Premier League 01/02/25 - 03/02/25

I would have taken the 70M for Garnacho and ran. Short term pain but this United squad need so much injected, you're going to need a lot of money. Long term Garnacho should not be here anyway.

Very average and won't get you where you aspire to be. But i don't expect you to catch on to it until 2028 when he will only be worth a loan to La Liga.
But more importantly your only assurance of substantial cash coming in for your emergency rebuild.

That's complete nonsense. I think you're thinking of Martinelli. And he's 20 years old.

Sigh. Whatever you say mate, can't wait to see how you're going to generate funds for Amorim or the next guy that will have to deal with that squad.
Milking the age factor might work for academy players but clubs have hours of 4k footage of Holjund, Zirkzee, Onana, Dalot, Rashford being not good enough. At least the latter will be pure profit if a fool bites. The first 3 ones will either stink up the place longer or be a loss (broadly not in pure PSR terms).

Fecking hell, thought I'd get my mind of Ajax Feyenoord by watching United.

I feel even worse now.

If Liverpool win their game in hand they can open up a 30 game gap over Manchester United after 24 games.

That’s pretty nuts.

Calling Garnacho very average for his age is clearly silly. No one knows if he will fulfill his promise (clearly, you only). Sell him for £70m to buy who? Really interested if you thought the same of Martinelli a couple of seasons ago.

Up to the dizzy heights of 14th.

We're actually well placed to prioritise the Europa when the knockouts come around which makes a nice change.

Martinelli has had a couple of decent seasons production wise.

If I was a Utd fan, I wouldn't be judging much this season with the players they have at their disposal. I like the look of Dorgu and Quenda if they are able to get him for the full back positions, and in an Amorim system, just those 2 and an experienced forward like Gyokeres could really transform the look and feel of this Utd team.

I don't know why you want to insert Martinelli into this when it has no bearing whatsoever on United's financial and squad situation. But if you insist, if Martinelli looked as bad as Garnacho, that our team was falling apart and that every window we were looking behind the sofa for coins, yes, i would think seriously about selling Martinelli for 60/70M if it meant balancing the squad and assuring a better future.

That's the thing, how do they pay for Quenda+Gyokeres+GK+ i would hope for you, LB cover on top of that new guy + at least one CB with Martinez injury and other options generally not great ?
They need a lot of money or do it progressively adding 2 players per season until 2027/2028. Who will be in charge by then ? And who else will need replacing ?
Then again things can change very quickly in football but i don't see it happening for them. Future will tell.

If Martinelli looked as bad as Garnacho yet he's outscoring him this season and last?

2 mins in and the difference in intensity from Arsenal off the ball compared to us is just so stark

If you're happy with him that's great. Let's focus on this more interesting game.
I hope we don't drop off and go very attacking the whole game, we need to kill them if only for pride before thinking about a possible title.
