Post-match discussion

Seen lots of fans from other clubs loving the game last night. And then you get the bitter fecks complaining about the commentators not being impartial
I read one fan (poss scouser) saying it wasn't a great result because it was only Lyon!!! The funniest commentary for me had to be hearing Rio and Savage explode after Mainoo scoring and when Harry scored their voices broke! I think even Darren Fletcher lost it!!!

Fair play mate, you guys have a good side! Some great forwards who can cause problems.

I have a lot of respect for your club, always enjoyed our ties against you.
Love this reply and the original comment from said Lyon fan. Credit has to be given for the way they came back at us at OT especially with 10 men. I think the subs they made really worked for them especially Lacozette (scuse the spelling!) but for us to come back like that was a huge boost. I think what also made this special is that we did all this with one of our weakest sides for years but the 'we'll never die' attitude after they scored the 4th goal, that's what we've been missing for a long time. Relief, excitement, jubilation, frustration, I think every emotion known came out last night. A brilliant quarter final match

I don't think I've ever heard Old Trafford as loud as it was after that Maguire goal.

Can anyone think of any another goals scored at the stadium that produced just a complete wall of sound like last night?

That has to be some kind of db record.
Last time I recall an atmosphere like that at OT (or atmospheres) included winning the Prem for the first time, that moment Eric scored against Arsenal with a blinding free kick (and said white bandage) and 1984 when Robbo really produced a Captain Marvel performance against a much fancied Barca mate. Lat night brought back the good times

I feel our defence weakened significantly once Shaw came on for Maz. Was Maz injured or did Amorim's tweak almost costed the game? Or maybe he did it on purpose so I almost have a heart attack.
Agree that Shaw had something to do with the last 2 goals. First 2 goals were more to do with the entire team being tired and slow

Still? It's all so shady. They have a transfer ban (and threatened to be relegated), let's just get a top player (Almada) on loan from Botafogo for free, club which happens to be owned by same guy (Textor).
RWDM, another club owned by Textor is a tiny club in Belgium. Their budget is about €5m per year. They buy Ernest Nuamah for €25m in 2023, never played a game for them because they immediately loan him out to Lyon. Biggest incoming transfer in Belgium, ever.
Lyon buy Jeffinho, year later sell him to Botafogo, with 30% interest on a possible resale.

Disgusting.

Lyon are our Everest.

What a minnow this club has become.
Posted to whinge when we went down, and wasn't seen again until right now, of course somehow to whinge some more.

How miserable would you have to be?

Steve Bruce vs Sheffield Wednesday back in 92/93. Scored two injury time goals.

That was absolutely invaluable to our fight title since 1967.

I've got Virgin Go on my laptop. Is there a way to record the last 10 mins to keep? I enjoy keeping the actual as it happens recording around for games like this

Watched it again this morning, just had to. What a game of football, those who were on the stands will remember it forever and talk about it as one of the best matches they've seen. 9 goals, 42 shots, 17 on goal.. the despair, feeling we hit the rock bottom and 3 goals in last 6 minutes to turn it around with everything on the line. Simply no words to describe all the madness. It is something that only United can give you.
No doubt, the roller coaster of emotions was a crazy watch and will live forever in the memories of many fans. At the same time, those roller coaster things, as good as they feel, I always have the picture of Woody in the back of my head talking about Disney land...

Look at the Redcafe thread for videos. It takes you to a site where you were able to download videos as well. You can crop them if you wish. Sorry, can't tell anything about that particular app though. But there probably is a way to extract the mp4-file, you just have to skim the folders to find it.

Did anyone get the correct score prediction?

I can't disagree with you, unfortunately. I profoundly dislike the new ownership and the 'multiclub' thing. Textor is a real chancer, without any kinfd of money and he's driving us directly to bankruptcy. He's selling all our assets in the process...

But what I like about my club, the one thing that makes me still love it despite its shambolic management, it's that our local players, born here, raised here, supporters of the club like us, are the core of the team: Tolisso, Cherki, Lacazette, Mikautadze...

Understand that, I should have mentioned I really dislike the ownership, not the club really.

I don't doubt that a Manchester United supporter can make the difference between a club and its ownership ;)

That grated with me too. I'm glad that our club never stoops that low

The Dalot and Maguire goals especially pissed me off. Maguire beats him to a header so he falls over and just expects the whistle to go. I’d heard Lyon were physical as well. Athletic sure, but they’re just as bad as Spanish sides for falling down.

Are Bilbao going to be more difficult than Lyon?;

We need to get out record against Spanish teams a brush over.
Yes considerably more difficult, that motivation of playing a final in their own stadium is too big

Yeah, they're fourth in the league and have the best defence in all of La Liga (better than Real, Barca, Atletico).

On the plus side, they play their derby away to Sociedad between the two legs of the tie, which will be a big challenge for what's probably a fairly thin squad. They're not going to be able to just write off league games like we will.

The placement and accuracy of our shots on goal last night was pretty amazing. With the possible exception of the Ugarte goal, Dalot, Bruno's pen, Mainoo, and Maguire's goals were immaculately placed. The keeper guessed correctly on all of them but the accuracy was just too good.

What a match. Don’t think I’ve gone through so many emotions in 90 minutes of football before, that’s including the 99’ champions league.

Strangely I feel like we’d fair better taking a shot with Maguire up front as our striker and feeding him cross after cross . It can’t be no worse than what’s currently available.

I think number one for rollercoaster of various emotions is the 99 FA cup SF vs Arsenal.

I would definitely put yesterday in the top 3 or 4, of course if we don’t win the Europa then in time people might start underplaying how emotionally wild it was, if we win the Europe it will arguably go down as one of the greatest games in our history, and the better Amorim does next season and seasons the more legendary yesterday will become

Yes they are and to be honest the United performance over the two legs that was good enough to beat Lyon won't be enough to beat them so a big improvement required whereby hopefully helped by the return of Amad and De ligt

Watched back on Bilbao match last night, San Mamés stadium is a real intimidating area full of colour of noise even coming back for there with a 1 goal margin of defeat will be a decent result.

But for now let's enjoy the remarkable match last night a little bit more.
