I'm not on board with this feeling that city will walk the league the next five seasons. The Premier League is usually competitive. Dippers rose to the challenge a couple of years back after strengthening.

I've started to get the feeling that this will be our year. Starting XI has been vastly improved. We have shown we can get the required results against the teams around us. Home record needs to be a lot better though this season.

I put as to finish 1st with the assumption City don't get Kane

48 people think we will win the league. I'd honestly like to have that kind of positivity in my life.

Think if we get a better midfielder in we will certainly challenge but overall I'm going for 4th as of now. Think 1st to 4th will be a lot closer though.

Bruno Pogba Fred
Gundogan rodri de bruyne
Kante jorginho kovacic
Thiago hendo fabinho

I have tried picking best three in mid of the teams I think will be top 4. Bruno Pogba and Fred are way ahead in creativity however lack defensive solidity. Likewise I can argue chelsea and pool have defensive solidity but not much attack and creation in mid. City have a decent attack just like united but rodri is no defensive mid , he is more of a deep lying playmaker.

So if there are gaps in United then there are gaps in other teams too. We just need to believe in the squad and hope our squad plays to its potential. We have good options to bring on and change games now which was not there last season.

Varane signing will boost the defense overall once he settles and the attack would improve too as having solidity at the back allows midfield to participate more in attacking then focusing on keeping teams out

City and Chelsea now have the better squads and will be battling for the 1st and 2nd position. 3rd and 4th is between Leicester, Liverpool and us.

The admiration Chelsea gets on these boards is just ridiculous.

Less than second with 85+ points should be seen as a failure.

Less than QF of the CL should be seen as a failure.

Not winning a domestic cup should be seen as a failure. If Arteta and Rodgers can win it then there's no excuse for us.

If we exceed the first 2 points then a domestic cup doesn't become that important as progress is clearly being made.

2nd. We still need a striker unless Cavani can play a lot more games or Martial has a good sesson which is a bit like betting on the weather.

I think we will finish third behind City and Chelsea. They are better teams than us, more coherent style and clear style with what every player got to do.

City have some significant injuries and a few players who are looking for the exit. Add a tough early schedule and we may be playing catch up again.
Chelsea have a stronger squad that before and a full season with Tuchel in charge.
Liverpool will have most of their long term injuries back but not sure VVD will ever be th same as he once was.
United have upgraded most of their weaknesses and the return of crowds shou help improve their home form.

1 Chelsea
2 City
3 United
4 Liverpool

Yep agreed. Conte and Klopp have both done it with vastly different tactics. You need a bit of luck with injuries but we 100% have the squad now assuming Varane is done.

Should focus on the league and sack off all other competitions.Champions

Love the optimism of those predicting 1st but in reality unless City somehow completely fold up it isn't happening. Our squad dept cannot compete with there's in any shape or form. Plus we've still yet to see if Ole can take us to the next level.
Think we will finish 3rd, possibly second. Hopefully we can win a Cup competition though and stop falling at the last hurdle.

Being bold and going for us to win the league - you have to be optimistic about these things!

I do feel we have a good chance, we improved last season, and have added very good players to plug major weaknesses in the team. Depth looks decent as we have options from the bench who can come on and change/win a game, which is something we've lacked over the past few years.

City will be strong, but they now have another player they need to rotate in and out of the team. Bernardo wants out, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of Sterling/Mahrez start looking for an exit if they don't get enough game time - could disrupt the squad.

Chelsea will be stronger with Rom up top. He will score goals for them which is what they need. Whether their (in my opinion) defensive setup and play will win them a league I am not so sure.

Vermin have VVD back, but it remains to be seen whether he is the same level again, plus he is another year older. Front 3 ageing a bit, though Jota is very good. Thiago not really worked too well yet. Question marks over whether they can get back to fighting for a title again with largely the same squad.

United for the title and who gives a hoot who finishes where behind us!

Am I crazy for not being awed by Chelsea/Tuchel last year? He did a great job making them tough to beat and they had a dream run in the CL (albeit against some pretty lackluster sides) with a fantastic final win against City, but that side screams a lack of creativity to me with the players they have and how they set up with 5 defenders.

Maybe I'm delusional but a grifter side like that feels like a cup team more than a team that can consistently score enough goals to avoid dropping points. I certainly don't have them clear of us at all, if anything I could see us two being super tight in points at the end.

Third. We have some fantastic players and I thoroughly expect us to improve. I think we’ll score more goals, concede fewer and, most importantly, accrue more points. City and Chelsea are just really good teams and I think they will pip us at the end. Liverpool will be there or thereabouts, too.

Our downfall is that our central midfield options wouldn’t look out of place at West Ham. It’s a massive issue and one that will hold us back unless we invest further.

A little like Chelsea last season, we have a better shot in the Champions League if the stars align.

I agree. We have obviously improved the first team but the midfield is unchanged and still unbalanced.

If City get Kane then all bets are off for first. Chelsea have filled their biggest weakness. Not convinced by Liverpool, thankfully.

Without trying to sound too much like a negative ninny & despite people creaming themselves regarding the signings of Sancho & Varane, there is a slight danger we could finish out of the top 4 this coming season.

City will be City of course & might even add Kane to their team.

Chelsea are on a high from winning the UCL & Tuchel seems to be doing the biz there.

Liverpool might get their mojo back.

Thankfully for us, it looks like Spurs & Arsenal are going in the wrong direction & Leicester may not have enough again to make the top 4.

Time will tell.

I think we are pretty certain to finish in the top 4. I think the top 4 in general - for the first time in a few years - are pretty certain. It'll be United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Their expected goals were 68 and United's were 63. Their problem was finishing which they bought a solution for.

3rd. City are pretty much guaranteed champions and I really see Chelsea doing well.

It's as if people think we scraped 4th last year... and that was with a severely hobbled attack all year. We improved our forward line significantly as well as signing one of the top defenders in Europe, no chance I think we do any worse this year.

I can't tell if people are just trying to not jinx it or if it's some kind of subtle expectation management, we should be aiming for first. If we get pipped by anyone that's fine as long as we're actually in the race.

Personally I don't think we can win it until we change the style of football, we look a bit archaic these days and I'm praying the 433 rumour is true come Saturday.

We managed 74 points last season and I don't think many people are expecting us to do worse than that.

That doesn't necessarily mean we are going to finish in the top 2 again (in fact I'd be amazed if 74 points was enough for 2nd this season).

It's just the idea of Solskjaer overhauling ALL of Tuchel, Klopp and Guardiola, is a little hard to believe.

Realistically, we have only the third best squad in England.

Our first XI might possibly be good enough to finish 1st in the PL if it gets a week's rest between games. Which means the only plausible chance we have of winning the league is if we finish bottom of our Champions League group and get knocked out of Europe by Christmas.

But that's not a gamble worth taking, imo. I think I'd prefer to aim for 3rd with a CL quarter-final, rather than putting all our eggs into one basket.

My prediction is we'll win the league. Why can't we win the league? We'll have a far superior defence; most goals we conceded were because of a lack of aerial power or being caught out at set-pieces; Varane and the new coach should help on both. Our attack will improve greatly with Sancho. In a few weeks, a fully fit Rashford will be ready to fly, pain-free and eager to prove himself; Greenwood looks like he's ready to take off, and Cavani will score plenty of goals with the number of chances Sancho creates. Van De Beek against Everton was far livelier and more confident than he was all last season. Bruno is after the first proper rest in few years.
Let's start to believe we can do it; we as United Fans have to believe we can win the league, bring it on.

Not a United fan but I voted 1st. United will win the league.

Voted 2nd, but I think this season will be very tight between the top 4 (Us, City, Chelsea and Liverpool) and we could end up anywhere between 1 and 4. I think there'll be a gap down to 5th and Leicester, Spurs and Arsenal (5th -7th)will probably separate themselves a bit from the rest of the pack as well.

It's really not.

Stopped reading at "(Solskjaer) has shown time-and-time again that when a big game comes around against an elite coach, his team fall short"

Just not true is it. He has been excellent against the top teams and his record against Pep, for example, is exceptional.

People who write this shit might want to check their facts first. They get paid enough to.

First, VDB and Dalot will be like new signings and we’ll walk the league.

…Stranger things have happened haven’t they?:D

2nd but if we add Top commanding midfielder general before deadline. We could win it.
