West Ham United 0:2 Manchester United

We did loom like a LVG team thou, maybe it was the tired legs, but lot of backward passes.
I think once they went to 10 men and after the festive fixtures we just wanted to play the ball around, switch sides and just generally keep them moving and wear them down.

When we are ahead, we look no different to last year which is not a bad thing necessarily. When we need a goal though, we look so much better this year, we are more incisive, energetic and more importantly, have more quality on the ball. It would be fun to keep play like that more often even if we are ahead but today is hardly the day to criticize that with the festive fixture congestion.

West Ham are a horrible club with a horrible owner and a few horrible fans but I can't really hate them because I love Iron Maiden.

Anyway, brilliant win. Finally, a terrible refereeing performance swings our way.

Thought the performance from us was pretty abysmal to be honest but we played two tough matches in the space of 48 hours....the performance doesn't matter as long as we got the points

Onwards and upwards and lovely to beat West Ham away after that fecking disco party they had last year when they beaten us.....can't stand the cnuts

Should have beaten them the last time so happy with a mediocre performance and come away with 3 points.the lads looked tired they have done great in the last few weeks so not a big deal they didn't play champagne football today. Starting to feel like a real United team.

Coach arrived on time.
Clean sheet.
Comfortable win despite being well below par.
Refs giving us plenty of benefit.
No new injuries or suspensions.
Opportunity to rest and refresh players before Pool game.

6 in a row.
Loving it.

Bilic said his player shouldn't have been sent off after he lunged at Jones yet he went down like a sack of spuds and got Blanc sent off when he tickled him on the chin......nice bit of consistency there from the Croat!

Game changed after Mata and Rashford came on. Still can't beleive he started Lingard instead of Martial... jesus what does Martial need to do to start?

Thought we wasted the first half. Rashford was the difference

The performance wasn't brilliant but Mata and Rashford made the difference. Best I've seen Rashford play for a while, and Mata has a great finish and injects some urgency into the side.
When we're looking poor this is the reason, we pass it around in a lacklustre fashion with no intent, so it's very good that we have someone who can turn that around when needed.

There's still lots of room for improvement, we're not exactly polished, but then I don't expect to be at this stage in Jose's reign.

When we all first saw the tackle, we were all shocked it was a red. It was only during the half-time replay, that it can be seen it was a red. He had both feet off the ground, therefore he no control of himself. Dangerous play. To blame Jones who got hurt, was highly inresponsible.
To make up for That correct decision, Dean overlooked a number of other West Ham offences.

Yes. It was an offside goal.
But the result was still correct. West Ham lost.

People seem to forget we used to grind out results like this with Fergie as well, especially during a very busy period. The schedule is pretty killing, every manager and even the players say that. Against a team we haven't done well against recently I thought it was a brilliant win. Having said that, there really does have to be some inquest in the officiating this season. The red was bad, but Zlatan's offside goal was borderline ridiculous...the linesman was right in line with them. Of course I'll take the goal, but if that had been against us I would have been livid.

I think the view of Zlatan was obstructed to be fair to the lino on the goal.

After WH fans behavior last year, couldn't be happier - not to mention losing the game the way we did and missing out on CL. The red card helped but, it didn't guarantee anything - heck just earlier City went up 2 with 10 men - and WH could have at least got 1 or 2 but, they didn't. First half I was having flashbacks to last season, the slow sideways passing, everyone dallying on the ball an extra few seconds. The subs were genius and Mou I think is really getting a handle on how best to use the squad. In a lot of those draws earlier, his subs took a while, they just didn't inject the kind of drive we've seen to turn a game around like he has been recently.

With a run like this, makes all those draws earlier even more maddening - clawing the difference with those above is going so slow. At least dippers lost points today from winning position.

Good result, very good even. Important to keep that run and momentum going. Performance was disappointing though. Very much so. Probably the worst performance since the City and Chelsea league games. Especially that fist half.

Rashford was so important to changing the game. He gave us so much more. All the subs were good to be honest, really had the sense the Jose affected the game. How many times have we seen Mata score from that position? Good stuff.

Of course, I have to mention the officials, we had some luck today obviously. I would feel very aggrieved the other way around.

I believe the papers would talk about the sending off and offside goal only and not about how Kouyate should have been sent off and Reid should have got a minimum yellow for deliberate handball.

Bilic doesn't have the ba**s to say Mike Dean was feckin blind. So he is accusing Jones of making a meal of it. Jones got kicked (intentionally or not). Does he expect Jones to run around as if nothing happened.

I don get why people are complaining about the performance. Hard away game, just 48 hours after a very intense and nerve-wrecking match is enough to justify below par performance.

Yeah, aside from Spurs & Chelsea (who get a shit load of rest), I thought we had easily the toughest game here. Liverpool's was tricky too although I'd have taken Sunderland every day over West Ham, and Liverpool dropped points, we didn't. Therefore, awesome job done.

Use Reading to give out some rest and we've come through the Christmas period unbelievably well.

+ Rashford game changer again
+ Mata & Carrick useful as usual
+ Jones my favorite player in this moment
+ De Gea immense against Antonio, it has been like scoring a goal

- Miky bad
- Lingard and Darmian not good enough as usual

The squad looked tired but it's normal in this period, a game every 2 days like in the Nba

Didn't understand why do Rooney didn't started instead of Lingard.

Rooney still injured.

Well said Sunny (happy new year buddy by the way) we looked jaded but we got the three points what was the main thing. Well done lads it keeps the momentum going and puts the pressure on the teams around us. I'm really happy how it's going, yes we should have won more games but we are only going to get better with Jose imo.

Hand to the face is a red, was in 1998 and still is.

Actually not true for the 16-17 season. The new FIFA rules state as follows;
"In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm is guilty of violent conduct unless the force was negligible"

Case in point was the fracas after Aguero got sent off against Chulski for he tackle on Costa. Fabergas clearly put his hands on Fernandino's face & subsequently got shoved over the hoarding. The FA deemed the hand to the face to be "negligible" despite it being the action that caused Fernandino to "Lose it" and get the red card.

Find all the laws here;

i agree with you. We look very tired, especially players who run a lot. Herrera looked poor yesterday. The progress we have made under Jose is huge and the best is yet to come imo.

A the best mate:)

Makes a change for Mike Dean to give something FOR United. Every one kicking off about it though- Radio, Journo, Twitter etc. Funny though, didn't see them kicking off when Mason had a mare last week.

If we'd been 12th and fighting for scraps, I doubt if the media would be all over it. The fact is Jose has woken a sleeping giant and they are now very worried. We're beginning to get back and they don't like it.

They can go and feck themselves

This is from a manager who got Blanc sent off with the most theatrical of dives. Hypocrite!

I think we did not capitalise on Feghouli's sending off at all, at least in the first half. The team looked laggy and content to sit back and play the passing game. Jose's subs did the magic - they were sent on at the right time and the choices were excellent.

I think some of the guys were tired - Herrera, Zlatan & Mkhitaryan especially. There was no fluidity in play as a result and on occasions Carrick was clueless with the ball at his feet. Paul Pogba, though - did give them a torrid time and was so hard to snatch the ball off. Reminds me of a prime Yaya Toure.

To heck with the red card, Kouyate's tackle was horrible and deserved red. Mike Dean deliberately committed a mistake to compensate for an earlier one. It's about time we had a slice of luck with refs. Plus fans from every other side kept bringing it up and moaning all the while, which frankly made me very happy !

Draws now being turned into wins.
You could see Jose's joy/relief when the 2nd went in.

Onward and upward.

This! Was a 'job well done boys, we got this' moment. Fantastic to watch, and resulted in our longest winning streak since Sir Alex :)

Delighted with the win and delighted we took 9 points from a fairly tough period. Ok maybe 2 homes games against lower table opposition and 1 dodgy away game may not have looked the toughest on paper but its a lot of games very close together and as proved by Liverpool dropping points to Sunderland that amount of games can take its toll.

Regarding the West Ham game, rubbish officiating again but this time in our favour which made a nice change. Brilliant substitution and tactical reshuffle by Mourinho, I thought that when Mata came on for Damian and Carrick was going centre half that someone was injured and it was all going wrong. Rashford was brilliant when he came on, I almost felt sorry for the West Ham full back :lol:

Don't really care about West Hams moaning about unfair decisions etc. because they a) are West Ham and I despise them and b) its nice that these worked in our favour for once.

Time to give the players a well deserved break.

*Edit* Lingard still cant score tap ins.

Anyone disappointed in the manner of the victory must have very little grasp of what is required to perform to a top level in the premiership. To expect a sparkling performance with a turnaround from the last game of just 48 hours is deluded. It is all about grinding out results at this time of year due to the hectic schedule. I like that the team seem to have developed a bit more steel and can now grind out wins and close out games if required. These types of performances and mentality will stand them in good stead when the business end of the season comes round.

After Jose's comments about the fixtures, he is not going to be happy about this. None of the managers will be. Absolute madness.

Festive pile-up
Mourinho’s thoughts this time next year should be interesting. Crazy schedule.

Next year fixtures are already out?

Kinda glad that Ibra was gifted a goal even though he was offsides, to make up for the great goal that was stolen from him in the previous match.

Love seeing Rashford with confidence taking on defenders.

6 wins in a row, unbeaten in what, 11? We're doing everything in our power to get back into this top 4 race. Things are looking up these days!

12 or 13 I think

West Ham appeal red card
Will be interesting to see if this is overturned. Was very harsh, but Jamie Vardy’s red just before Christmas was upheld - hence the thousands of masks at the King Power a few days later.
