Something struck me at the end of the game. With all the injuries is that the highest combined squad numbers we've played in a competitive game?
Probably still can't beat City at that, they started

not too mention 62 and 77 coming off the bench

I managed to cut a short vid of the Caf being mentioned on Eurosport:

Midgetland. Arsenal. Watch out. Louis Van Gaal's barmy army are back in business.

Liverpool's team vs Exeter that drew had an average age of 22.87.
Ours tonight that beat Shrewsbury 3-0 had an average age of 23.42.

Not much to shout about really but interesting side note nonetheless.

It was a result, a result that keeps that god awful manager at OT.

Our team is stripped to the bare bones and a decent team would have beaten them 8-0 tonight.

But its still a win and we are still in the cup.

Thursday night will be a better test, followed by Arsenal.

Feel sorry for Keane.

We should self-relegate ourselves to League 1. We would finish in the top 4 for sure.

Martial must be absolutely shattered and poor lad will have to play.

We understand United are chasing at least one goal going into the 2nd leg, but Martial shouldn't have to start. Come off the bench yes, but he's knackered and needs rest before exerting even more energy against Arsenal.

United should at least show up and threaten to score at home against Miditledkjyland.

Awkward with Rooney and Keane injured. We are now short up front.

Van Gaal just told BT sports that he stole the 2nd goal offside style from Midgetland.

So he is taking ideas from the little teams, some philosophy!

Shrewsbury have a player called Abu Ogogo.

I swear, if they don't have a chant for him to the tune of Wake Me Up (Before You Go-Go), I'm disowning my hometown.

feck off! So big teams are not allowed to try something that could work??? It doesn't matter if the team who use that is good or "bad"...

Decent performance without doing much. Memphis looked like he did not care.

Really? There's wasn't anyone else on the pitch who wanted to score and create goals more than him. If you judge by body language then Martial doesn't care every match.

We know about Will Keane going off injured, but LVG just said that Lingard was really struggling at the end tonight too.

Einstein a.....

They offered very little tbh. Nice comfortable win but we didn't learn anything except even more of our players are injured.

Hope CBJ and Martial are fit for Midgetland

I honestly don't know, i'm no sports scientist. I don't know how many are muscle injuries or how many are impact injuries.

Me either, but this sort of injury list is something that has happened in both of LvG's seasons now.

We got rid of that Matt Radcliffe physio if I remember correctly, maybe pointing the finger at him, rather than the actually finding the root cause to our injury issues.

It has to be down to our training programme all these injuries we're picking up. I know Varela was back tonight but surely some others should be due back soon.

As for the match, it was a decent win I was fairly pessimistic going into it but regardless of how bad we've been recently we should really be winning these games.

Took 37 minutes to score and it was kind of a freakish goal as you wouldn't expect Smalling so far upfield.

Was starting to think they would keep us scoreless first half and then play with our desperation in the 2nd half, as has happened countless times over the past season.
