We had one (Martial) but we'll lose him this summer.
Might get slated for this. But I'd really like Dembele from Lyon. Loved him from Celtic. He has great ball control, not afraid to take on defenders, he's fast and he's still young. Reckon he could be a great striker if nurtured better.

Not yet. He’s made the right step now, but hasn’t been that impressive so far at Lyon. If he can impress there, he can progress to a top club. And maybe end this joke of Olivier Giroud being a regular starter for the world champions too!
On paper Dembele is a must buy. Problem is he’s acting a fool at Barcelona and doesn’t seem to care that he’s extremely fortunate to be playing for one of the worlds best. We may convince him to join because of huge wages but what kind of effort will we get from someone like that?
Need to find a way of supplying said forward before signing one.

Werner is too soft. We need a warrior up front but one with actual ability. I'd agree with the Icardi shouts even though we've not had the best of luck with Argentinians and he seems like harder work than most.
The other player I think could do the job is maybe this Polish fella in Italy (Piatek?). Seems mentally tough which would be nice.
I want Werner to solve our right flank connundrum. Iccardi is the only 9 I'd love us to get because he has that spirit of Zlatan

Wrong. I want to by a forward who can operate down the right and down the middle, naturally. Plus one that can operate down the middle.

We missed a trick with the two Arsenal strikers, both link up play really well and can finish for fun.
Personally, I'd like to see someone who can actually control a ball and play football. Lukaku is absolute dog shite, he offers nothing but a larger target to hit in the area and he needs it on a plate to score.
I'd rather have Jamie Vardy than Lukaku, at least you know he can control a ball and take it to a team.

As in that air of supreme self confidence and belief in his ability when on a pitch. He is mentally tough and a leader too

Zlatan and Icardi are miles apart in their ability though and also 2 completely different players. Like 2 extreme examples.
Luka Jovic. Finishing with both feet, smart, fairly good on everything.

Given the very low buyout clause and his all round skill set and physicality, he'd be a shrewd bit of business for us.
If Bayern is seriously going to restructure in the summer they might be willing to let Lewandowski go. He will have two years left on his contract then.

To fit him in within our wage structure it would mean letting Sanchez go and maybe even Lukaku. If we got rid of both it would leave room for another youngish RW in the squad.
I dont like buying players in their 30s and put them on high wages but if a decent deal could be made and we could adjust the rest of our attacking squad accordingly, he is still a hell of a player. And we would still have a good squad age-wise.

in fairness we all expected Sanchez to be the same, think our days of buying 30 year olds will be over especially giving he would demand a big fee and wage.
No, I agree. It would have to mean to let Sanchez go. One 30-year for another. But there are not many world-class #9s out there and Lewa is one.
IMO we really need to upgrade Lukaku more than getting a new RW in. I dont like it on principle either but would still do it though.
Lewa is a fit player as well. He has some more quality years in him.
Can anyone explain to me what is wrong with having Martial as our main striker? If you give Martial 50 games a season, he'd score I think 20+ goals and contribute to maybe 5 to 10 assists. That is not a bad return for such a young lad.

But seriously, with the amount of proven and young players in the different leagues we could completely rebuild our squad and have "on paper" a team able to fight for something major in many years to come. Problem is that we would need a manager able to improve/develope players and someone with an eye for a good deal and talent. We have neither at this club.
We need a Right winger - Sanchez and Martial can play as CF.
I would be OK with taking Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo. I admit to not watching every second of Celta's matches this year, but everytime I see him he impresses.

Agree - Sanchez should go. Even if we sign no one, Sanchez must leave.
We need to replace Lukaku more than sign a RW? Really? We haven't had a RW for years. Mata is past it, Rashford isn't natural there, Sanchez/Martial are abysmal there and Lingard isn't very good. Sorry I disagree. We are desperate for a RW.
Have you considered that if we supply some better service to Lukaku he will actually score? He'll never have a 9/10 touch, or immense technical ability, BUT he will score if we supply him chances. That's his game.
I'd steer clear of Lewa personally, massive ages, no sell on value, on the decline. May well struggle with the demands of the premier league. If Jose stays, and we sign Lewa - its more hoofball time.
Kane is the Utd striker of bygone seasons. But we have zero chance of getting him anytime soon.

I agree that it feels hopeless, but I do think if we had a manager who wanted these type of players, talented but in need of coaching and development, Woodward wouldn't be against shelling out smaller fees, I'm sure the Glazers wouldn't either, but at the moment we have a manager who can't coach young attacking players, so he's never going to suggest them to Woodward who'll never find them on his own.

Before buying a striker or any player for that matter the decision has to be made as to what style of football the manager wants to play. Putting a team together from random selections is a recipe for disaster.
Martial will likely be off in the summer. Sanchez too, if we can find someone stupid/rich enough. We'll definitely need a new forward.
Saying, 'i want this player or that player' doesn't mean alot when Joses system prevents a lone striker from staying high on the shoulder of the defender. Icardi or any other striker would seem just a isolated. If we have a new manager the system would likely radically change. I would like to see Fekir, or a similar traditional #10/playmaker playing behind Rashford and Martial. It would allow for the high press which we all want to see more of.
We could have found the answer to the wing back positions with Dalot, and the in form Shaw. Plus a good passing, high intensity midfield with the new #10 could produce something very easy on the eye and a team capable of creating alot of chances.

This is a good post, however my favourite suggestion without a doubt is the proposed formation. Surely we'll do better next season if they let us field that extra player
I think he'd make a fine CF but he might be more useful on the right. We move Martial upfront now we have to find someone else to fill the right flank.
Useful? For a start, lets try putting players in their best position. Lets get a fecking Right winger than playing someone out of position.
I'm all for it but we simply don't have one and right now he's helping us a lot on the right. What's wrong with useful?
