He has become a very good player. Unless we want to take this current season, and say that this is the extent of his capabilities for some reason. Which they aren’t. He is obviously not a 5 goal forward. He’s done better than this many times.

And he’s 25(?). He hasn’t been majorly injured, you expect him to be better next season, just as you expect Sadio Mané to be better next season.

You don't rely on a striker who has a season as bad as the one that he's currently showing. It shows he's not reliable, he blew it.
He can fight for games as a backup and rotation option and if he finds form then great. We won't rely on him again for some time though.
Hes a wide forward not a striker. He has no hunger or desire for goals as Shearer and Dublin said on MOTD.

Agreed, he has Ronaldo 9 like physical attributes, you saw against city he can shrug off defenders. European defenders should be scared of him but the vast majority of the time he’s the easiest person to mark.
He’s more annoying because we all agree I think that he has an incredibly high ceiling that he doesn’t seem to want to reach.
He doesn’t have the skill set to be our number 9, we need someone to do the dirty side of the game and get the scrappy goals, follow ups and near post runs.

I think ideally you'd have someone who can do both. This is what makes Cavani and Haaland such ideal strikers for us. I feel so fondly towards Ruud Van Nistelrooy but we played so much better with Saha who was more of an all-rounder.
If no Haaland I would go for Pedro Neto and try to hang on to Cavani for another year.
Calvert-Lewin could perform the Cavani role and be a lot more reliable at it. Not sure Everton would sell for what we consider a good fee though.

Go for Sancho this summer, move Rashford as permanent CF, Greenwood as backup and get Grealish for the LW. Sell Martial.
I haven't seen a lot of Serie A this season so I can't possibly comment. But if his role is reduced to putting the ball in the back of the net, that's what we are after. We have the explosive creative players around that role.
No, Rashford doesn't like playing centrally, and he's not that good in such a role either. Rashford is far far from a back to goal striker, and he's not exactly a poacher either. He said himself he likes to be a striker that comes in off the wing, so playing off the left is perfect for him.

The only one that comes close is KANE but he is older and im not sure how many years he's got left at the very top whereas Haaland will be banging them in for another decade.

Has to be Haaland or Kane doesn’t it. They’re literally the only halfway available top class strikers going. After that you’re looking at unproven, second tier players.
Add the English tax it's another £50m and the Man Utd tax another £50m. No chance Kane is leaving unless he forces a transfer which I don't see it happening. Crazy that the best English striker currently will end up with no trophies to his name. Loyalty doesn't leave you a legacy if your club is wank.
Kane has contract until 2024 he won't be moving without Levy's blessings even if tries to force his way out Tottenham have form for this kind of thing remember Modric trying to leave for Chelsea ,but despite all this I think Tottenham would be much more amenable to sell Kane this summer irrespective of how they finish this season.

He will be 28 so his value will probably decrease year on year if they keep him (plus he will be getting to the end of his contract)
And at 28 (perhaps with a decent euros behind him) he might feel like he has to move on to actually win stuff

Silva really could be a good option - in the league he is performing as good as Haaland is this season. Obviously he is older and not that talented, but he evolved into a really good striker and he is due to get a chance at a top club. So he for sure would not be a bad option, but he would not be the really big signing United seems to need to step up their game.
Would be great if United could get Sancho and Silva for example, I believe this would be a huge upgrade on the current squad.
I agree Silva has become a pretty strong player, and he'd do well at most clubs. So in that sense he could be a good option to consider. I just don't think he'll be a bargain though, definitely not as low as £26m. He's transferred for more than that twice now, and finally having a real breakout season so I imagine Frankfurt would want quite a bit more than that.

But yes if that is indeed true we should definatley be signing him, I think there are a few shrewd signings for reasonable prices.
