PL W FA Premier League

Post-match discussion

It’s just obvious when someone has an agenda. Don’t hide behind it and pretend you look at the game differently.
What would the agenda be? Mate, you don't know where I stand on things, lets not pretend otherwise. If you disagree, go on then, nobody cares. Shouldn't take yourself too serious on a football forum. If you are happy, be happy all day.
This in particular must have been hard for you. Hope you're doing ok.
Its a hard time. Not as hard as some of the posts in the Bruno thread but it is what it is.

Feels like it's been years since we had a routine win in the PL so got to be really pleased with that.
Big props to the United fans in the stands as well, felt like they were singing non-stop for the whole game.

XG was interesting. 1.17 Leicester - 0.89 Man Utd.

I thought we had enough clear chances to have more XG than that.
Interesting indeed. Leicester had two very good chances though. One - Buonanotte shot blocked by De Ligt, another - saved by Onana late into the match. Our goals were score from some distance.

Mostly quite enjoyed the game. Thought we played exceptionally for about half of it overall, and looked a bit shaky but showed character in the other half. Lindelof was absolutely woeful though, would have fitted in beautifully to the classic Bramble-Boumsong tradition of comedy centre backing.

Means a lot to know what you think of my opinion.

It might be. Or a different club.

You'll get there, give it a few more years. And for now - playing badly yet taking results is only good in some games and when such performances are the exception, not the rule. Once again, a lot of fans seem to look at the result and evaluate the game based on that. Not my way, but each to their own I guess
Not at all. Single games and results don’t make me optimistic about the short term future. Just saying that if you can’t avoid digging out the negatives even when we win quite comfortably, i doubt anything stops you from doing the same even if we’re competing for the title. Are you even happy when we score? Or just slightly less annoyed at the things that should have been done better in the build up for said goal?
It only affects you though, so not a problem for the rest of us. Just hope you can get any joy at all from being a United fan, even though i agree its mainly a grim task lately.

Solid and reasonably professional performance, with a comfortable 3-0 win, not something we're used to seeing..

Leicester are crap though. They're not coming back up for a while.

Good result, great to have both Højlund and Garnacho break their droughts, but Leicester was God-awful, the game was a very hard watch and performance-wise this was a distinct step backwards from the preceding 3 games.

Absolutely looked like two bottom teams. Watched a lot of football this weekend - City-Brighton, Bournemouth-Brentford, Arsenal-Chelsea, Liverpool-Newcastle. The general level of football in our game was by far the worst of those (most closely rivaled by the cup final). Still, I suppose we have to expect some twists and turns, and the general trend is upwards.

Good result and an upturn in performance level from Højlund and Garnacho. Special call out for De Ligt, who was immense.

But: we are still shit, folks. We have players who seem like they can‘t control the ball and don‘t use their weaker foot when they really should. Can‘t do the basics.

There was also a lack of aggression; luckily Leicester was mostly poor today.

Amorim wasn‘t happy, he left the pitch quickly.

A solid & comfortable victory. The longer it was staying 1-0 it did make me nervous as all it would have taken was for some brain fart moment by one of our players to allow Leicester back into it. But glad we were resolute & professional back there.

Only downside to the victory was the injury to the young lad Heaven who I thought was having an absolute fine game once again. Just hope that it isn’t nothing too serious.

Hojlund and Garnacho scoring is good. Hopefully they can build a bit of form going into the Europa Quarterfinal.
Bruno is in beast mode at the moment, but his engine is and always has been incredible.
De Ligt was very good in defence too. As was Heaven. Absolutely gutted about the injury like the rest of us.

More job done than glorious, but it is a great feeling to see us put the boot on the neck of an opponent, even one that will be relegated.

That’s why xG is completely pointless for analysis of a single game. Garnacho’s offside goal is 0xG and Eriksen hitting the inside of the post counts for feck all as well. In the real, non xG world, those two incidents were the closest either team came to scoring apart from the three goals we scored.

We were, it was a really good away end tonight (which made a change to the one at Spurs last month). Didn’t hear much from the home fans.

Nice to see us finding the back of the net, I know Leicester are poor but at least the goals will be a bit of a confidence boost for Hojlund and Garnacho.

I know I'm jumping the gun but I really hope our young players continue to improve and show a good level of football every week.

I'd love to see Zirkzee, Hojlund, Garnacho. Diallo, Mainoo, Yoro, Heaven, Collyer, Dorgu etc all a key part of a successful Manchester United team for years to come.

3 best United players today:
1) Bruno
2) Heaven
3) Højlund

3 worst United players today:
1) Lindelöf
2) Mazraoui
3) Collyer
I would have Ugarte instead of Hojlund and definitely Erikson instead of Maz. I think Collyer was uncomfortable when playing in defence, but improved when switching back to his midfield role.

Absolutely. And maybe Obi as well next season.

Well done United. And quick recovery Heaven! That is why I always say you can't have too many CBs. It is a injury prone position. Especially at a club where we need 3 at a time.

A comfortable win from a largely poor performance against a hopeless team.
It wasn’t an easy watch, made worst with the terrible injury to the young lad, Heaven.

How could we make it look like we were hanging on with a 2 goal and then 3 goal cushion?

Next up come…..
Forest (A)
City (H)
Newcastle (A)
With 2 fixtures against Lyon in the Europa.
Tonight’s performance doesn’t fill me with any confidence.

.
With all due respects. Screw the league. Shame we had to lose Heaven to fecking Leicester of all teams

Good solid performance. Happy that Rasmus finally got his goal even if the Leicester defending was hilariously bad. Bruno was really good, kept nicking the ball off them and even won a few headers in addition to his nice goal and couple assists. Hope Heavens injury is not too bad. We really need to upgrade on Dalot. I know he's played the most minutes for us season and he's a decent back up option to have bur he's so poor in the final third ( did get an assist though). Onana was good apart from some terrible kicking. I also like how Amorim is giving the youngsters some minutes in low pressure situations. Congratulations to Amass for his senior debut. The league doesn't really matter but confidence and good form does and hopefully we are still in good nick come Lyon.

All in all its been a good week that's seen us draw with Arsenal, progress in Europe and defeat Leicester by 3-0....and for a Brucey Bonus, Newcastle stuffed the Scousers in the Carabao Cup!

A few `The glass isn`t half empty, it`s drained dry` posts despite the fact that a 3-0 victory is a morale booster - a clean sheet, two young lads who needed that confidence-enabling goal both got one and Bruno showed again why most of us genuinely appreciate him.

I don`t really get the focus on `two poor teams playing each other` when United got a much needed win. Even under Sir Alex, United ground out results sometimes that weren`t in contention for performance of the year and lacked something. Given what`s been happeniing to date this season, this is a victory to be thankful for. It`s a step in the right direction, everything is a step by step process for this season.

As for Leicester, I was happy for their success although I wanted United to have it at the time. However, a section of their supporters are just base for their reaction to Heaven`s injury. It was disgraceful and I`m waiting to hear their manager/players call it out. Have they?

A pretty professional performance - and we haven't been able to say that much this season. We never really looked like dropping points even if they did have one or two good chances. We now need to string more of these together.

Rasmus did what I've consistently said he was capable of given half a chance and Heaven has made the defence look so much more athletic and able - just hope whatever the injury is, it doesn't have a long-term effect on him. Another great showing from De Light. Even Onana managed not to feck up!

MoM would have gone to Heaven if he'd been able to turn in a second-half showing like the first

A 0-3 win away from home is always a good result, whatever the performance/opposition.
Fantastic backing from the United 'away choristers', cheers lads/lassies, you once again did us proud. :+1:

Get in there.

Good to see Hojlund and Garnacho breaking their drought.

Leicester are terrible though. Dont know what Ruud was thinking taking that job.

Three good chances more than justify 1.17 XG then.
Considering none of them went in, maybe not?

I like the idea of xG, but it rarely seems accurate. I understand that Hojlund's goal was a decent finish you wouldn't always expect to go in, so it probably doesn't contribute much.

Yes, xG is not an ideal indicator. It highlights the opportunity of shooting from a “favorable” position, disregarding other factors. However, it’s helpful in analysis if treated properly.
