Potential striker signings (who aren't named Højlund)

The player himself said that's his asking price £30m euros

But yes if that is indeed true we should definatley be signing him, I think there are a few shrewd signings for reasonable prices.

Konate and
Max Aaron's both wouldn't break the bank either
Oh fair enough, I didn't know that. So does that mean he as a release clause or agreement? Bit odd for a player to name their own price hah

I'd favour getting Sancho to push Greenwood into the middle. I do think he lacks the experience but he's certainly got the talent to get us 20+ goals a season centrally. Cannot think of a quality striker who's realistically available within a decent valuation.

I wonder if we could do Richarlison for Martial and 20M say. Probably the wages make it a non-starter, but it just feels like Rashford out left and Richarlison up top but they're changing positions a lot would be really tough for teams to deal with, and he does seem to have that desperate to score a goal quality that would lead to him getting a ton if played upfront as our #9.

Maybe a swap like Richarlison for Dan James, a season of Van De Beek on loan and 30M is more likely, since they get a wide player on reasonable wages and a whack of cash to use on the proper right back they need along with probably another attacking player.

Everything points to Danny Ings as our only summer striker signing. We have some of the best young strikers around coming through in Greenwood, Hugill, McNeil and maybe Ings and Greenwood will divide main striker duties next season.

Ings will be cheap, last year of contract, has a very solid goalscoring record in the PL and perhaps is ready to play at a higher level.

Isn't he supposed to be going to City?

I'll lose the little hope I had left for this club if we sign Danny fecking Ings

Like everyone else on here I'm hoping Ole can somehow pull of some madness and lure Haaland to sign. Not only is he a beast for goals but he seems it have that elite mentality that seems to be lacking at times at united.

Realistically though that's not going to happen so I think DCL is the next best thing. His goals record is good, his work rate and runs are second to none, all around hold up play is very good. With good wide players around him and Bruno behind him could only see him getting lots of goals. Think he fits the Ole ethos of young, hungry players who will leave everything on the pitch. Can imagine that he would adapt quite quickly as we have a strong core of young British players.

Not to mention how highly Ancelotti speaks of him (granted he is his main striker and source of goals so he wants him full of confidence). Think he has lots of similarities with Kane and may even cost a similar fee but with the extra few years in him I think he'd be a shrude signing.

Obviously Haaland would be the dream. However, Andre Silva sounds fantastic, DCL is PL proven and Kane would genuinely have a better short term impact than Haaland, especially here when he actually has a chance to win major trophies. Martinez or Zapata from Italy too, I’d have no problem with that.

More outlandish suggestions would be big money moves for Malen, Moukoko or Toney, but all of them are unproven in the top 5 leagues, so if we want to win titles, they aren’t the solution just yet.

Haaland is a no go (unless we end up offering Pogba a new deal and make up with Raiola).

I would actually prefer Kane: at his prime, he wants to leave, and he does not really rely on his pace so can see him playing at this level for 3/4 years min, and i'd argue that he's at least as good as Haaland. Especially as we know what to expect from him in the PL. Haaland on the other hand, while excellent, in an unknown quantity in the PL and would maybe need a year or two to find his level in the PL.

Kane looks like he's destined to play for us.

Kane wants the record and would never accept not taking pens for us so it will never work.

You really think that, when deciding where he'll play next, that taking penalties is gonna decide that ? i'm not sure if serious ?

I'm 100% serious, he is very self concerned and has already embarrassed himself stealing goals off his team mates trying to claim them, he is solely concerned with breaking Shearers record and he would absolutely demand to take penalties, if you think different I'd wager you don't know his personality well.

one of shearers requirements (reported by him and sir alex) is that he wanted penalties if he moved here from bburn. Fergie told him he could, as and when King Eric missed one.

If we can't get Haaland for another year, I'd go and get Aguero on a short term deal. Fergie would 100% do this I reckon! Similar to what we did with Van Persie (albeit RVP was slightly younger)

Spends far too much time in the physio room nowadays.

How much time did Haaland need to adjust to CL? Bundesliga? He has the physique to bulldoze any defender in the prem. Why would he need time to find his level in the prem?
Kane would cost even more as well.

It looks like Isak is on the verge of becoming a really good player. He is a «complete» striker. Would probably not be very expensive either.

AWB, Dalot, Laird, Williams

I'm genuinely not sure thats an area we need to be spending any money on ... good player though Aarons might become we have players with similar if not higher potential already so I not sure its a logical use of limited funds... Silva would be an interesting option to replace Cavani if we cant bring the likes of haaland, mbappe, kane etc

Laird needs another season out on loan half a season at MK Dons is not enough
Williams is garbage and also needs a loan
Dalot is not good enough hence why even Milan don't want him permanently
A back up RB is more essential than you think but my personal pick is Trippier he'll be cheap with a year left on his deal and a short term deal which won't affect the youngsters in that position

This is the mentality of somebody who would never improve their squad. You don't settle for potential or average or you never evolve and improve , AWB is limited in an attacking sense , very limited. Dalot has done nothing at all to show he can be our right back hence why he's on loan, Laird has no minutes of premiership football, Williams is also very limited currently. None of the mentioned would improve our attacking options from right back

I believe in an attacking sense definatley Aaron's is a level if not two above them all, which is why Europes elite clubs are monitoring him.

We cannot just settle for players we've got or ones that have very limited experiance if we want to win titles

Trippier would also be a good option, good service provided from his position, would definatley add depth

Its about opinions and for me Dalot has played 24 games for an AC Milan side who were in the title hunt and Laird will be better than the lot of them
Dalot has played approx 100 top flight games... Aarons 40 ... Aarons aint gonna be anything more than a sub if we bring him in and personally i wouldnt spend limited funds on him... if you think thats a priority then sure thats your opinion but personaly I think Laird will be a top player and frankly anybody else is a stop gap for a couple of seasons (next season I expect him in the England U21 set up and a loan to a top championship or lower premier league team... and he will kin smash it)

How is an injury prone 29 year old who's had one decent season in the PL, who's gone completely missing when Southampton needed him to step up this season, going to help us win anything? He is nowhere close to the quality we need up top.
To take the next step and become real challengers we need someone who instantly will improve us, we don't need another stop gap back up.

If not Haaland

1) Kane
2) DCL
3) Ings
4) Martinez (not really sold on him but seems to be well regarded.)

No chance.

Aguero has scored one PL goal in a year?

he was a great player, he’s now a crock.

RVP was the best no 9 in the world when we bought him. No way would Fergie be buying Aguero.

furthermore, given his status at City, even if we wanted him (which we don’t), there’s no way he would risk his legacy by going directly to United.

Kane would cost even more as well.

Not saying that he would definitly need time. But we can't disregard it. One has been playing his full career in the PL. The other hasn't. So it's fair to assume that Kane would hit the ground running compared to Haaland.

Kane would be mad expensive wouldnt he?

Yes - we can't afford him. Or Haaland (this summer, anyway).

Haaland's buyout clause next summer would be a different prospect, but it's looking increasingly likely that he'll be playing for someone else by then.

In a utopic world where you can get one of Haaland and Kane, who would you choose?

In Kane you get a world class 28 year old striker and he costs you 150M
In Haaland you get a world class, potential GOAT 20 year old striker for 120M

Do you support Man City? Every paper is saying Ings to City.

I was impressed by him definitely. Based only on the two games against Sociedad, he would be a drastic improvement on our current options, including Cavani.

Well... potential signings that are not Haaland.... I would say a cheap, young version of Haaland would be Albert Braut Tjaaland (Haaland's cousin). 6'1, 17 years of age and has been tearing it up at Molde (similar to what Haaland had done) prior to his Salzburg move. If we are looking for someone a little more experienced, Patson Daka (Red Bull Salzburg) or Odsonne Edouard (Celtic). I think Haaland is a player that would fit the United system and United mentality like a glove. What makes Haaland such a great asset is his hunger for the game... very CR7-esque in a way.

Well, In adeal world, of course i would choose Haaland.

But when you factore other stuff in, like the fact that Haaland would probably want to move after a few years because of his agents, we'll have both Kane and Haaland for 3/4 years. I personally don't care about resale value as that money will not get reinvested anyway, as we saw with Lukaku.

Add to that the fact that Kane is a sure thing in the PL right away. I'd say that he's the better option.

Now, if in your ideal world, Haaland did not have Raiola as an agent, then Haaland definitly.
