanations for this practice.

Thanks ChatGPT. Kids play football and run out of water, so we used to pour out before drinking..

Edit, so kids used to pour into their mouth.

It becomes a superstition

It seems like the only solution City have to the Burnley organization is to go long to Haaland. It's working so

For all of the obsession over Peps tactics, the sneaky truth is he tended to just stick KDB next to haaland and play much more direct any time he needed a result.

It’s a far cry from the flying City days with Sane etc.

Burnley look like they'll score soon. I'm sure they'll sign a few important players before end of window. Think they could be a dark horse for a top half finish. 18 year old Koleosho looks very talented

Wonder how many games injury prone Kovacic will miss this season.

With Pep’s Magic Juice Voodoo Doc, I’m expecting him to play every game.

He’s a huge downgrade on Gundogan though, so there’s that.

For the first time since Pep came in City's attacking depth looks light. Getting rid of Gundogan and Mahrez has left them light. Only Grealish really to cover the wide positions on the bench. If they get an injury to any of the wide forwards and/or Paquetta looks average like he has at West Ham, could be a big opportunity in the league and CL.

I like Trafford, he’s full of confidence for a young man and has recovered well from conceding from the first shot he faced in the PL.
