Potential Centre-Back Signings

Romero already knows what it's to play with Licha and has the grit and winning attitude a Man Utd defender must have. I know the majority here hate the lad, but when he plays for you more than one will love him.
Mikey Van de Ven after his great first season looks too good for just being Licha's backup, but he looks really really great.
Anselmino just had literally a couple of first team games, he looked very good and mature in those, yet he got injured and like any youngster just starting it's a big question mark. At the same time if he ends being what he looks to be, he more than probably at some point if not having playing time he escapes from Man Utd a la Pique, he looks like a very determined young fella.

He is as slow as Maguire but the other parts of his game are better. If we sell Maguire and get Hummels in that wouldnt be that bad.

In that situation i suppose i wouldnt mind someone of Hummels his ability on a relative normal wage and also willing to sit on the bench in the squad.

Dont know if Hummels is the type to sit on the bench without causing issues though... or if he accepts normal wages.

Hell nah is a bit too strong for me but nah sounds about right.

Maguire is 31 and Hummels turns 36 in six months. Would rather replace Evans with him.

Maguire could be sold for some money and while we look for a new centre back Hummels could take Maguire his spot as third option CB. Although since Varane left, i suppose Maguire currently is the second option and the starter next to Martinez.
 
Hummles for me is a lot better defender than Harry, but it's true that his very old by now. Yet his last dance at a huge club can be sthg great either, he always looked very profesional

I think Hummels still expects to play 25-30 matches a season at his age, he would not want to be 4-5th choice here.

Better to give those backup minutes to a player for the future like Kambwala.

Yes. And he won’t accept ‘normal wages’ so what’s the point of discussing something hypothetical.

He’s also had his fair share of injury issues, is a diva and will definitely bring some toxicity to United. Look at that shit with Terzic. He won’t come here to be on the bench. He’ll probably go to MLS or Saudi for a fat paycheck and first team football. I’d rather keep Evans around for that sub/experienced head in the dressing room role.
 
As I've said before I would like to see us try for bastoni who I rate highly, don't see why having two left footed centre backs wouldn't work when we've seen so many succesful right footed partnerships.

Bastoni has mentioned he wants to stay at Inter for life.
 
With Todibo seemingly off the table I'd be interested in us taking a look at Geertruida at Feyenoord.

Pro's
- Reportedly only costing between £25-30m
- Extremely good on the ball both at carrying and passing (can fill the void when Martinez is out)
- He's athletic, a decent enough height and fast
- Very versatile
- Can cover RB (potentially allowing us to move AWB on this summer)
- Can also cover CM

Cons
- He's Dutch and from Eredivisie
- He's good but not spectacular in the air

The reason Hummels is not part of Germany's squad right now at the Euro is, that he doesn't sit on the bench without causing issues. Hummels right now is a good choice for a team that intends to sit back and needs a player who can start counter attacks, as he still is good at 1v1 in tight spaces and still an excellent passer. For every other approach he is a bad choice. That doesn't sound like a good option for United to me.
 
How much would Bremer cost. As much as I rate the likes of Yoro and Diomonde. Feel we need a ready made experienced player. Varanes experience will be missed .

Bremer would be around 40m. Club should entertain a Sancho swap deal for Bremer if Juve are up for it.

Club might want someone with better technical ability though.
 
With Yoro and Todibo off, Branthwaite looking dead. Who are we going to go for?

Silva? Diomande? Kilman? Bremer?
 
Ask Palace how much they want for Guehi and if they quote us a feck off price then get Inacio from Sporting.

So? Nobody used to say anything when we played with 2 right footers but act like 2 left footers is somehow impossible. Bastoni and Calafiori are both left footers yet form an excellent cb partnership for Italy
