Once again Ole leaving it way too late to try anything different.

Martial again lazy and completely shit!
Pogba in a decent run of form
Bruno looked groggy and fecked up pass after pass!

A game perfectly summing up the mood of the lockdown

Too many sub average performances, 2 mistakes lead to their two goals. Do we practice defending set pieces?

We looked toothless going forward, City weren't great and scored from 2 corners.
Ole needs to be a bit more bold with his subs.
Ah well, onwards and upwards!

The better team won. We underperformed especially at the final third. Ruben Dias, what a beast!

very sloppy performance, maguire, what were you thinking when you saw the ball moving across you?

another frustration... we will bounce back

Extra 7 days rest for City really showed after the busiest period of the season.

Plus we are shite at defending set pieces.

A deserved loss, but it was an even game until the first City goal. They scored both just at the right time and are still a very good team.

They were the better team for the majority of the game. Well deserved for them. Controlled the ball better and created chances to score. We barely did anything in 90 minutes.

So that's why Ole went for 0-0 in the league.

City defense faultless. We lose confidence going against top sides.

We are not a Cup winning team. League maybe, with good results against lesser teams, but not Cups.

Embarrassing performance and result. Our approach to this fixture since LVG has always been embarrassing anyway. Spend all those millions and play park the bus & try counter-attacks all the time at your home. Let City take control of the ball and the control of the game like midtable clubs. We were defending while we were losing and that says it all about the difference between two team's approach.

LVG was completely right: All Ole knows is park the bus and counter. His in-game management or signings are not better than his subpar coaching either. If we kept Smalling and didn't sign that slabhead we would've been much better both in defense and also in attacking set pieces. That £80m should've been used for a RW. Not for a player that solved nothing in our defence. Smalling-Bailly would've been a much better CB partnership than Maguire-Lindelöf.

If Maguire puts one of his headers away it’s a different game. Just didn’t get any lucky breaks today.

I wonder did Pep mishear when the board told him to dominate the champions league cup?

The greatest league cup side I ever remember, fair play to them, good today and great vs chelsea maybe they are finding form

I'd be tempted to give the likes of Bruno and Rashy a rest vs Watford, I'd love to win a trophy, but players like Bruno could really use a rest and while we are in contention for the league (don't think we will win it unfortunately) we need to focus on that

Unlike last season, the back up options aren't scraping the bottom of the barrel, you'd like to think the likes of Mason/ Donny etc are capable of conquering Watford if needed have Rashy/ Bruno on the bench

Would really like to know what's going on with Donny, thought he was supposed to be decent?

Bad performance all around. Idk what Donnie needs to do to get into the line up over McTominay.

Need to bounce back quickly and get 3 points vs Burnley.

Unable to lay a glove on them with Rashford, Martial and Bruno having awful games.

Pathetic set piece defending yet again,

Failure in yet another semi final

Disappointing. Two bad goals conceded.

I don't care how much he's cost, Wan-Bisakka needs to be replaced.

Not too much to say about that. Fairly even game with both teams for the most part trying to attack, with City slightly edging it. They deserved the win.

Really poor and too negative, have played City twice at home this season and not tested them at all.

Maguire at fault again
Fernandes lost the ball at every opportunity, passing was awful and then resorted to 40 yard efforts when we were building pressure.
Martial as always taking about 5 touches too many

game of fine margins, unfortunately their players put in a 7/10 and ours 5-6/10

not the end of the world just a tough opponent

Weird game. Thought we did well for a while, and then completely lost the plot in attack. Coincided with Bruno going for the Hollywood pass at every opportunity.

Insipid, tame, and passive. We were easily kept at arms length. And not one player looked tuned in to this game. We let a football match happen to us, it didn’t really feel like we participated.

So, in five home games against Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, and City, we drew two and lost three, scoring a single goal - from a penalty - in the process.

Thankfully, this was only the League Cup so by and large I don't give a feck but anyone who still believes we are somehow title contenders is having a laugh. Also, Bruno shouldn't even be in the squad against Watford. He looked every bit a player exhausted by carrying a team on his back for months.

'city were better than us, just have to accept that.
We didn't play badly. Yes we could have done some things better but the lads have another chance this season to get to a final.

They just need to go back and work harder. Hopefully they move on from this very quickly and concentrate on their upcoming fixtures.

Punished at set pieces again. Honestly though, rather tonight than against Burnley.

My greatest disappointment from tonight is that so many of our best players ran themselves into the ground for nothing.

Our key men should have been protected for Burnley. The League Cup is nice to win and everything. Jose won it though and it was a catalyst to nothing.

We're in the hunt for the league for the first time in ages. That's what Ole should be focused on. IMO tonight was a night for Van de Beek and Dan James. Not Rashford and Bruno.

What a bunch of bottlers or what. Big time reality check tonight. And what does vdb coming on for 30secs do?

Worrying how sloppy and toothless our attack looked tonight, which is ultimately what let us down. We looked promising going forward at times but really we were limited to long shots and speculative dribbles.

That said, it was a much more mature performance than similar games last year.

A bite of reality for us there. We’re still a long way off and will continue to be while we play a midfield who can neither set the tempo or actually offer our defence much protection. Not to mention defenders not realising it may be a good idea to clear the ball from our box at set pieces.

Why doesn't Ole make substitutions earlier? He's like a robot. His subs are all either at 60 or 75 mins. Unless you're VDB, then you get 3 minutes to make your mark.
