Looked steady at the back.
Limp up top.
With clinical forwards we win that.

What would it take to see Zirkzee play #10 and Chido lead the line?

Hojlund is absolute waste of space, at this point. Zirkzee actually had a decent game, but he was nowhere close to scoring, probably would have been even more effective if he played instead of the wasteful Garnacho. And Chido, I understand he is too young to start against City, but in famous words of Sir Alex "if they are good enough, they are old enough", time to give him some real chance against some opponent before season is over
I suspect that if he was good enough he'd be playing. So what would it take? For him to become a better footballer.

ABUs in tears over that. Wanted us to get hammered, instead we look better than city so they claim to be delighted at 0-0 because it helps Villa and Newcastle...

Yeah that confused me when they mentioned that City would be happy with a draw. They badly need the points with Forest and Chelsea not letting up, and Villa and Newcastle breathing down their necks.

Not necessarily. He is very young, so they may be hesitant to put pressure on his shoulders, despite him very likely being much better than Hojlund's current form

He's not wrong, that was exactly what the gameplan was and we executed it pretty well

Yes, but he phrased it like we were holding back waves of attacks, but City were very tepid even accounting for our decent defending, other than Foden's decent chance I can't think of one clear opening they had.

My point is we didn't defend well at the expense of going forward, something we did alot more than City overall, yet Neville didn't seem to really acknowledge this.

We're poor in final third. First half Dalot sent in a great cross but Garnacho failed to take advantage of it. Later on Dorgu was in clear situation but probably decided not to shoot with Bernardo Silva just behind him. Second half City were better until 70th minute and then we had some promising attacks but ultimately (unsurprisingly) failed to score. We got better with Zirkzee and Mount on the pitch instead of Hojlund and Ugarte.

Another solid performance against a good side (as bad as City have been this season) and a promising performance in some ways as well. We were bit better all in all but it's definitely a 0-0 draw. One more point and hopefully over last 7 games we'll pick up a decent amount of points to end the season in a positive way. Europa obviously priority.

The simple truth is that we have only one semi-reliable goal scorer, and that’s Bruno. The finishing in this squad is absolutely dreadful. Hojlund compounds the problem by being clueless in his movement and runs.

I am seeing much better counter attacking and build up play at times, but then there is still major breakdowns in communication. I’m happy to change the entire attack, save Amad and Bruno. Sell Garnacho, sell Hojlund, maybe keep Zirkzee for depth, buy two strikers who can finish, a true RWB and probably another young 10. Jury is still out on Dorgu as well… selling Hojlund, Garnacho, Rashford, should net 140m, maybe? Go get Osihmen and Gyokeres.

I’d like to see if Amorim can make his vision a reality.

Game was as dull as dishwater but definitely the better team. Unfortunately our lack of quality forward players stopped us from winning.

The lack of urgency in extra time is infuriating. Do they not want to try and score a last minute winner? They’re just so casual wasting seconds to take a throw in in our own half. Get the ball up the pitch and make the opposition panic.

same issues going forward, Bruno was Bruno, Mazraoui was good, Yoro's starting to come into his own, the football hasn't quite left Casemiro, Dalot was decent. Not a high quality game. Clean sheet for Onana, Mount cameo (telling that when he and Zirkzee came on we looked more threatening), nice to see Shaw back on the bench.

No injuries, on to Lyon

Didn't get the opportunity to watch it should I bother later? At least didn't lose and didn't concede.
Absolutely 100% categorically undeniably not. I'd be surprised if it even lasted ten seconds on match of the day 2

Awful game, flat atmosphere and about a billion tourists in the East Upper.

Even the protest was crap. About 15 people in East upper stayed

I heard a stat yesterday that Cunha has spent the highest amount (or proportion?) of minutes in the league at walking pace. Kinda puts me off.
Didn’t see that. Just going off what I’ve seen of him, strong dribbler and scores goals.
Two attackers who can score are needed. Not sure if Cherki has enough goal threat.

Bruno was a stratosphere ahead of every single other player from both teams on that pitch today. If we win the EL, it will be because he’s dragged us over the line in the upcoming rounds. World class.

Fans who support globally supported club want to see a Manchester derby at Old Trafford shocker.

I will never understand this whole tourist problem. Please do explain it to me.

Some want him just for the sake of signing a EPL-proven big name. He wouldn't suit us that much and has got a terrible character.

Certainly a level above anyone in our squad

Yoro and Mazraoui looked solid, we look far better with wing backs on their natural side, Casemiro looks decent when Ugarte is alongside him as his legs and Bruno has come into his own dictating so that’s all positive.

Garnacho is more frustrating than I used to find Nani and seems to believe he’s the second coming of Ronaldo with his cutting in and attempting a shot every single time he gets chance or loses the ball when running, I didn’t want him to go in January but with how he's been since then I’d let him go in the summer.

Don’t even know what to say with Hojlund anymore as he just doesn’t seem to understand that his job is just as much about movement and finding space as it is scoring goals yet he can’t do any of those three, I’d honestly rather see us play Chido til the end of the season as he’s looked better all round in his cameos than Hojlund has all season.

We were the better side and a scruffy 1-0 win would have been a fair result. Team play within defence and midfield has definitely improved and we are solid unlike the chaos under EtH. But, our "attack" is the worst I have seen in 62 years of watching United. Quality replacements for Hojlund and Garnacho are essential, along with the return of Amad.

City are a shadow of their former selves.
John Brooks is a terrible ref.

Interested in an explanation too. As a United member who attends as many games as I can (long time season ticket ‘waiting’ person too, and would happily take a cup ST), am I viewed as a tourist then or ‘day tripper’ as used to be banded about.

Not members’ fault if a ST holder doesn’t want to go to the derby today.

Not the most entertaining of games. We were just tad better I thought.

It absolutely destroys the atmosphere in the ground. They’re more concerned with getting selfies than chanting on cheering the team on.

Not only that, I know people 10 mins from the ground that couldn’t get a ticket for today’s game but a ton of foreign tourists can.

We don’t often sit in the East stand but we did earlier this season for the Rangers game and it was bouncing and everyone was stood for the full game.

Today it was dead and everyone was sat in their seat, half of which wearing their half and half United/City scarves.

I get that there will be some international fans because we’re a big club but for me they should be WAY more limited and local fans that grew up at least in the North West should be able to get tickets easier.

We didn’t get accepted in the ballot and only managed to get tickets though the CAF. How are so many tourists getting tickets when I usually wound be able to?

I wouldn’t if you go on a few games. Me and the lad aren’t season ticket holders but are on the list. We’ve been to all but 3 games so far this season.

It’s the fact they’re are so many fans (especially today it seems) that are from all over the world, don’t know songs and don’t really vocally support the team in a game that could have really done with it.

I guess they spend more in the megastore though so are more appealing

Agreed and whilst it is frustrating with cameras taking videos and their megastore bags etc, they are a paid up member just like any other and are applying for tickets in the same manner or waiting for ST returns (I assume). I can’t see how the club can differentiate to be honest and it definitely benefits the club financially (albeit not benefiting atmosphere-wise).

Ref was a disgrace
We're improving
We can't score
Ugarte can't play a full 90 which is concerning, I thought he came with a reputation of a never-injured always-running engine.

City have a lot of work to do before next season. What a stale squad, amazing how fast it seemed to happen.

For sure taking today as a positive, we were much more likely to score. Most above have already stated the issues with our attack.

Yoro, sure looks like a player, need him to carry it forward more.

Casemiro being around next year, looks less like a bad thing (especially with knowing we can't get anything for him on those wages).

Dorgu was a bit wasteful, but I assume he will keep improving with more PL experience, love his engine.

I'm not sure it's a stamina thing but more of a creativity issue. We often play better when Bruno is moved into the centre and we're often chasing for a winner or equalizer in games. Bruno still gets forward but it means we get another attacking player on the pitch when he takes over in the centre.

One team was clearly on the up, starting to gel and click together and one team was completely stagnated.

All that money spent in January and they're still shite.

I think we’re just missing a decent 9, another 10 and a RWB, although Amad has been decent there.

You can definitely see what Amorim wants now and to an extent it works. You can see the players trying it but a few just don’t look good enough to pull it off.

In a much better place than we were in a few weeks back.

Performances are improving, i think the wing back roles are learning in the team just missing a little up front but we're looking better
Agree. And I think we just shaded that. Should win home games, of course, but - apart from the criminal lack of a reliable goalscorer - we looked pretty well set up to me. No attacking finesse, but some effective football.
