Remove 4 min and we are winning this with a couple of goals. No need to be alarmed, just iron out the mistakes.

Great comeback! Worrying end. We need more depth but we all know that. It really is pathetic how thin we are at midfield. Criminal.

Start Sancho false 9 vs Arse.

Hope Varane is OK. With all this extra time more and more players will get soft tissue injuries. They need a middle ground.
He can't even hold the ball up and you want to start him? He's done nothing these past few games.

Martial 0 shots on target.
Rashford 1 shot on target about 88min when he got greedy.
Need I go on!

Forwards...
That's your last game Martial. It was your 300th game. Call it a testimonial. Now kindly move on. Lille might be good for you.

Better, more organised, and more dangerous teams will ruin us. We got away with it today. We won't always get away with it. The amount of goals we're shipping and the ease in which we're doing so is worrying.
We will also probably beat some of those teams by being better organised and dangerous than them when we face them.

Of course Eriksen scored. Proper grown-up midfielder.

giving away some really soft goals/chances

played well for the most part

A nervy enough finish

Overall good but we seem miles away from a settled mentally strong side

Are you ignoring Antony’s shots on target because it doesn’t fit your rhetoric?

I only watched about 35' of the first half but listened to the rest. Was Onana not sweeping as much this game? I wonder if ETH told him to stay closer to goal? When Awoniyi was through I kept thinking, no problem, Onana got this. Then I'm screaming, where Onana at? WTF?

I haven't seen the game yet thank feck I wasn't on here being 2-0 down after 4 minutes

Very unconvincing again but we’ll take it.
Really need that other midfielder in. And Hojlund to be fit and do well.

Good result, tough sledding getting there.

A lot of EtH’s philosophy is that 5 seconds after we turn the ball over, working like madmen to win it back. We’re doing okay at the part. Our problem is once we have the ball, creating a cutting move that leads to a chance seems beyond us. Today we camped in Forest’s half. We had very little direct approach play, too often switching the ball out wide for a cross, instead of 1-2s in the box. The Eriksen goal was an exception.

I’m usually not like this, but anyone that says we didn’t almost completely dominate that game has the most sour s@@t colored glasses on…find another team if you can’t enjoy a good performance.

1st half stats 1-2 behind

Shots on goal - United 9 Forest 3
Shots on target - United 5 Forest 2
Total passes - United 371 Forest 159

2nd half stats 2-0 in scoring to United

Shots on goal - United 9 Forest 6
Shots on target - United 4 Forest 2
Total passes - United 254 Forest 142

Good performance!
I have two gripes. We cannot finish any counters. Ffs.
We need to be able to hold possession better at the end of the game.
And ETH needs to do better with his subs. Case was done by 80th minute.

My main takeaway is that United need to get used to lower half teams structuring themselves defensively with the gambit of focussing on Marcus Rashford and stopping him scoring, and believing that will be sufficient to shutting down the United attack.

A fit centre forward and a smart Antony should be able to do a lot of damage with all the gaps left doubling and tripling up on Rashford today. A number of times United attacks were stopped dispossesing Rashford with two or three men on him, and nobody free to receive the ball. Heck, just having Luke Shaw or Malacia overlapping would have made Forest a lot more vulnerable.

Hojlund could make a massive difference to making our attack a bit more multi-dimensional.

So 4 goals conceded in 3 games and Wolves had plethora of chances. Goal difference 0. Things can only get better from here!

So I’m curious about this as well. There was one counter in particular where NF kicked the ball a clear 25 yards past their man to run into, it was sitting maybe 12 feet from Onana inside the box, the Forest player wasn’t near it yet but was obviously going to beat the defender to it … and he was glued to his line. I thought they were going to score on that one.

it just seemed odd.

And breathe…..

What a game!

Disastrous start. Somewhat of a freak occurrence their goals but at 0-2 after 4 minutes it all could’ve unravelled fast.

We played with incredible desire and intensity to get back to 3-2 up, and from there you saw us crash. The adrenaline wore off and we got sloppy. It’s hard to go from such intense frenetic football to calm controlled stuff. People completely underestimate human psychology.

Very happy with the win. Big issues to address, but a lot of great football today, tons of character, and a real zinger of a match.
You always seem to find the right words for what I'm thinking. Loved the intensity which was what I was missing the game before against Spurs

They’re debating our penalty decision on BBC Final Score at some length  Well that’s those referees banned next week
The comments on their article about the result are rather delicious. Rashford has always been a cheat, United are bribing the refs and always get penalties at home. I feel sorry for these people

apart from the first few minutes, it basically went as you expect this fixture to go. I still find us underwhelming to watch, our passing and creativity leaves a lot to be desired. Our decision making in the final third is just so

I hated how we sat back and decided to just hang on when we went ahead, even worse against ten men.

Still glad we fought back and we deserved to win in the end.

Lots to say about conceding so early and the way we did, and also lots to say about the fight and character of this squad. That said, this system (Eriksen partnering with Casemiro, Rashford on the left, Bruno as attacking midfielder, and a proper striker- which by the way should be Sancho, not Martial, until Hojlund is ready) is far more suitable to this squad than the two 8s.

Hope ETH is keeping receipts. When Mount comes back, he should go either on the right wing, or behind Bruno. Recasting players where they don’t belong is a bad proposition. The metal of a good coach is to create a system that suits his squad, not the other way around.

This puzzled me a few times today, he really seemed reluctant to leave his box and come for things in those sort of situations. Clearly an instruction, but seems odd to me.

I think it’s because Rashford was running alongside him and the striker was coming from his own half. Rashford should have tackled him really and if Onana came out he would easily have been chipped. It’s more the loose balls keepers are meant to sweep up

What was the summary on how we played?
I was streaming it but also at work.

It seems we actually played good if you ignore the first few minutes, but every time I looked up, it always felt like Forrest was on yet another counter attack

Showed great character to come back though we’re still miles off it. Even could’ve lost the 3-2 lead with how we played in the last 20 minutes.
