Premier League Festive Season (Gameweek 18-20)

What??
They get the free kick they are entitled to, they don't have to defend the rest. Simple.surely?

How long back do we go then? By that logic literally every single decision is leading to the team being in certain situation. Point is this would count as a new situation as SHU regained possession. Twice even. And ample time to do something with it. AVL get fecked here.

And now again. WTF

Thank feck they didn’t give that penalty, would’ve just given up and become a cricket fan

Am I being incredibly dense and missing something here.

The Sheffield United player literally batted the ball away with his arm and no pen. Barely even a mention of it either.

He did. One thing for the ref to miss it. Another for the incompetent bum in the VAR room not to notice.

Villa get sight of the top and seize up. Happens so often. That’s why the same teams pump out titles.

I mean, doesn’t help the ref is protecting the SHU goal better than SHU…

It was literally 15 seconds, the whole situation wouldn't have happened had it been blown.
It was literally the same phase of play!!

Who knows?

Should really do what they do in rugby at times and look for the first foul.

Yeah that should be it of they're going to do that type of thing. They seem to get tied up in knots looking for reasons to disallow it and then what's considered a foul on the goalie isn't considered a foul on the forward which is a nonsense.

Villa will receive an apology from PGMOL and get a cheap call against whoever they're facing on Boxing Day.

What's considered the same phase of play isn't determined by time, is it?
“The starting point for a phase of play that leads to a goal or penalty incident will be limited to the immediate phase and not necessarily go back to when the attacking team gained possession.

Other factors for consideration will be the ability of the defence to reset and the momentum of the attack.“

Think defence had a chance and threw it away? New phase for me

It isn’t determined by time and even if it was: 15 seconds would be more than enough. How long should SHU be in possession? They got the ball, hence a new situation. I wouldn’t consider that the same phase of play at all.

This is why people dive to the ground! You get no reward for standing up, absolute straight red if he goes down

Absolutely, at least two defenders had the opportunity to clear that ball.

It's ridiculous, just look for reasons to disallow goals.

Sheffield Utd score and all, not a good eebening for Villa at all.

PGMOL will do everything but have competent people in charge.

How long before PL clubs hire elbowing coaches ? Seems you can do it every week and nothing is ever called

I dont know how anybody can take this sport seriously. Its just sad to watch now.

I know Carragher moaned there’d be freeze frames that make it look bad but…

There was no angle that shows the S Utd keeper got fouled, only an angle showing a hand on his arm. Call the ref over for that, you call the ref over for Watkins incident first half.

VAR is determining games not ref… and don’t start with the “it’s still the refs decision”, it’s a done deal every time.
