Potential striker targets for the summer

Funny that Arsenal, a team with less resources than us, managed to sign both Lacazette and Aubameyang in recent times. I dare say that either of those would improve us.

I would really like a pacy striker with a brain please. Someone who can do the unexpected, Ricarlison would have been a great signing for us I think. He makes the opposition panic and his finishing could still go up a notch. Lukaku is just like a truck running into you and giving the ball away. Get someone really good in on the right and come back to me about lukaku but for now sweet Jesus he’s awful. He wasn’t even that good last season. He got the numbers but he was obviously pretty limited in the football part of football.

I'm all for it but we simply don't have one and right now he's helping us a lot on the right. What's wrong with useful?
Simple - we are not talking about today. Note the words "potential striker targets "

Can anyone explain to me what is wrong with having Martial as our main striker? If you give Martial 50 games a season, he'd score I think 20+ goals and contribute to maybe 5 to 10 assists. That is not a bad return for such a young lad.
Nothing. This is what we should do in my opinion. Move him back to the position we initially bought him for. I feel like finding top-class wingers/inside-forwards would be easier than looking for a top-level striker anyway.

We have the resources and we used it on Mikhitaryan, Lukaku, Sanchez, Zlatan (poor long term thinking but can't hate against that signing tbh). Mourinho just doesn't know how to buy players

Paco Alcacer is on fire and cost Dortmund 22m. Will we ever get a good deal like this?

Paco wouldn't work at United. He's a pure goalscorer who doesn't contribute to the build up of play. Even with his fantastic goals return he doesn't start regularly for Dortmund, and when he has he has generally been disappointing. His effect comes late in the match with the opposition is tired and the game is more stretched.

He would be another Chicharito. A good backup striker but ultimately not good enough to lead the line in today's football Era.

Difficult to buy ready made players for cheap. Additionally, buying younger players when we are not atm able to improve them is not an option either. Still the potential best deal around seems to be Luka Jovic at Eintracht Frankfurth(Loan from Benfica with a rumoured option to buy for 6m euros, but if he refuses to sign for them it is said that he got a 12m euros clause in his contract with Benfica).

What ever happened to that Belotti guy at Torino? Remember his name appearing everywhere last season or two ago. Has he stopped scoring?

I'd take either of them over lukaku in a heartbeat

This is a good post, however my favourite suggestion without a doubt is the proposed formation. Surely we'll do better next season if they let us field that extra player :D

Whoops. 3-4-1-2 is what I meant. That'll teach me for rushing a post.

Out of the best strikers right now you'd say that Icardi is probably the only one that would be potentially attainable. I don't think Kane will leave Spurs unless they drastically fail to reach the same targets they've been attaining, he really does seem to be a one club man for me, whether that's best for his career or not.

I don't really watch Serie A much so don't know how good Icardi is at playmaking which is something that Kane also excels at. He can dictate if needs be which is something that Lukaku really lacks, so when you're getting he's getting no service he's pretty tragic.

Point being, you need a striker that is going to dictate play aswell as get you goals because you just don't have any service to whoever plays up top at the moment. Ideally you'd improve on both factors in the summer.

Rules out Icardi. Hopefully we don't sign him. We need someone like Rooney, Aguero (not saying as good but with similar skillset). We shouldn't sign limited players .

Martial - he has Henry level potential. Sooner we understand , better for us.

I think just about any signing would improve us up front over Lukaku, one of the worst transfers we have ever made considering the fee. I am in agreement with others on here.
Over the last couple of years I have become increasingly frustrated that when Lukaku has been dropped or injured often Rashford is played up front over Martial when to my eyes at least its become more and more apparent, Rashford is better on the left and dare I say it from the bench, althoguh talented think due to the way he broke through he has always been over rated. On the other hand Martial for me could e a world class striker, he wont ever be a world class winger though.
I really hope we see him played up front over the next 6 months before looking at new striker signings in the summer

Simple. It has to be Harry kane.

Best striker in the world and English. Fergie would have bought him long ago.

I don't think we necessarily need one. Martial, Rashford and Sanchez can all play the role in a more fluid and interchangeable set up. i'd be more interested in looking at a top level creative player as there aren't any elite strikers available - Isco may be more worthwhile than a second tier goalscorer.

Would Belotti be worth taking a punt on? Seems to have picked his for up again. Granted I don't watch much Serie A so someone may no better but he's still relatively young and may be picked up a bit cheaper now that his stocks not as high it was after that 16/17 season.

I think Son at Spurs is a Manchester United player waiting to be bought. Always thought that.

I think Richarlison has the potential to be the next PL bully of a South American striker. He’s in the Suarez and Diego Costa mould. Not the most silk, but a nightmare to play against, big and strong, and can score goals.

I think he’ll become a 25 goal striker at the right club in the next few years. That said, I also believe in Mason Greenwood more than any academy prospect I’ve ever seen. I’m not the biggest youth football expert, but from what I know, I think he’s the best centre forward prospect in the world outside first team level.

With Joao Felix signing an extension, Sancho seemingly staying put and us targeting the bargain bucket from Swansea for the wing, it leaves us free to plow some real funds into a player like Jovic or Dybala.

Dont think strikers should be top priority for the summer. It is the supply line, RW a whols midfield and full backs. Get that sorted abd Rashford, Martial and Lukaku xan still do a job.

I got ridiculed for mentioning this . Rather spend 75m on him than Dybala. He is a superstar in making

It won't matter who we buy. If united can't sort out how to play football and build it up to the box without lumping it. Nothing will change. It's one of the main reason why Zlatan and Fellaini did well, they were very tall and worked with united sh**ty game plan.

He’s like a young Diego Costa.?An absolute handful to play against, and I think he can become Brazil’s first choice 9 too.

They had enough supply today and could do shit. Against a relegated team. At home.

The top league scorers were hitting 21/22 goals this year, strong totals, but hardly incredible. Most teams are generally better off with the goals shared, multi dimensional forwards. I hope that we are focusing on that type over pure scorers alone.

Get Jovic and Pepe

Sell Martial and Lukaku
Let Mata and Sanchez leave. With their wages cleared, we should have enough for those two new players.

€70m is way too crazy for his level. Not saying I want Dybala. But I would rather stick with either Martial or Rashford than overpaying the fees on the player that might not be the right one again.

Jovic is the guy, but I can’t see him joining us in our current state, especially when you read that everybody who’s anybody around Europe is sniffing around him.

I’d steer well clear of Icardi. Troublemaker for starters, and also when you consider him as just a footballer I’m not sure he’s right for us either. He’s not that quick and he’s useless outside the box.

I guess this depends on how we might line up. For some inexplicable reason I still feel martial up top could come good. Is there a way dybala could complement him?

Rashford simply isn't ready. That's not a criticism, he just can't lead the line for us yet
