Premier League Festive Season

This is a Manchester Utd forum and you're not happy with me being happy about Manchester City losing.

Liverpool winning the league is shit, of course it is I don't disagree. But are you going to mope on here every time City lose and say "Yeah but Liverpool will win the league". There is no title race, it's over. Liverpool will win the title. Just try and enjoy watching City look a mess.

When we won the derby a few weeks ago were you upset?
Nicely played sir

Tell that to Ole ;)
He and the team done well to take points of them and we should have actually won but 17 wins in 18 games is remarkable. Can't see anyone putting up a challenge against those bastards anytime soon. By the time Klopp's gone they'll probably be on 21 unless City goes on a rampage spending spree.

I'm sick of people chuntering on about club legends.

Brilliant servant as a player, no arguments there.

Absolutely shambolic that he was ever appointed manager though and he's killing us as a top level entity.

We will be in the wilderness for the next decade thanks to OGS.

This just isn't true.

At the very least he's bringing in the right kind of player and developing the younger players in the squad.

I'm quite optimistic than when he does go he'll leave a squad which is much better equipped to challenge for titles than any of the other managers we've had since Fergie.

I've said it before but I don't see how they can sustain this form. They have unbelievable luck with injuries for the most part. Everyone will call me wrong again but if City had as little disruption to their team as Liverpool have had the gap would be a lot smaller IMO.

Laporte has been a huge miss.

This "bringing the right players in" argument is a myth.

James is a rotation player at best for a proper team, while Maguire and AWB are both extremely limited.

Had to laugh at the excitement of AWB putting an accurate cross in yesterday – TAA does that in his sleep.

Agreed.

Ok sorry everything is shit and there's absolutely no cause for optimism ever.

Got it.

Despite him not being near the level of TAA, AWB is still a big improvement on Valencia/Young. He's also young and can still improve his ability going forward. Now if we got a top quality left back who can attack, then we need not worry so much about AWB's lack of offensive ability.

Things in football change quickly. Many were predicting a City dinasty forming and here we are, they're collapsing.

AWB is a MUCH BETTER defender than TAA, while the opposite applies at the other end of the pitch. I don’t think this makes AWB not near TAA’s level. I’d say overall they are closely matched. TAA is also flattered a bit by being surrounded by quality intelligent players in forward positions - it’s easier to look good playing in that team atm.

No doubt AWB does have work to do on his crossing and general passing, as it’s the modern way in his position, but TAA is so bad at defending people are now actively discussing moving him into a different position.

Ay I meant TAA being better in terms of offensive contribution. Should have clarified.

TAA defended really well last night I thought. There was one occasion where he had to cover his CB's and did so like a seasoned pro. That side of his game is only going to get better.

Wolves seem to have the number of both Manchester clubs..Ahhh and we gotta play them in FA Cup at the Molineux. Well ,I don't give us much of a chance there.

Watch Wolves roll over for Liverpool next after their heroics today.

I wouldnt be surprised if wolves rested some key players. They have a really busy schedule and games like the cup one vs us or the watford one a few days after the pool game is a much higher priority for them.

Lose a battle but win the war mentality

The reason it has been suggested to move Trent to another position isn’t because of his defensive ability. It’s borne out of the idea that a player with such an exceptional right peg and creative craft in his locker should not be ‘wasted’ at full back. It’s a view that has been promoted almost solely by English ex-pros who learnt their trade in the 1980s when 4-4-2 was king and full-backs were typically the weakest players on the park. It’s completely ignorant of how the modern possession game works where attacking width is primarily provided by full-backs and someone with Trent’s skill set is invaluable.

Alexander-Arnold is afforded so much space and time on the right that he wouldn’t necessarily get as a no.6 or a no.8, for example. I’m not sure he’d be as effective in midfield at all, and even less so without the ball, as he’s regularly caught ball-watching and losing men over his shoulder. I think he’d be a liability in midfield, personally.

That's a foul on Mendy. Traore has shoved him out of the way.

Was there an infallible VAR check on it?

Bournemouth been so lucky to build a solid early season points, they would be dead and buried already without that. Seem so soft atm.

Did manage to beat us and Chelsea though. I still think they will stay up with Villa going down. The squad they have is pretty good going forward. Not the best central midfield though.

They beat Us before the injury crisis started for them and they still had the momentum and grit. Chelsea has had some weird results as of late, but outside those 2 I have seen very very soft Bournemouth.

That game against Bournemouth from us was a complete disaster though just like our game against Newcastle away.
We could barely get any shoots on goal.

Can’t believe we actually lost to Bournemouth. We lost to a lot of crap teams this season that it’s nauseating

Bournemouth was the last game I was bloody confident we would win and we didn't. Maybe Everton too, but I did fear a draw in that one.

Yeah, to be honest I think it's pretty clear Ole just isn't good enough to be a success here and much as I love him he should probably go.

But there's ways to go about it, giving him insulting nicknames and hoping that we lose games is just pathetic.
Totally agree.

Bournemouth lucky to only be one down. Brighton look dangerous going forward.

Bournemouth outlet seems to be King. He looks a threat
