What's happened to Shaw?

Ibra was a mistake and the quicker we buy a #9 the better.
Shaw had his leg smashed in two and had to miss a year so I expect him to take a while to get back to his best.
I agree about a #9 either play Rashford there or buy a striker that can score on a regular basis. I have been a huge fan of Zlatan for years but even I'm getting concerned .

I'm at the same stage I've been at with the past 3 seasons, where it gets to a point where you don't give a shit anymore because they're just that poor.

3 managers later, hundreds of millions and no progress. It's clearly on the players, which sucks for us because you can't just go out and replace a squad of midtable and non-motivated players.

If these results keep up Mourinho will get the sack and it'll be the players fault.

The fact that Mata had to scream at them to run into the box during a corner when we are losing 2-1 says a lot about this group of players

This.
Was the first thing i thought when i seen it, its shocking.

Shaw looks really dire since his injury. Needs to get that extra yard of pace back but mentally looks confused as well.

Ive said it before and ill say it again. Mata, herrera and de gea are the only winners in this side.

The amount of times we went down the middle and it was obvious it wasnt going to work.

Still not worried. We all need yo write this season off and hope we can finish strong. Jan and august transfers will be needed for mou to get what he wants. There is no quick fix here, and we all need to realise this. The past 3 years are embedded in the mentality of our players and it isnt easy to just switch off from it.

Really pissed off like most, not even 3 bags of monster munch made me happy. Just keep our shite together for the team and manager. We can do that at least. It will click, i think....

So how do you go from 37 shots in one game to 2 in the next ?

Or world class defending at Anfield to looking like every time Fene crossed the half way line they looked like they'd score ?

And after out running and out hustling Athletic, to playing walking football ?

Worst of all, repeating probably our worst outing for a decade at Chelski just two weeks later.

Beyond me, and it seems beyond JM at the moment.....

I didn't think it was straight criticism of them, more that he's having to play two left footed FBs at CH.

That said, they were sh!t for the first goal..... guy did everything bar have a luminous flag on saying "cross to me" but Rojo drifts in front and Blind nowhere near. How hard can it be to mark one player.

I don't know i think it's very harsh to get on them too much about the first goal the more i watch it.
If the striker tries to bring the ball down normally Rojo is tight enough to close him down pretty comfortably. Blind is caught ball watching slightly I guess.

Watching it again you just have to laugh. An overhead kick from almost outside of the box that comes off the guys shin...sums up our season so far really

Surely it can't be a bad idea to give Memphis and Schweinstaiger run of games. Can't see why not as the other ones have been poor this season and are still getting a lot of minutes

Yip..... but we all took Rooneys shin goal v City so have to take this one too?

I don't think any player on that pitch (subs too) can honestly say "I played well" or even "I ran my socks off"?

Best thing they can do is donate a weeks wages to the Royal Legion poppy appeal.

This game was always going to be difficult because Turkish fans are so hostile and passionate about their team. Most of the players played like they couldn't give a damn, it was slow throughout, lacked any urgency and desire. Mourinho is so detailed in his preparation going into matches so he would be very disappointed by the first goal.

Yep...a goal is a goal.

That's really the part that got me the most frustrated...just the lack of commitment. I can take players having an off game technically, it happens unfortunately. What i can't take is not putting in a full shift. I've always known United to have players who will put their foot in and make tackles that set the tone of the game. Keane, Butt, Vidic, Neville, Rooney back in the day. In this team i don't see anyone doing that...its a shame really

Fecking Scholes.. Saying now that we can't keep sacking managers. Where was this thought when he was bashing LvG?

Fecking short-sighted, like the rest of our management. We are the perfect example of how not to run a football club..
Can't believe he's mentioned the 'sack' word already:lol:

I think it can be a bad idea. Why? Because they are both bad players, as seen throughout last season of both of them, and as seen from Depay whenever he has got time on the pitch this season.

Really? If VG was the answer we might as well give up. Mourinho probably isnt right as well, but nobody should defend Moyes or vg either

Posted this in another thread but it's time Jose implemented Rashford as the striker.

The answer is really so simple and it's so frustrating that Mourinho can't see it. You can't play a static forward when our off the ball movement is so poor, it's not the end of the world you just need to be able to stretch the pitch to allow more room for players to operate.

The answer is to play Rashford as a striker and simply tell him for the whole game all I want you to do is make runs in behind and stretch the defence, I don't care if you touch the ball 5 times in the game just non stop runs in behind stretching the defence. If you come short to collect the ball and suddenly think you're a playmaker like Zlatan and Rooney love doing then you're just congesting everything.

It really isn't rocket science, stretch the pitch, make runs in behind with a quick forward that can run for the days and has youth/enthusiasm.

Sort it out Jose.
Agree 100%.
I'm a big Zlatan fan but he's looked ordinary for a few games now.
I blame Jose entirely for the state of play at the moment.

It almost seemed like the players don't want to play.... not for the team, not for the shirt, not for the manager and not for the fans.....

Abject and disgraceful

Do you think we can win those 2 games? Especially the away game?
Of course I do. Our goal scoring form has been poor but it's not like the team is leaking chances. As long as you're solid at the back it doesn't take much to turn things around.

We are so easy to play against. It's embarrassing, Jose will not let people play who seem to want to try and beat a man. Martial and Rashford were revelations last season. But Jose has them playing like shit. That is down to him 100%.
We are slow and ponderous and cautious we have been for years. Everyone can see it so why play Rooney or Zlatan up front which slows us down to a snails pace?
We are unable to get teams on the back foot, we scare no one. We are so easy to defend against.
I'm a psychologist and Jose's body language and mannerisms are a man who is unstable. He is uptight and pragmatic and this is showing on the players as well.
He has lost it criticise me all you want and I may be stuck and never get promoted but Mark my words we will not get back whilst current management are leading us.

Jose really is a cnut isn't he?
What's the point of having a go at Blind and Rojo like that? He selected a team with 2 left footed center backs no one else did. It's not like they gifted them the goals. We've conceded off a free kick and an overhead kick from outside the box for fecks sake. Very strange to single them out in a post match interview

That's not what he said. He said having to play to left backs at center back was the problem....he doesn't see Rojo nor Blind as CB's, but full backs. It wasn't about that they are both left footed, just he's playing 2 full backs as center backs.

- We have a squad of players who think it's ok to lose games, because they are losers. It's never been as painfully clear as it was tonight. The sulking. Kicking people instead of chasing and working hard. The fact we get a corner at 2-1 and only 4 of our players even bothered to get into the box. The reaction to us scoring as if it was some kind of burden because it meant we had to feign trying hard for the last few minutes. It was absolutely pathetic.

Yeah, we've had two poor managers before Jose, and the jury is out on him after his end at Chelsea, but if you don't have the mentality of a completely pathetic child, you would have the right attitude in a game regardless of whether the manager is an idiot. Even kids who play football in the playground play to win. How many of our players can this genuinely apply to? About 3?

Ultimately it's down to the manager to sort out but it's impossible to sort out if you have so many players who actually seem not just to be losers, but determined to be losers. Random example (I could pick a large number of players) but Schneiderlin...he plays tonight...he couldn't be bothered to pick up players off the ball. He coouldn't be bothered to press players properly. He did nothing to even try and impose himself on the game. Regardless of how goood at football he is or isn't, this ISN'T good enough. It proves he is a loser. He seems happy to be a loser. It doesn't seem to bother him or affect his pride like it should, because he does absolutely nothing in a game to try and change anything. Not even basic things that have zero to do with talent. How do you expect to win things or expect a manager to be able to do anything with a player, if this is the player's attitude even AFTER being dropped annd then given another chance?

Their first goal was worth watching the game for though.

Yeah I'm the same.

It's just that same empty feeling knowing it's gonna be another long, shitty waste of a season with little to look forward to.

I feel like I've watched that game tonight in slight variations so many times in the last 3 years. Dodgy defending, bad luck, sloppy wasteful finishing and a non existent midfield. Oh and we lose at the end. It's very depressing.

@noodlehair exactly right. This squad is filled with players who are content with consistent failure. It's ingrained in the club now, this general feeling of ah well we lost, never mind. I'm sick of them. You remember stories about Roy Keane seething about a defeat the next day in training or Gary Neville moping around his house too upset to go out.

I get the impression none of this lot are like this. Daley Blind probably forgets the result the minute he steps off the pitch, whistling a merry tune.

What a pathetic display that was. Am I right in saying we had everyone of our main attackers play some part in this match? Pogba, Rooney, Zlatan, Mata, Martial and Rashford, and we didn't threaten them at all. You could say we missed Valencia who's been an attacking outlet this season, but still...

When José brought Zlatan on to replace Pogba I just despaired. I don't think either Rooney or Zlatan are good enough to start, but both together? Lord, have mercy.

It's all part of the plan. Play shit so next season, teams will let down their guard against us and we will win the league.
Or maybe we are just shite.
Would we be better off out of this competition the way it has disrupted the times of our league fixtures?

We're not finishing top 4 so I'd say it was better for us to stay in this competition for as long as possible.

The players seem to be under the impression that this competition is beneath them. They are nowhere near good enough to think that.

Getting tougher and tougher to watch and mourinho is tending towards his bad side. I don't see this turning around any time soon. These players are broken. All this money spent and we are still in need of many replacements.

Just one of those days eh? No need to worry though. The lads will fly to Manchester tonight and drive themselves home in their fancy cars. They will post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even on their blog. They'll tell us how these things just happen in football, how they cannot belive that they lost, how we need to stick together, how they appreciate the support from the fans and how they will work hard to make it better.

Then, in the next few days, there will be a leak about how Mourinho is literally worse than Hitler and that he kills puppies in training or whatever. It will be all over media, the caf will be pissy and the players won't really give a shit either way.

After that, life will go on for a while. Until the next disappointment, which will undoubtedly come sooner or later. Maybe this sunday, or maybe, in a few weeks. But it will definitely come. Because these players seem to have no bottle whatsoever, or at least not enough ability to hide that. And until, they get their shit together, we'll have these shit results so fecking frequently.

Dont worry - "Hugs" from Mata will make everything seem fine :)

Players like Robson, Bruce, Keane and Ruud probably cant believe how soft we have become.

This team needs an identity and pride in it. We're eating punches like a washed up boxer that can barely be bothered.

Looking on the bright side.....at least Phil Jones was back on the bench and managed to avoid injury getting from and to the dressing room !

We will win against Swansea, and the mood here will change.

Must be Moyes and LVG's fault.

Blind and Rojo central defense
Darmian at RB
The current version of Shaw at LB
Schneiderlin playing the DM role
Rooney up top
And Jose passing them his infinite wisdom.

Not as a big a shock as people are making it out to be. Par for the course for post Sir Alex United.

1. Ibra won't be given a year's extension next summer...time to retire.
2. Schneiderlin's a goner, either January or in the summer.
3. Mkhitaryan will be Di Maria No. 2 and gone in the summer.
4. Blind's a goner in the summer.

Team should be built around De Gea, Martial, Mata, Herrera, Pogba, Rashford, Bailly. Not bothered about the rest.

There's seriously around 10 players that need to be moved on. That's why I'm not giving up on Mourinho just yet. I will judge him on how he manages the rebuilding process (yes, yet another one!). I really don't mind not winning anything this season so long as we can at the very least play some entertaining footie....but we're some way from that at the moment.

When you look at how City, Liverpool, Arsenal, hell even lesser teams like Stoke manage to play attacking football, I'm just baffled by the lack of pressing at times. So many players just standing around and not making runs or creating spaces is killing our game at the moment.

A bit of perspective, we played the game away in turkey.
How does this justify the attitude of a 'friendly' match by the team? BTW, I doubt that Turkish teams have a particular good record of home wins.

Another shred of evidence that great players don't make great pundits.

did you watch the game? he was terrible today, looked completely off the pace and couldn't make a simple short pass.
... while the rest of the team was superb and played lightening quick brilliant football. I'm not denying HM didn't deliver but it's really mental to blame a player who comes on for 20 minutes when the team is trailing and looks completely shattered.
