Manchester United 3:1 Sunderland

Post-match discussion

Starting to come together nicely at the moment. Carrick/Herrera /Pogba clicking nicely in midfield. Shame Carrick probably won't play against both Smoggies and West Ham. This feels like Man United again!

Carrick will play against West Ham, there's a whole week between today and that game. He'll skip Boro, we should be able to handle them without him.

Most likely. On Saturday, we should be fine with Herrera and Pogba but West Ham will be tricky

I there a video / gif of Mata falling down? From television camera angle it looked like there was no contact whatsoever and so It seemed like a clear dive. This is not very characteristic of him...

I like Herrera but man does he need some shooting practice!

Good performance. Good win. Shame everyone else is winning as well.

If Darmian hadn't been absolute guff at left back, I wouldn't mind seeing Blind play in the Carrick role against Boro.

We'll need to rest some players so we can use the best team against West Ham. We might see Pogba dropping slightly back and Mata at #10. Not ideal but it should work against Boro. Bailly on the right before he goes off to ACON so Valencia gets some rest. Darmian on the left (hopefully Shaw gets back soon). Mikhy from the start but sub him on the 2nd half if game is under control (it really should be). Smalling for Rojo so he gets some rest too? Ideally sub Herrera again in the 2nd and possibly Ibra too near the end (again, if game is under control).

Getting better each day. Main concern is that we always look like conceding a goal after going 1-0 up. Could be something do with our concentration levels mid game.

Hopefully we can sustain this good run of form and break the top 4.

Thanks for the videos @Pscholes18.

I like the way Mourinho answers the Zlatan question, about whether he's surprised at him doing so well here. He has insane trust in Ibra, as much as the big man trusts in himself. He is convinced Zlatan will do well because Zlatan believes he can. He also pointed out Zlatan seemed faster and stronger than their centre-backs.

Couldn't get to see the match but so bloody happy! 3 points, Moyes goes home unhappy, lovely goals - thank you @GifLord - what more can you ask for?

Now let's go and win the next one.

On another note - would have been great had Arsenal dropped some points, but you can't have everything:)

BTW, did anybody notice Jose's celebration after the goal today?
It was the one which Moyes did after the Fulham game, I think.
He probably told his players that if they win, he'll mock Moyes.

Thought the same thing

Decent performance, we seemed to drop off for slight periods and Sunderland to their credit made a decent job of pressing us during those periods.

good win, 4 on the bounce, Boro next.

Seconded. Although I'd rather have Jones rested against Boro.

Boro: De Gea - Bailly, Smalling, Rojo, Darmian - Pogba, Herrera***, Mata - Mkhitaryan**, Zlatan*, Martial
*Rashford **Lingard *** Fosu-Mensah

West Ham: De Gea - Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind - Carrick, Herrera, Pogba - Mkhitaryan, Zlatan, Rashford

We'll probably see Lingard at West Ham though, and if Rojo needs a rest, Bailly can easily step in.

Good performance, Pogba just edging MOM.
Defence did well, unlucky to concede.
First half a bit too slow and narrow.
Transformed when Lingard went off and Mkhi came on, great goal (even if slightly offside)
Martial looked good in his cameo role
Hope Mkhi and Martial can keep in the team as often as possible, frighten teams to death with pace around Ibra

It was a decent performance. First half we were very average/under par. I think we looked a little shaky, defensively in the first half. We've played better but we thoroughly deserved the 3 pts. Mkhi was excellent in his cameo, should have got an assist, scored a beauty and could have got a player sent off with a brilliant run.

Pogba was great again today and my MOTM.

4 straight wins and we're still 6th, depressing stuff
At least we're breaking away from midtable shite like Watford, West Brom and Everton. It was horrible lounging around with that lot while being like 9 points away from 4th. Now we're closer to 2nd than we are to 7th. Just gotta keep it up and we'll get there.

I'll just repeat what I said in the match day thread. Nothing more to say on this issue to be honest.

I'm sorry but I just can't feel happy about this after letting that last goal go in for them. To begin with we should have won this by 5 goals - EASILY. To let them get the last word and a small smile on Moyes lips makes me feel ILL. Call me childish or whatever you want - I'm not pleased.
You're childish.

Another apology thread coming up?

We are obviously closer points wise though than before the Spurs match when things were looking pretty bleak, it's just a matter of not letting the gap grow again, and waiting for the inevitable slip up above us, my money is on Liverpool falling back into our laps.

Great second half. Can't wait to see those twats relegated as well.
