Game was more entertaining than most this season at least.

Shite day for results but that was entertaining from both sides.

Soft as feck, at the back and in front of goal, but look at that team. It's average.

Our defending for virtually every set piece was abysmal.

At least it was entertaining.

We are well and truly in trouble with those injuries. Dark times.

Guys, we fecking suck, its time to accept it.

Today was a game that proved that, not that we don't have quality, but we are so mentally fragile its pathetic. Scoring a goal and conceded a goal within 2 minutes, not once but twice. The team is a young one, I get it I'm not necessarily complaining about that, but we can't expect much from this team to be honest.

There was no way we could have competed in the CL and the league, our squad is too thin for that. Is there a way we can avoid the Europa League too? Or just play the younger players, otherwise it will take too much from our league campaign.

We have a bit of hybrid Liverpool and Arsenal about us, being a comedy and a fragile set of minds at the same time.

Tough to go out - but i think we all know in our heart of hearts this team wasn't good enough to line up against the best teams in Europe in the last 16.

The issue is a lack of quality and strength in depth.

How do people think that was a good performance? Wolfsburg missed a number of excellent chances and while United looked a bit more threatening than they have in the last couple of months it was hardly great.

i enjoyed the match.
Tbh, we dn't deserve to be in the next round.

I feel back in Moyes territory now. Getting progressively worse.

Being a supporter is about both the ups and downs, but jesus christ that was stressful.

When your luck isn't in, there’s nothing you can do. We had enough chances to win a very exciting match that was essentially a footballing version of a cowboy shoot out.

Worried by the injuries. Smalling looked to be struggling physically and to have had him carry on playing, only to lose regardless, is a horrible scenario. Darmian’s injury too is very bad news for us.

Positives – all of the young players.

Negatives – Fellaini was poor I thought. Our marking at corners. And we’re clearly susceptible to pacey counters, it’s a definitive strategy to damage us time and time again. Needs work.

Lessons learned - Louis' conservative football is the way forward for the time being still. Better the devil we know, than risking going gung ho with this lot just yet and playing with the devil we don't. Hopefully the match going fans realise this soon enough.

Disgraceful, £200m spent and all we could bring on was Nick Powell. Wolfsburg was attacking all game so there were openings, which is why we had chances for once. Knocked out from an easy group. Smalling injured, City through. Sorry for my negativity but the last few weeks have been really disappointing.

Should have played like this in the Psv game, I will never understand that second half.

Surreal and slightly comical. After 18 months and lots of cash, that shambles does not give me any confidence in Van Gaal.

Decent result given the quality of players we have on hand.

Damage was done in previous games really, this was always going to be the toughest game of the group and we should have been through comfortably before it.

The injury situation is now ridiculous.

We created enough chances to win any game, conceded way too easily though.

No we didn't. Our defending was shambolic. I'm sick of hearing that refrain.

It happened against West Ham too to be fair... People just seen to completely ignore what happens at one end of the pitch.

Honestly, it was a good performance.

Letting it get to this stage was unacceptable though.

Bonkers subs, too.
It was ok, certainly not the lobotomies we've been subjected to lately. Still, it was pub-level defending, and a lucky-own goal was the only thing that made it class. LVG's management in general has been dire.

Good performance by youngsters and did well in forward areas but bad defending costing the match It is not coming together. Good defensive performance gets coupled with stunted forward play and good forward play with error prone defense. Sigh. We will win Europa though so it is not all bad.

We've never won the UEFA Cup/Europa and we won't win the Premier League, might as well give it a go.

Why should we have to compromise between attacking football and LVG's zombie football? We are Manchester United FFS!

The team is shit
the line up is shit
the subs were shit
the manager is shit

Basically we are shit. Sack LVG get Pep or go with Ryan.

I'm teetotal, but if I wasn't I'd probably get drunk tonight.
Damnit.

Got exactly what we deserve. This group was there to be won but we just weren't good enough. Our poor performances and lack of potency have come back to haunt us.

A lot of our players showed heart tonight but it wasn't meant to be. Everything conspired against us.

It was a more entertaining performance. Not a very good one.

In reality we just showed how crap we really are.

Just a shite defence. No clue.

Absolutely nothing to offer from the bench. Even if we did LVG would mess it up.

Average talent in too many areas.

The goal that gave us hope was from a terrible header from Felliani which, surprisingly enough, wouldn't have found the net via the floor on it's own.

The group was lost at home against PSV. We managed two goals, but there are still way too many slow, ponderous passages of play where what should have been one passes takes three passes. We didn't have a clue defensively, but that's to be expected.
