I think it is clear to all that Pogba does not give a fig for the club his manager or the fans all he cares about is self publicising and picking up his obscene wages whilst putting in as little effort as possible
I think scumbag is being kind
He didn't play. Give it a rest

Neville still beating the drum re not backing Mourinho in the summer with one of the CBs he wanted. Fair enough, it's illogical to have given him a new contract then not back him so soon after.

But really, how much different would the current situation be if they had? They might be tighter at the back, but what evidence is there that the team wouldn't still be playing insipid attacking football week-in week-out? Should we really believe that Mourinho would play with more invention and attacking intent? Would he be getting more out of Pogba, Sanchez, Rashford, Lukaku, just because they had a better Centre Half in the team? I somehow doubt it.

How different would that performance really have been if you replace Lindelof/Bailly with (the admittedly very good) Alderweireld? As Mourinho points out, and he's got a point, the killer goals actually came at a point when Utd actually had been defending quite comfortably for a while.

I appreciate Neville doesn't want to be seen as the type of pundit that calls for managers to go, but how can you look at the situation at Utd and suggest that the principal problem is that they should have bought a CB in the summer.

Mourinho has looked, all season, as if he's just going through the motions. Moaning relentlessly so that when the inevitable happens and he goes, a certain amount of column inches will be reserved for all of the ways that none of this was his fault. He's profoundly damaging the club at this point.

How many long balls did we play from the back. Its a rhetorical question. De Gea and young were criminal. Then when we did try to play it, it was sideways passing from Herrera and Matic.

It is like Tony Pulis is managing us. Manchester fecking United and we play like West brom or stoke.

I already did. Arnautovic's goal against us at the Olympic stadium was the turning point for me.
I’ve watched 99% of games since I was around 7-8 years old, that’s 13-14 years ago. That includes pre-season games at the middle of the night. The only ones I’ve missed are games I’ve been physically unable to watch.

I’m honestly done with Mourinho. Not only are we playing terribly bad, which I could live with, but to see us play so defensively week in week out is unacceptable for this club. Today we had an approach you’d only expect from the bottom clubs in the league. I’ve had enough. I’m not going to watch any more games until either Mourinho is gone or he against all odds turns it around (which is close to 0% likely to happen imo).

I have no idea how you go into a game with midfielders who can't create chances. I'd love to know how many goals have been assisted by Matic and Herrera at United. I'm sure they will be paltry. Then you bring on Fellaini who is also inept who specialises with 5-yard safe passing.

It's not just Pogba who's being dishonest or cheating the fans. He is probably the only player who has the guts to stand up to Mourinho. I hated LvG's footballing philosophy with a passion.
Matic had 6 assists in his last season at Chelsea. His first season under conte when they won the league. It’s not that they can’t assist it’s that they are in the least probable position to do so. They never press high up enough or instructed to attack the box enough. Either it all lands back on mourinho.

If we wait till 4th is mathematically out of reach to change manager what message does that send? The Board are happy if we scrape into the money pit! Why not stand up for the style of football the club has almost always tried to play-fast, attacking, passionate football that gets you of your seat. The only mass "bums off seats" is the early exodus. Cue rival fans chant "Is there a fire drill?"

Team actually worked hard today. It’s just too bad the quality wasn’t there. One team actually played with one mind while the other just played as individuals. I think you can attribute that to the respective managers. Can’t even blame the players because that score line should have been more embarrassing. What they were missing was a game plan from the manager on how to counter attack and win instead of hoping for a lucky break.

I’ve checked out for a while now and just casually watch games in the background. Not much you can do at this point but whether the storm and wait for mourinho’s sacking. Will also note that I can’t blame the board if they decide to wait till the end of the season because I really don’t want mourinho getting any richer after what he has put us through.
I beg to differ on the work rate, nobody from front to back was picking up a man to defend. Liverpool were waltzing past with ease.

Mourinho the master tactician !!

He summed it up in his after match press conference.

He actually admitted that at Real Madrid he played on the counter attack.

A team of GALACTICOS and Maureen played on the counter.

OMG

Amazing how, despite not getting on the pitch, Souness is still criticisings pogba and his attitude

It's precisely because of his attitude that he's not on the pitch. I'd prefer a lesser gifted player who left everything on the pitch than one that strolls around thinking he's too good to be there.
Encapsulates everything that's wrong at the club.

Could be something in Pogba's attitude, who knows but other managers haven't mentioned it. Ronaldo is the ultimate professional yet Jose hated him too.

Awful performance overall, there's no excuse for that style of play and them having 36 shots says it all.

I'm just becoming apathetic to it all and keeping Mourinho is becoming a complete waste of time at this point.

It was a relief to hear Rebecca, Earle and Martino all say it like it is. When Neville doesn’t have the stones to call out the manager and tactics.

I have no idea who these people are you're talking about but they are nowhere near the club AFAIK, whereas G Nev still has to show some restraint when he has to be around the club for his TV duties.
You can tell he's biting his tongue but that's the way he has to be.

I have to say that amongst everything else, it’s embarassing watching some of those players attempt the basics. The basics of passing a ball accurately to a team mate, sticking with your runner and smelling the danger, crossing the ball accurately, putting your body on the line when there is a 50/50 ball, having the courage to try and recieve the ball under pressure. Ashley Young gives that goal away today and it just feels like one of those things because it happens so often. It’s appaling defending, really dreadful stuff and it just isn’t a surprise any more. This week it was Young but it could have been Lindelof, Bailly, Jones, Smalling Rojo, Shaw etc and it really wouldn’t have been a surprise because they’ve all done it. No-one says anything, no-one reacts, it’s just part of us now and that’s the most disappointing thing about it.

You look at the midfield as well, none of them can pass the ball. None of them can dictate the game, none of them can retain the ball under pressure. Not one of them. This is a club who’ve had Scholes, Keane, Robson, Giggs, Carrick etc in the midfield winning trophies. Today I’m watching Ander Herrera at Anfield. This is Manchester United and we’re going to Anfield with Hererra and Felaini in midfield second half, Lindelof, Bailly, Darmian, Young, Lingard alongside them. I look at that and I’m really scratching my head wondering what I’m watching.

The ambition at the football club has gone. Generally, you can accept these results and these periods if there’s a long term plan in place but there is no plan. There hasn’t been a plan for about 6 years. No-one is being held accountable, no-one is taking any responsbility. The manager gets it, Moyes got it, Van Gaal got it, Mourinho is getting it but I’m certain they aren’t the only ones making mistakes away from the football pitch.

There has to be a plan installed at this football club that everyone is on board with. That performance, those players, that manager (take your pic) is not acceptable. It’s totally unacceptable that we’ve had to witness that performance today.

Notice how he blames the players he has for the way we play the tw@t!

This Jose interview is extremely awkward. I want him out and think he's made bad mistakes himself but he's being hung out to dry here to an extent, as are the players (their own obvious failings aside).

Feck him.

He's going crazy about excessive use of love hearts in the modern world. Really boils his piss apparently.

He and his cult are going to claim it's unlucky but to the rest of the world it is kind of obvious: if you don't even try to play football and just wait in your own box for it to be over, then it's not going to go very well most of the time.

Well put.

Salah silenced again, for what it's worth.

Yay it’s a trophy

If it were just Anfield away I'd tolerate it. But this miserable football persists against much worse opponents. Our home form is atrocious. Our form everywhere is awful, actually. We need change on multiple fronts. That's the hard part. We can start with the manager, but it must not stop there.

It's not just Pogba who's being dishonest or cheating the fans. Mourinho with his team selection is more guilty.

It's Mourinhos playstyle. He plays to not concede, therefore he wants people who run, run, run.

That's why we had 5 defenders, his most trusted CDM Matic (lol) and a workhorse in Herrera who constantly runs back and fourth.

He had Lingard and Rashford who are always running, hence why he didn't play Martial + Pogba. Martial doesn't put in the energy like Rashford and Lingard do and no way would Pogba run more than Herrera would, after a few Phil Neville-esque step overs that fail, he'll resort back to walking.

We had Ander Herrera running the midfield in the Juanfield game, if you can remember. However LvG did not have them set up like this. Why LvG went to boring football god only knows.

Thats what I meant when I said they played like individuals. They weren’t pressing well together. Other teams seem to do it perfectly while we always half press. Even when we press ang get the ball it’s always pointless because we don’t know what to do with it. Till this day we still have certain players punting the ball forward under no pressure. It all falls back to the standards and levels of coaching at United.

19 points from top, 15 points from bottom!

Not even halfway through the season, we’re on track to get about 55 points. We’d have been 8th in the last two seasons.

There was a time when it didn't matter what kind of form Liverpool or Manchester United were in, it was always going to be a fight. But when Mourinho sets us up to defend I don't know what else he expects to happen? Squeak out a 0-0 draw? I know Lukaku is going to take a lot of flack, but what is he supposed to do when nothing is played to him and when he does get the ball, he is all alone because our wingers are deep in our own end. I thought that the match against Valencia was the worst I had ever seen us play. Today topped that match. Absolutely disgraceful. If Mourinho isn't gone by Monday I'm going to cry a little...

We are no longer a football club with goals, values or direction. We are a commercial operation and brand designed to leverage our past success to extract marketing revenue and profit from emerging markets across the globe to generate a return for an American business family.

Don't concern yourself with the idea that this club will turn around any time soon.

With displays like today our marketability won't last very long. Hopefully the board realized that and acts now rather than later...

Can't understand why Utd fans are shocked about today. Did you really think it was going to be any different. Before the match, I didn't even have 1% hope we would get a draw never mind a win. It was very similar to when they beat us 3 nil at old Trafford under Moyes.

Utd are an average team at best, competing with the likes of Everton, Wolves and Bournemouth.

This was one of Liverpool's easiest wins of the season. They coasted it.

To be this far behind when less than half way through the season is disgusting. Liverpool have conceded SEVEN goals in seventeen league games; we've conceded TWENTY-NINE. What a turnaround in one season. What the feck is going on?

That's how I felt listening to the interview, though your sentiment has much to commend it also.

XI of Utd players who didn't start today:

Romero

Valencia
Smalling
Jones
Shaw

Fellaini
Pogba
Fred

Martial
Sanchez
Mata

Wtf give your head a wobbie, the guy didn’t even play today. Seems like Jose succeeded in turning thick lot on Pogba. The only of the two WC players we currently have in our squad. Well done I say.

We rested players against Valencia, which should have been a must-win, and yet still delivered a lethargic performance against a Liverpool side who looked shaky at times. What a waste of time! That team who played in Valencia could have achieved exactly the same today.

Emery can get a stale Arsenal team looking great in 3 months, Mourinho has had 2.5 years and seriously, how many great performances have we seen in that time?

It’s rotten from top to bottom at the moment and the Glazers need to fix it or risk their selling price being affected.

Let's have a look at this, we started the game with about 6 7 defensive players, Only the front three who could make something I mean front two excluding Lukaku whom I don't know the reason behind his starting bit surely it is not a football matter, then come on Fellaini who also can not make a change or pass the ball forward. And then late attacking subs. Jose went to this game praying to achieve a point he know he can't play for the three points he started the game afriad do why are some still blame players? Yes some of them are not our standards at all but It's time to see them managed by a brave attacking mindset! Maybe?

That look says it all, 2 decades and half of hard work, passion and winning mentality fading away because of some who have no idea what is Manchester United means.
What does it mean? It's a football club like any other. Dominated a decade ago when the competition was different to today. Club still rich and makes money etc
Not trying to disparage anything, it just sounds unnecessarily grandiose is all. Normal ebbs and flows to every club.

Club standing still. Rich yes but run by non-football people, more like a circus.
