Wing Attack Plan R

Eriksen scores his side-footer, McT gets his header down, Martial aims better, and it’s a more representative 5-1. It wasn’t like we got played off the park.
This will be the World Cup the world (minus Quatar) didn’t want. Scandalous it’s going to such an abhorrent country.
Interesting. Finally start a match with two of our three first choice front three and we start creating loads of chances. Nuts that we’re into the WC and haven’t yet started with 3/3 but there you go.
It was a good, battling performance and worthy of the 3 points, but we must stop giving the ball away or the better teams will punish us. We so badly need a proper striker, one who will get us 20 plus in the prem consistently and more in the cups. Martial is not the sort of striker or player who can be relied upon to do this, neither is Rashford though both will get their share until the usual mood swing hits them. Martinez is awesome, what a buy he has turned out to be; the way he tackles he reminds me of Keanne, Bruce, Vidic, and Staam and earlier players like Ince, Robson, Whiteside, McGrath, Moran, Crerand and Nobby. Even at his very, very best Maguire cannot come near him and selling Maguire is the best thing for him and the Club.Still buzzing after that late, late winner. What a goal from the lad!
We've been running on fumes these past few weeks and second half was always going to be tough to control.
Would and maybe should have been much easier had we taken our chances. Eriksen and Martial had clear chances to put us two up, McTominay had to bury his header, and though we left it late it's great to see this side never gives up.
I see a big change in our attitude. Recent years our heads would drop when the opposition scores. Used to hate seeing our players stand around with their hands on hips. Today Malacia was having a torrid time but rolled up his sleeves and slowly got better. Not by a lot, granted, but he didn't shy away. Martinez looked absolutely gassed but never backed out of a sprint. Cas and Eriksen just kept plugging away and made the difference with moments of quality. There's a resilience running through the team that puts us in good stead.
Still lots of room for improvement, no doubt there, but we absolutely had to get three points today and have done it despite the injuries and manic schedule.
Between Dan James burning Martinez and Garnacho for the goal, some blistering pace on show today.Don't care what the haters say, I thought lindelof had another very good game. Of course Martinez did and shaw was good in the first half. I do wish sky still had the tactic cam: I'd love to see what our midfield do off the ball because at times in the second half they seemed to do little with it.
No idea how garnacho got past the defenders for the winner from a standing start. Unreal acceleration. At first I thought the defender was at fault but it was like watching an episode of The Flash... and the touch and the finish were exquisite. Don't want to go overboard but I'm old enough to have watched a certain guy in his prime sometimes come off the wing and finish like that. I'm talking about George Best...
Garnacho changed the whole second half when he came on: pace, passion and a fantastic directness. Needs to start against whoever the hell it is on Boxing Day - and in the Nou Camp.
Some good saves from DDG but he will never be a top top keeper because he fails to dominate his area.. Good first halves from Eriksen and Bruno. Faded a bit in the second...
We always seem so slow to the 2nd balls. Our anticipation is very poor. Bruno makes the cardinal mistake in trying to keep the ball in play in that situation.

We are still a few pieces short. ETH is working well but several players are not his and are not going to be good enough.
Garnacho incredible pace and desire, ice cold finish. Amazing win! Happy to lose my bet.
This is putting it nicely. Most of them are bat shit crazy, myself included.
Delighted for Garnacho.
It's so frustrating how shit our general play is.
We had 47% possession against a relegation candidate. We brought in ball players in the summer like Martinez, Casemiro and Eriksen and we still can't keep the ball to save our lives.
Andreas would be more useful for us than Elanga.
Fulham 0:1 Man Utd - Eriksen (14')
Fulham 1:1 Man Utd - James (61')
Fulham 1:2 Man Utd - Garnacho (90' + 3)

Yeah I was gutted for him too. It would have been RobsonesqeIf McTominay had scored it would've been one of the great goals after passing our way down and across the pitch from just to the right of our box.
If you lost your shite over "ETH needs to rethink some ideas" sentence, then you're wasting your time and energy on Internet forums. Weird that so many controversial opinions fly around and that's what trigerred your outburst but I take it's just a bad day at the office.you mean over reactive knee jerk shite? yes
But they had excellent chances too if it were not for DDGEriksen scores his side-footer, McT gets his header down, Martial aims better, and it’s a more representative 5-1. It wasn’t like we got played off the park.
Yeah it's a very good outcome. I was not impressed with some of the recent performances. However, with so many games played I believe there's little time to train and implement new ideas, so it's a bit of survival mode. We look a bit too much of Ole team with better players, especially since Antony is missing and we don't have anything functional on that wing. Putting Bruno on the right, overplaying Casemiro and Eriksen and using van de Beek i think are mistakes which could've been avoided, but it's a learning curve. Injuries really struck us recently but we did just enough (GD represents that nicely) to slide past our opponents in many cases. That is a good foundation and the mentality is there for ETH to build on.9 wins in 12 games which we played in around 35 odd days, with several first teamers injured. With a world cup around the corner and the constant shitness of having to play Thursday and Sunday. I think we've been brilliant.
Good post. Few good posts in here today.Still buzzing after that late, late winner. What a goal from the lad!

You started all right then you got to Ole team with better players. We're nothing like Ole team, progression in the way we play has been evident unlike under Ole where everything was gung ho and without a plan other than counter attack. Sure, as you sad, games are coming thick and fast and every now and then we're due to a bad game since we're a work in progress stil. The fact we've been looking better and better and have good results overall just 4 months into ETH reign says a lot imo. As for overplyaing players have been rotated, it's just that we played full team in EL so it seems we havent from outside. Eriksen and Casemiro have been on the bench just recently in Carabao cup.Yeah it's a very good outcome. I was not impressed with some of the recent performances. @Ramshock please read the rationale, hope that's not too much of a knee-jerk for you!
What is the story with the Argentina chants and flags?
Remember it a lot when Tevez was a fan favourite here too back in the late 2000’s. Now re-emerging with Martinez and Garnacho
Not moaning about it, just curious what it’s about and why Argentina specifically
We were clearly not interested in keeping the ball and build from the back, happy to give the ball away and then try to recover (this worked a few times against AV in the cup and vs Fulham), most of the play came from defenders going long for attackers and Shaw was our main outlet to beat pressing and progress the play. You started all right then you got to Ole team with better players. Yeah, about last night game I agree, but for me its like this - if it cant go through the middle which it didnt last night try long balls. Though I agree that's probably not what ETH wants overall, that we play that way. Eriksen started all those games cause frankly we dont have anyone to play instead. Fred goes from worst to the best from game to game and I dont even want to mention VDB.We were clearly not interested in keeping the ball and build from the back, happy to give the ball away and then try to recover (this worked a few times against AV in the cup and vs Fulham), most of the play came from defenders going long for attackers and Shaw was our main outlet to beat pressing and progress the play.
It's not really a big deal, the progress is evident but yesterday specifically I saw a lot of similarities to Ole ball - with better players. In those circumstances (fatigue, many injuries and players already in WC mode) I'm just glad we got the result. Unless someone wants to convince me it's how ETH wants us to play - I very much doubt so.
Eriksen was rested and you could already see the improvement in our game. Overall I think he started far too many games. For Bruno it's even worse, even if he can run all day I think he looked exhausted recently on a quite few occassions. ETH took that risk, I think this is not a good strategy but in the hindsight it paid off I guess, since Aston Villa is the only one that got away really.
Well I do not agree about that. Eriksen being head and shoulders above every other midfield option is not disputed, but McTominay has been doing well this season, and we did have some decent games with Fred starting in the midfield. All I am saying is we probably COULD play Eriksen - McTominay and Fred - Casemiro midfield setup in a few more games - especially since our gameplan changed a bit lately and we are happy to by-pass midfield to recover the ball from a team in transition. That doesn't seem like the best utilization of Eriksen and McTominay.Yeah, about last night game I agree, but for me its like this - if it cant go through the middle which it didnt last night try long balls. But they had excellent chances too if it were not for DDG
They had excellent chances and should have scored as well. We surely were not the better team for most of the time, and only got back into the game towards the endWe had more/better chances than them though. Fulham were on top for half an hour in the second half and that’s it. We were the better side for the rest of the match. Not what you’d think from comments in here.
