How come there was no VAR on the three Utd possible penalty incidents

Shite refereeing but well fought by the lads, luckily only Ward Prowse can score in that team but he also got close with one free kick

And of course Bazunu just had to be great today, didn't have that much but saved well especially from Bruno and Varane

It’s going to be real scrap for top 4 now, that could be an important point.

We’re a top 4 team that will get about 70 points, ups and downs are what happens. City and Arsenal are on a different level and we weren’t be able to keep pace with them or even finish particularly close.

We used to benefit from VAR quite a bit under Ole, but the last time was when Bruno scored a penalty to win the game after the game ended. It's been all downhill after that.

You do realise if the game goes on while a check is taking place, and VAR decides to overturn the ref’s decision, then everything after that point is deemed to have not happened, including the final whistle?

There was never anything controversial about that decision, despite all the frothing at the mouth from the ABU media.

Frustrating with the inconsistent refereeing, and draw isn't what I would've taken before the match but it is what it is. Let's face it, the league title is basically out of our reach already as we're clearly running out of steam having played back to back league and cup games every 3-4 days.

Get over the line for top 4 in the league, and focus on winning the remaining cups. Our next transfer window will be crucial as ETH has had a full season to assess the squad and the players, and should have a better idea of what players we need.

The handball at least was checked. Play stopped for a bit and the commentator mentioned a check was happening. VAR looks at everything though. They wouldn't be able to bring things the referee missed to his attention if they didn't. That doesn't mean the VAR official is going to get it right however. It's unbelievable that the handball one wasn't referred to the referee. An absolute stonewall penalty if I've ever seen one.

Rashford penalty shout is too soft. You wouldn't be calling that a penalty if it was oppo striker and DDG trying to save.

Was desperate for us to get a last minute winner for his reaction. I get that a commentator on a local radio station is going to have some bias in favour of that team but he was horrendous.

Numerous comments about the United fans like 'being from London' and 'tourists who don't know what a foul is'. Non-stop whinging about Bruno, outright saying 'I don't like Antony, never have' and then imitating a child's voice pretending to be him begging the ref for a card. Whilst Garnacho's getting treatment he suggests it's a plan from Ten Hag to 'give the 10 men a breather' :wenger: Completely unprofessional.

Yup, couldn't have put it better myself. If the guy thinks he's a professional commentator then he's completely deluded.

I just can't help think if it was reversed it'd have been replayed on tv over and over again with the commentator emphasising the contact, telling us how united got away with one.

Extra points for a neville "ooooo" when seeing the contact.

I know but I wonder why Barca got away with this in their big days. They played Iniesta and Xavi yet they dominated each opponent both home and away.
I was happy to see both Sancho and Bruno initially in midfield but it clearly didn't work

It is very simple. You have the ball, you don't have to defend. You keep giving the ball away you keep having to defend and of course shit can happen anytime.

Control is key. As shown by City and Arsenal.

That's true, the narrative always changes when we are the one getting favored.

But it looked more like rashford wanted a contact and dived eventually.

That's my take away from the game too, an important point gained, especially given the circumstances of us being a player light for about an hour of the match.

It looked a dive from my seat but there does appear to be contact.

I haven't seen the Bruno challenge on him in the first half back, was that a pen?

Why are some of you so bent up over top 4?

We’re favourites to win the Europa League, which is a much better route to the CL next season because it puts us in the big boy’s pot and a potentially easier group, not to mention it’s a another European trophy in ETH’s first season.

Have some fecking confidence you melts.

The only stonewall penalty i think was the handball one. Rest were open for debate.

Getting top 4 will be tough with a knackered squad and no Casemiro for 4 games. Time to throw our eggs in the Europa League basket?

There was a short replay later on TV and it showed the keeper did tackle Rashford's left leg.

For me the Bruno one was not a pen because their defender did touch the ball first.

we have good chances and are co favourites but with arsenal juve or sevilla there are quality clubs left in the competition where we are not the clear favs. in the end we will get top4 and hopefully one more cup trophy and it will be a top maiden season for eth

Does it feel like time to do that 8 points clear of 5th? It wouldn’t even be time to do that if we were 8 points off 5th mate.

I thought it probably was a red card on balance. Immediate reaction in the Stretford End was pretty much "sh*t, that might get reviewed".

That being said, weve seen inconsistent refereeing all season and it does seem referees cant wait to come down harshly on us given the opportunity - maybe overcompensating for an apparent "big club bias"?

Maybe you misunderstood me, I wasn’t subjectively claiming we’re favourites, we’re actually the bookies’ favourites - so my point stands, have some fecking confidence.

It’s sad that the betting industry thinks we’ll win it but some of our so called fans think Sevilla are a tough game when we knocked out Barcelona!

Then they should punish the other clubs as well, yet they get away with everything. Are we the only 'Big Club'.

Whenever a manager mentions the referees with such implications, they get suspended. Fergie got a few of those over the years. Wenger as well, I think.
I haven't seen Pep, Klopp nor Conte get a ban for some of the crap they have said about referees in pressers or during matches. Banning managers may have been a thing under the SAF-Mourinho-Wenger triumvirate, but not anymore.

I know ETH is defending his player but his previous red card record means absolutely nothing because it was in a different league and a league that is known for having referees who show huge favoritism to the club he played for and Barcelona.

Of the three pk shouts the only one that was nailed on, obvious-as-can-be was the handball. Bruno and Marcus were correctly called IMJ.

With the exception of the 9 nil Southampton have always given us a game home and away. Will be glad to see the back of them.

One of those odd games. There were 3 big calls that could go either way. When you look at each incident in isolation you can sort of understand the call, but when one side benefits from all 3 it does feel unfair. I know that referees aren't supposed to compensate for earlier calls, but sometimes I wish that such common sense street rules were allowed to slip past.
