Let’s get the one negative out of the way first: Kavanagh was abysmal, just like his performance as VAR when we played Chelsea away.
And now on to the positives! We had an indifferent start where we and Spurs cancelled each other out for the first 10 minutes, before we grew into the game and were much the better team. We poured forward at sublime intensity against a team who brought on a DM (Sissoko) for an AM (Lo Celso) while drawing at home. Robbed by the ref and Spurs (Son and Rodon in particular) were absolute cheats, but even that served as a positive as Ole probably used that to light a fire in us to win the game.
Analysing each player man for man:
Henderson - Terrific and should definitely be our number 1 at least next season now. Clearly a good shot stopper who will only get better, but his proactiveness and distribution is genuinely admirable. De Gea is a club legend and in his prime was possibly an equal to Schmeichel in terms of shot stopping, but Dean’s proactiveness and distribution is already better than DDG’s ever was.
Defence - All solid, and Luke Shaw is just so, so good. I’m so happy he showed it against Mourinho’s team as well instead of wilting (he doesn’t wilt). Imagine bullying a 20 year old just off an awful leg break because he was at fault for one goal against Watford.
Midfield - McFred was iffy in the first half, but both were excellent both on and off the ball in the second. Fred following in to score was fantastic too. Bruno once again was extremely direct and Pogba, wow, keeping him is as important as getting Sancho. Sublime player. Have him in the double pivot against lesser teams, but give him a free role against any top side, and he will be the best player. Caf mods, I’m requesting 11/10 ratings on the player ratings
Attack - Rashford was not there at all today unfortunately and we looked better with Mason, whose cameo was genuinely one of the best United sub appearances I can remember for a long, long while. Cavani was poor until his disallowed goal, and from there, he turned into Napoli and pre-2020 PSG Cavani. A world class performance by a genuine legend who was clearly fuming that his first goal was disallowed. Class.
10/10 ratings for Henderson, Shaw, Pogba, Greenwood and Cavani.
Thought Henderson was great again today. People still questioning why he's getting a run of games starting in the PL surely have to be changing their opinions after that performance.
He's decisive and dominates his defence, which reassures them.
That was a great second half of football, my hats off to the lads. They showed strength, character, and presaverance, it was me I would have gone out the second half and tried to break Son's leg. That was as rewarding of a win as I have seen in some time. So angry at half time and then so happy at full time.
Where's the fun in that? What a brilliant second half performance. Pogba, Cavani, Shaw, Mason all excellent, Henderson commanding, the defence much stronger as a unit and the midfield dusted themselves off after a poor half and worked their way back into the game.
I must say I’m getting a bit sick of Ole in his post-match laughing off the questions about our poor first halves and coming from behind, if we fecking played like that from the off we’d blow most teams out of the water. The contrast between halves this season has been ludicrous and I’d love to see us start matches more positively.
That said, I’m absolutely delighted with another comeback win, where we left the bitterness of the perceived wrongs from the first half in the past and got on with dismantling that shower of fecking pricks.
That is all.
Love Ole’s post match interview for once!
Glorious
It was hilariousOle classic interview!! Need a gif of when he said ‘this is how I run’ with his arms flapping around
‘If my son goes down like that and has ten of his mates helping him up then he’s not getting any food!’
That is all.
His best interview without doubt. It was hilarious
Where's the fun in that?
As a kid my favourite superhero was the incredible Hulk. Now I support United. Coincidence? Probably not.
It’s about time he started calling out the refs and having digs at the opposition. The only other time I’ve seen him like this was when he was complaining about the fixture congestion. He needs to moan more just like Klopp and Pep do, and maybe more things will start going his way. His interviews are usually too ‘vanilla’.why what was wrong with his other ones?
He said if his son did what Son did, i mean play acting, then he will not get food that night. What did he say. I have turned over to watch the Arsenal game?
Glorious
He is good at it ! We won 28 points from loosing position this season ! That’s great !Ole must have given one inspirational half time team talk.
