I like Herrera but man does he need some shooting practice!

Seems a bit harsh, over the course of his time with us he's been a more accurate shot from outside the box than anyone else really. First time in ages that we've had a player who can do those Lampard-esque low drives into the bottom corner. He had about three well on target today that were blocked, and then a couple where he never really had the space to shoot so shanked them.

I don't recall either shot today being due to a lack of time. He's hit a few good'uns in his time with us (Yeovil for example) but i'm not just referring to today. Maybe its not just shooting practice but decision making training. Passing wise his decision making is great, but hes gone for some ridiculous attempts on goals that were never going to come off, when a pass sideways would be better.

Overall his shooting from outside the box isn't great. Pogba (certainly) and Mata are better.

Good. Got an applause from some fans and a hug from Fred the Red.

Hoping Fred slid a note in his pocket saying 'now keep you mouth shut you gollum looking c***'.
Sent shivers down my spine seeting footage of him back at Old Trafford, bought back horrible memories.
He's taking Sunderland down, whether he's sacked or going down with them, so no more Old trafford visits any time soon or any more Moyes Utd threads

Those jammy idiots will find a way to stay up. They always do.

I would have loved him to have succeeded in Europe so that we would see very little of him.

I'll grant you he does sometimes go for shots when it doesn't make sense, but he still puts shots from outside/the edge of the box on target more often than most. Pogba is of course a long-range specialist, but it's really a different sort of shot - he's curling/piledriving spectaculars towards the top corner, Herrera is the man who provides the cut back option and tries to skim it into the bottom corner. I'm not really talking about lovely goals like the one against Yeovil, I'm talking about the ones he regularly goes for, like against QPR.

Mata? Odd name to pick. He rarely shoots/scores from range.

Tl;dr: Here's a video showing all Herrera's goals for us before this season. 7/13 - just over half - are edge-of-the-box efforts. 5 of those are pinged along the ground into the bottom corner, making that comfortably his most common type of goal.

First half sketchy, second half brilliant.

Mkhi was unbelievably good, Sunderland couldn't handle him at all. Zlatan and Pogba did their jobs well.
The back four were decent as well but gave a bit too much space and chances away to their attackers.

The team you missed off your post may be QPR. Scored a lovely goal drilled into the bottom corner at the start of 14/15 season. Was in the east stand that day in a line with him and the corner.

I think we're talking about slightly different things really. I'm mostly talking about ridiculous attempts that will never come off, especially bouncing or dropping balls from deflections or corners, rather than shots where hes being tee'd up by other players.

Pogba? The biggest flaw in Pogba's game since his return are the ridiculous shots he attempts when there are much better options available. He has a fantastic shot but his decision making on when to shoot is terrible.

Whoops, didn't notice I forgot to actually give an example. Yes, there are a few as I say but QPR is as textbook as any.

I think he probably sees those as similar situations. It comes to him at the edge of the box where he likes to lurk, either by intention or accident, and it's often a great time to try a shot, especially if you have that finish in your locker. But I'll grant you he's started to do it a bit too often when the chance is awkward. Hard to blame him though, because he's perfectly capable of hitting an awkward ball very cleanly, and has scored for us that way in the past.

I agree, it's quite infuriating to watch him tee up a 40 yarder meanwhile someone is opening up on the wing, only to see him melt it into low-earth orbit.

However when it works, it's the type of goal that you watch and make the 'whooooo' noise whilst nodding nonchalantly.

An enjoyable game, with some nice goals. I liked Pogba, Zlatan and Mkhitaryan but hope we can learn to dominate and shut out games better than we did today.

Moyes saying it has always been difficult getting a result at Old Trafford.

United will ban you from matches if you sell your tix?

This is pretty harsh.

But part of me thinks that if this guy just emailed someone at Man Utd being open and honest about the situation, and had it dealt with via staff at ticketing etc, then it wouldn't have come to this? Obviously it's not his fault his wife fell ill, surely to god there's humans that would understand this in the ticket office once the situation had been explained. From United's perspective they'd have just seen the tickets online unaware of the circumstances and went for the ban.

It's been rightly revoked after an appeal, but I dunno, I've always found being honest and up front about things helps a great deal. (Obv I'm not saying he was dishonest, but just might have handled it a little better).

Mkhi's goal was unbelievable, offside as it was.

Ibra was good and bad; had lots of touches, involved early and often, but should have had at least 2 goals. Also credit for his defensive contritbutions on set pieces.

Pogba I thought was MoTM. Could have had 3 goals. He does it all. So much more to come, can't wait to see it.

Blind a bit of a disappointment at LB; I'm a big fan of his, probably more due to lack of game sharpness than anything.

Very good performance, especially after we got Mhki and Martial on and started giving Sunderland something to think about down the flanks.

The third goal was exquisite! Don't care about the offside, we should have had two maybe three penalties anyway. I'm not sure how an elbow in the side and getting kicked off the ball aren't fouls. I'll leave it to Martin Atkinson to explain that...

I do not understand how subbing Herrera makes us more defensively secure. That space Borini scores from is the exact area Ander is constantly closing people down, getting in their faces. Fellaini is just an obstacle.

Disappointing to concede because our goal difference isn't great right now. Still, three points is three points. Lets keep it going.

You are right though next year I suspect the Afro will not be the key defensive sub late games.

Think I'm gonna give Valencia my MOTM although Pogba was colossal once again, despite how well the entire team is playing the gulf in quality between our best players is a bit noticeable.

Tony V is a monster this season.

Probably confirmation bias, but it seems we leak more goals with Fluffy coming on as a close out sub then without.

Other United fans elsewhere on the net and some media sources are reporting that most of Moyes' reception was silence and indifference.

It seems the clapping that existed mostly came from the prawn sandwich type fans in the expensive seats. Along with a minority of misguided souls in cheaper seats that didn't seem to mind the constant excuse-making and whingeing of the former United 'manager'.

Most of Old Trafford ignored the rot that had to be scrubbed before it set in - the best decision.

Conversion rate was horrible again, especially Zlatan's. Should have had at least a hattrick.
Hopefully it gets better when it matters

Pretty sure fenerbache loss was after the Chelsea loss.

Jose looking more settled and happier now, obviously results help but seems to have that twinkle back in his eye and a lot more demonstrative when we score than the more sullen looking early season Jose.

We've probably played better in other games at home this season and only managed draws but glad to get the three points.

Still looks a bit podgy though. Wonder if we can get DDP Yoga as our official yoga sponsor and get him on that

Maybe for a fair comparison look at league position of teams played during that period?

You could also look at the teams we are now fighting with for Top 4. Chelsea and Liverpool who are powerhouses of football were nowhere to be seen. It is a lot tougher this season.

We definitely look better but it's still not top 4 quality yet. Let's see how we do against some decent sides.

Thats a fair point, however Arsenal, City and Liverpool have been inconsistent also.
You could also argue that the lower teams are weaker this year, with less upsets.
