Premier League 14/1/25 - 20/1/25

Imagine how long those Arsenal players will take to pay tribute to someone? Takes than 3 minutes to take a fecking corner.

Seeing a bit of back and forth on here about whether Liverpool are clear favorites, so I had a look at the numbers in terms of points left and what might get us over the line.

Liverpool currently sit on 47 points from 20 games, with 18 games left (54 points) to play for. Means Liverpool can finish on 101 points maximum.
Forest are in 2nd on 21 games played and 41 points. 51 points left to play for. They can finish on 92 maximum.
Arsenal are in 3rd on 40 points having played 20 games. 54 points left to play for. They can finish on 94 max.

If Liverpool were to win 12, draw 3 and lose 3 of their remaining 18, they would finish on 86 points.

For Forest to reach 86 points, they would need to win 15/17 of their remaining fixtures.
For Arsenal to hit 86 points, they would need to win 15/18 of their remaining fixtures and at least one draw. One of those games is at Anfield where Arsenal haven't won since 2012.
This also assumes that one of them has a superior GD to Liverpool, which neither do currently. Arsenal's is only 6 behind.

For Chelsea to hit 86 points, they (currently on 37) would need to win 16 of their remaining 17 fixtures and a draw.
City would need to win 17/17 from this point.

In order for someone else other than Liverpool to win the league from here you need a monumental collapse, and a very strong run of form from Arsenal or Forest (Chelsea and City aren't realistic).
Given your current run of form where you've dropped points in 4 of 7, the fact that you have a lot of tough away games left, and with Salah's form tailing off, there's a good chance you do drop in even more games. Liverpool are definitely clear favorites right now but if Arsenal go on the kind of run they have in the last two years (unlikely but possible), I'd back them to win the title because I do see Liverpool stuttering even more. Forest and Chelsea are, quite frankly, irrelevant in these title race discussions imo.

I think a couple of those games deserve some context. Newcastle away is a fixture Arsenal have already lost. Fulham at Anfield we were down to 10 men for 75 minutes and still should've won the game. Last night we should've won as well with how the game went after we equalized (Forest didn't have much apart from their goal). United is the only game I've been fully disappointed with in terms of performance.

I'd be more concerned if performances had fully dropped off as well but I'm yet to see that. We also have 6 of our remaining 8 home games against the bottom six. You would expect 18 points from those, and we're not going to lose every away game.

Do you expect a Saka-less Arsenal to go on that kind of run?

I think it goes unnoticed how many saves Pickford makes that other PL keepers don't make. He's turned into a very dependable keeper over the past few years.

To be very honest, I don't. That being said, if they do win today and its down to 4 points, albeit with a game in hand, I think they'll believe they can chase this down. Again, the fact that Liverpool haven't put this race to bed, the way they could have in the last month, will give them some hope. I do see Liverpool as favorites but I don't think its even close to being done.

True. But at the moment, it doesn't seem you're capable of winning many either.

But yeah, Arsenal look unlikely to go on the kind of run required to catch up and overtake you. That's the frustrating thing for every non-Liverpool fan. The long awaited blip is here and no one's near enough to benefit.

Plus I saw that you're playing them at Anfield pretty late in the season. That's a huge advantage for you considering you'll be at home and you'll know exactly what result would be needed/sufficient.

Sterling-Havertz-Trossard is a rather average frontline.

Hope Spurs can get a result here. I do enjoy the Arsenal meltdown.

We look like a team that's trying to learn how to play football again.

“For the 197th time…”

People usually only start sentences like that when they’re telling you off

See that’s a yellow for Sterling. Loses it and then slows the counter down. Fecks me off that teams get away with those.

An absolute eternity is going to be spent watching Arsenal take corner's and FK's

I said the same on Sunday but just how many free kicks do Arsenal get a game around the opposition area? It seems like one every couple of minutes.
