Premier League 12/2/25 - 16/2/25

This Liverpool side isn't very impressive at all.

The offside Salah goal and the jota penalty dive seemed to remove all the fight from them. Champions need more character than that.

If Arsenal can keep it up, Liverpool will drop points. They have been dog shit this last month.

Thought the ref was atrocious. Card happy for Wolves, but refused to get them out for the scousers. Diaz and Jota both should’ve been booked for diving at absolute minimum.

Just looking at Liverpools remaining fixtures. Still have to go to City but otherwise they've played a lot of the tough away fixtures.
They do have a run in late April/May where they play Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal on consecutive weekends so if Arsenal are still within 5-7 points things could get interesting.

Our game against Arsenal is going to be horrible. Hate the gunners but a win for us would be a big shot in the arm for Liverpools title ambitions.

United have been rather good in the big games though havent they?

Not 1 single shot second half for Liverpool. That’s awful at home

Poor performance again, we need to improve.

Think we ideally need 7 from the next 9 points which will be impossible with performances like the last few.

We are not really any better. It's kinda a poor season for quality.
I really hope Arsenal can catch them up, but with their injuries in attacking areas I just can’t see them sustaining that pressure.

Your defence and goals from across the pitch will help in certain games but your attacking quality, coupled with being bereft of any options from the bench will be pretty telling in too many games I think.

Liverpool players persistently doing a ‘Dalot at Anfield’ and not even a warning.

First time since records began in 03/04 that we’ve managed that at Anfield.

I’ll take the three points and put that down to Wolves having a week to prepare vs us having g the midweek game.

We need to be better at Villa and City. I do think Arsenal will drop points though.

Wolves are decent every time I see them. They had Liverpool panicked at Anfield.

It's actually mental this fixture is 14 v 15 in the table

Didn't take long... bit lucky that ball gets to Onana in the middle of 5 defenders

I just don’t understand the United formation or style of play under Amorim.

It’s only really worked in games where you’ve played a back five and been able to counter quickly (like most of your success over the last few years!). Otherwise you’re playing a back five without a real midfield and the only players who consistently get the ball in any space are the wing-backs, who Amad aside, haven’t been able to do anything with that space. At this point I can’t see a way this results in European football next season.

And then…do you fix this in the summer by buying a load of players to suit this manager’s very specific style? How has he earned that right?

Spuds will drop points against a weakened United and Ange will get the boot.

Need to see the Casemiro pen incident again. Looked like the dude put out both hands and he dived at first but 2nd glimpse looked more legit.

Bruno has to be the most careless midfielder in Europe. It's crazy how many plays he kills...

This game may have had the worst standard of passing I've ever seen. United couldn't pass the ball to a guy 5 yards from them. Shocking.

He doesn't scan around. He is not a lazy player overall but that part of his game is horrible.

I was just thinking why they’ve put Mainoo at LB. Took me a while to figure out it was someone else.

Biggest 10 days of the season coming up now with Villa and City away then Newcastle at home. I think we need to be getting 6 or 7 points from those games.

Agree if you take 6 of the next 9 its done.

Yeah I’d say beat Villa and Newcastle and draw at City is a reasonable expectation.

City going to Madrid needing to chase the tie on the same night we’re at Villa is a bonus. I’d consider starting Endo for the Villa one and resting Gravenberch.

Watching Liverpool v Wolves on MOTD and wondering HTF did Jota not get booked for that penalty dive? One of the most unlikeable players in the league but putting that and the Liverpool love-in aside, how can the ref not book him? Shit like that does - even from United players - does my head in.

Aston Villa: Martinez, Garcia, Disasi, Mings, Digne, Asensio, Tielmans, Mcginn, Rashford, Rogers, Watkins.
Subs: Olsen, Zych, Cash, Bogarde, Maatsen, Malen, Ramsey, Jimoh-Aloba.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Jones, Szobozslai, Salah, Jota.
Subs: Kelleher, Endo, Diaz, Nunez, Chiesa, Elliott, Tsimikas, Quansah, Bradley.

Shocked that Gravenberch, Robertson & Konate are starting. I thought he would switch out all three. Not sure who is playing LW either. Jones?

That Villa front three is terrifying.

If someone had told me five years ago that Rashford and Asensio would be lining up for Aston Villa, I’d have called them crazy.

If it all comes together tonight, Liverpool could be in trouble.

I'd be fairly surprised if Liverpool won this.
I think I'd take 5 points from the next three games you know. point here and at City, then a win at home to Newcastle. I don't think Arsenal are winning all of their next three games.
