Happy we now have a defence, annoyed about Pogba taking the penalty. This team are improving bit by bit. Bring on Palace.

Yeah, we do look solid at the back and there are definite improvements in the teams work ethic and cohesion - we look like a team this year rather than the group of individuals we saw last season.

Martial was excellent in the first half, a proper number 9's performances. The entire backline was solid, including Shaw who improved on last weeks suspect defensive showing. Rashford, James, Lingard and Martial seem to have a good understanding of how the high-press system works and it showed in their overall performance - they tired rather quickly in the second half though.

Think a lot would have been happy with a draw here, but the penalty miss has added a bit of disappointment with the result. They have to decide who takes the penalties.

The truth is we'd have lost this last year, but we're looking much better this year, and it's good news - we're now disappointed at not beating Wolves away.

2nd game of the season after an extensive break - 7-8 days to rest. The players looked gassed in the last 30 mins. With that short bench if we keep the intensity those players will be ran to the ground after a month.

You clearly didn’t watch us last year against this lot then.

There was vast improvements and we should have won was it not for poor finishing. Goals are an issue for us. We don’t score enough which is why lingard should be replaced if he doesn’t step up.

We dominated most the possession and fashioned some great chances including a penalty. It would would have been different story if Pogba had scored it.

We also never gave up passing the ball even under pressure. We did it quite well considering it was a tough away match against an opponent known for counter attacking and pressing.

Yeah i did, thanks. I said same old when we CONCEDE. We were great first half, i just said that. We had two shots on target so wasn't exactly peppering their goal. Again, the first half was great but when we concede we lose our composure. It gets to us easy. This is a mentality issue.

Average performance overall. Our midfield is going to cost us this season. Pogba Lingard and McTominay doesn’t look right to me. Our attack and defence look to be building a good understanding which is good. Wolves were garbage, probably the worse I’ve ever seen them play.

We absolutely bossed the game for 70+ minutes, what game did you watch?

They scored a wondergoal and had a good 15 minutes, but other than that, we absolutely dominated them in every department and were very unlucky not to win.

Decent performance, decent result. Should have been better but for Pogba's penalty but oh well it's still a clear improvement from last season.

Have to say that Solskjaer's subs were poor though. The only one who was given any time to do anything was Mata and he's not a player I expect to do anything anyway.

Everybody knows Lingard isn't good enough for us and I can't understand how consecutive managers insist on making him a key part of the 11. I don't know what I'm missing there.

Gomes at #10 for me going forward. Give him a run of games and I'm certain he'll repay the faith.

Would Greenwood work at #10 do we think?

Rather a point from a place some other teams will lose or draw too. Pogba's penalty was a bit soft and to be honest the miss is the least of my problema with the guy today. Played well overall, that first half inparticular was impressive.
We need to take our chances, but that goes without saying.
4 points from Chelsea and Wolves is a good start imo, even though tonight was disappointing.

feck this, we could and should have won it. I applaud Ole choosing to give James a start today. And while he didn't have a good game, I'm still happy to see him start, yes, even with knowing the result. In the long run, throwing him into hell might just be the experiences he needs to grow, but should have subbed him by 70 mins. Within 5 mins of the PK should have been the timing to make big changes. We lost all momentum, our players are young and naturally frustrated and aren't going to make good decisions. We needed fresh blood. I guarantee our bench today was just as frustrated themselves watching and are all dying to get on the pitch with their own ideas. Instead Ole sub in Mata at 80mins! Should have subbed him in at 70 mins along with Greenwood. We had no fecking control of the match, Mata practically didn't get involved until 88 mins, so wtf was the point? Rashford clearly lost his cool, and without possession, nothing was happening, he should have been subbed. Perreira didn't get to play in the end. He's not some 17 years old you throw in to get cameo mins. We're drawing the game, a game we can win, we shouldn't be doing lip service subs.

Overall, a very disappointing game. I didn't think we played terribly, in fact, we were decent, but I can't help but feel Ole screwed this one up. The players did what they could. Sometimes when you aren't having the best of games, you'll need someone else to help you out, it's not a problem that can be solved by yourself. And that's Ole's job to identify and deal with it.

Absolutely. Ole needs to grow a spine and lay down the law on the players about who does what. It was all over the place today. Shaw taking corners was another WTF moment for me.

Pogba would have good delivery, but we need his height in there.

After that, Perreira and Mata might take a good set piece (although Mata could barely loft it 2 feet from his one), but neither will be on the pitch much.

So you either have one of our "runners" take it, or a defender. Not great options at all.

I think its more the fact that he has a decent record recently and he scored one last week. He should've took it. Obviously not a guarantee that he would've scored, but very strange he didn't take it.

Honestly I think OGS should let Angel Gomez have a go at the number 10, cannot possibly be worse than Lingard.
Its also very clear that we need to sign a new left wingback. Shaw just doesnt cut it. Its even more crystal clear now that we have Wan-Bissaka.

Thought we played quite well.....but

Didnt like the line up prematch, he picked a side to hit possesion based, counter attacking defensive team.....on the break. SO James pace and Lingards movement....the main strengths if not only I can see in each, were irellevant for most of the game.

Only two games but still not convinced with Pogbas new role, fore every moment of magic he can do.....he is also clumsy and over extravagant and wasteful at times....worrying playing deeper like tonight he gave the ball away foolishly and he shouldnt be taking penalties.

Better result and much better performance than last year and we do look much better at the back, Bissaka really is defensively a monster of a player.......but our lack of transfer activity in key areas is going to cost us this season. I still think its a travesty we didnt sign a defensive midfielder and for us to be successful I still think we are reliant on Greenwood and Gomes making there mark this season as regular starters, which is a lot to ask but we really need a number 10 and right sided player and have to give him time of course, but I am not sure I see anything but blistering pace and work ethic in James personally, still think the first eleven is three players short unless Greenwood/Gomes can fill two of those gaps.

On the positive side, encourage with the start Lindelof has made with Maguire, not his biggest fan at all, but he has done ok the first two games

Mctominay was hiding in the second half. It really was a one man midfield with only Pogba showing himself for the ball.
Wan bissaka needs to be better in possession.

You can say he needs to be more effective attacking, but if he misplaced one ball I must have not been looking.
Pogba could learnt a lot from his distribution, he set us on the urgent defensive about ten times with wayward balls.

Wolves are difficult to break down. Everyone knows that. They stay compact and just try and hit you on the break. Tonight we controlled the game and they had zilch bar a ragged 10 minutes post half time.

We were the better team and there's clear improvement.

Frustrating game. We were so dominant in the first half, but then took our foot off the gas in the second half. McTominay came out a different player in the second half. The wingbacks didn't attack enough. They brought the ball forward, but we never went past their fullbacks. James had a poor game, and apart from one occasion where he skipped past someone, he mostly ran into trouble and either lost the ball or got fouled. I thought Rashford lost interest in the second half. Maybe he is struggling with his match fitness. Let's be honest, Pogba normally scores penalties, so we should really be celebrating 3 points. We were the better side, but mostly because of Maguire, Lindelof, AWB and Pogba. This is an improvement on the side that played Wolves last season, but we need better link up play in the middle of the park. Too many sideways passes.

Good performance but at the end of the day it's 2 points lost not 1 point gained because we dominated for 85 mins. Can't afford that. Only dissapointments are Lingard and James, Ole needs to have balls and play Gomes and Greenwood. They will be at least as good and have a higher upside. James is better as an impact sub right now, both the young lads are better footballers. By the way Neves is a dud signing for CDM, Tonali will be 1/4 of the price and will be way better. Neves can't control a game and is weak defensively

First half: Solid. Composed. For the majority, in control. They’re a difficult team to breakdown but we could have had 2.

Wolves looked to take us on the break, they managed a couple of times but our defence were up to it.

My main issue was Lingard. Despite being given the number 10 position, he insisted on drifting right leaving nothing in the middle.

Second half: Completely different story. We looked panicky. Wolves played some nice stuff, string a few one touch passes together and you slice through our midfield.

Lindelof and Shaw made multiple dodgy passes under no pressure that immediately lost possession. The composure was gone.

Wolves pressed us higher up the field and we crumbled. Maguire was very good. Without him it could have been worse.

The goal was an excellent strike and a worldie. Had we not panicked, we would never have given them that run of play resulting in the corner.

The penalty incident is the main thing that irks me. Why. Why on Earth take Rashford off penalties? There’s no reason. He scored last week. He scored at PSG. If this is Paul asserting his dominance to take it to show to Madrid that he’s the man, then we’ll done Paul, you’ve made a right royal arse of it. Selfish twat.

The substitutes are bizarre. Why on Earth are they so late? Give Greenwood 5 minutes to make an impact? Ridiculous.

James should have been off much earlier. We were playing with fire with his yellow card, we were lucky but he didn’t do anything. He had the opportunity to feed someone in, he didn’t take it. Poor decision.

Mata was brought on for Lingard who’d been ineffectual for the past 40 minutes. Mata then proceeded to hit a corner into the first man. How much are these guys paid? Unbelievable.

Take homes from this match:

-Wolves are a good side. A draw away at them is not the worst thing ever.
-Corners remain an everlasting issue for god only knows why.
-Pogba is selfish.
-Lingard should not start the next game.
-Our decision making was terrible 2nd half
-Subs need to be made at least 15 minutes earlier

The only thing your missing is our terrible corners both defending and taking them bar that best post of the thread.

I think we will look back at this as not being a bad result. It feels like a loss with the missed penalty but this is a place where we struggle so a point is better than nothing.
